Hi everybody! This is Missy! Mommy said I could use her FB page to tell everybody that today is my GOTCHA Day! Four years ago today Mommy and Daddy GOT me from the Carroll County Animal Shelter and we became a family!
Here is my story I wrote for the shelter news letter. I hope you enjoy reading it and I hope that, if you're thinking about adding somebody special to your family, you will consider a shelter animal.
In the meantime, I am accepting virtual hugs and belly rubs all day today to celebrate my GOTCHA Day! :)
Missy's Story
by Missy Richardson
Hi! My name is Missy and I want to tell everybody about my new life since I left the Carroll County Animal Shelter. I don't know why my previous humans dumped me off in the parking lot of the shelter but I forgive them. I guess they did what they had to do. I hope they're doing OK. It worked out great though because now I have new humans to take care of!
My new humans came to the shelter on Friday the 13th to look for a dogcompanion. Mommy's dog she'd had for 14 years had died and Mommy was sad. They were looking for a big dog but didn't find the right one. On the way out of the shelter, Mommy saw me. I stood out because my back was inflamed and bright red and had no hair on it. And I was very quiet and tiny, not noisy and rowdy like the other dogs. That's because they had given me some Benadryl to help me stop itching.
Mommy and Daddy went home that day with no dog but Mommy kept thinking about me. She asked Daddy if he had noticed me and said that she'd like to go back to see me. But Daddy said “I don't want THAT dog.” A couple days later, Mommy was still thinking about me and she convinced Daddy to come meet me. The nice man at the shelter told them I had allergies and yeast and that was why my skin was inflamed. He took me out of my cage and Mommy picked me up. I was like a little baby in her arms and she fell in love with me immediately.
Then she handed me to Daddy and he fell in love too and they took me home. Now I live in a little log cabin in the woods! I love to sit in Daddy's lap out on the deck and survey my kingdom. I have 11 acres!!! For someone who said he didn't want me, Daddy sure does love me a lot now! It didn't take me long to wrap that crusty old truck driver around my little paw! Hee hee! Here's a pic of me in Daddy's lap!
When I'm not snuggling in Daddy's arms, I love to play with all the toys everybody has given me! It seems like everyone who meets me loves me and wants to give me a present! Also, I love love love to ride in the car! Mommy got me a fancy car seat to ride in so I will be secure. Check this out!
By the way, it turned out that the reason I was so itchy was because I had a yeast overgrowth. Mommy got me some food that is grain free, and now my skin isn't inflamed any more and my hair is growing back!
I heard somebody say I was a rescue dog. I guess that's because I rescued my new mommy and daddy from being sad about not having a dog to take care of them. I'm very glad to have new humans to take care of and I hope all my friends back at the shelter find their perfect humans too!
