Baloo Bear 🌈 2020-2024

Another incredibly painful loss that leaves a hole in so many hearts connected to Hoppy Acre.

Baloo passed away overnight acutely last week after developing GI stasis. After carrying out a post mortem it was uncovered that a recent bout of EC had done quite a lot of internal damage which left him without the ability to fight and survive 💔

Baloo joined us in 2021 as a three legged tripod that couldn’t be looked after anymore. He was one of our first rescues once we moved to first Hoppy site. His mobility was incredible, his personality beautiful and we are very lucky to have spent 3 years with him.

Baloo had many bonded friends during his time and always ruled the Fluffles with a soft touch. We are lost without him.

His fwends included - Flopsy, Sweepsy, Grandma Bear, Leo, Beau, Luca & Thumper.

Plestia/Pleshy 2023 - 2024 🌈

We are still putting ourselves back together after the loss of the most special little bun due to a delayed complication from her surgery last week. The underlying infection her bloods picked up and was always the worry took her from us after such an amazing recovery.

We can’t say too much as it is still so painful and raw but we had to do this tribute to her and let everyone know that might have missed our stories.

We know how much she meant to you after the outpouring of love. Knowing the impact she had means so much to us and gives her life so much meaning ❤️

Pleshy, what can we say. We will never be the same again. You’ve changed us forever. We love you forever.

We mourn how much we miss you,
But every day you were alive, we celebrate ❤️

We are so elated and relieved to let you all know that Plestia is doing amazing at home after successfully navigating double hind leg and tail amputation today 🙏🏼

We are exhausted, humbled, grateful, and very thankful for everyone.

Plestia is having hind leg amputation today. We aren’t sure exactly what will be done as this is about to be discussed with our vets. We will update our stories when we know more.

Arnie 🪽 Feb 2022 - Aug 2024

We lost Arnie 🌈 💔

Arnie never caught a break. He joined us in December 2023 with serious dental & optic issues (see previous post for pics on his condition on arrival).

He was a runt of a litter and unfortunately let down on many levels. He was sold by a vile breeder who lied, he was taken on by someone who tried but didn’t provide enough of the specialist care he required (through no fault of her own), and sadly suffered for almost his whole life.

We removed his teeth eventually (once he built up the strength), we worked on his blind eye and issues it was causing. We medicated and cleaned most days. He was so close to being in a place to remove the eye and start the next chapter of his life.

However, an acute tummy parasite hit him for six and he just couldn’t recover, and we lost him on the 9th August 💔

Over the last 8 weeks he had finally found a fwend in Thumper and were so thrilled he got to experience this love and companionship. He deserved this so much.

Things don’t feel the same, but maybe he’s finally at peace after suffering so many ailments with us and before he arrived.

Arnie, we are sorry that so many days involved cleaning your eye which you hated. We are sorry you were scared. We hated doing it as much as you hated us doing it.
We wanted everything for you, but it wasn’t meant to be.
This world was so unfair to you,
we hope that over the 🌈 is better ❤️

Plestia has reached her first milestone as she has now survived 6 months post EC seizure and although we all face daily battles she is flourishing, and inspiring us everyday.

This week Plesh upgraded to a larger area with access to being around Sweepsy & Baloo. She couldn’t have taken this more in her stride, and shown us she was ready for this next step. The area is an increased size of 1 square metre as we hope to build her strength slowly for when she uses her wheels.

There are decision to be made over the next 4 weeks as to leg amputation, with the risk/reward quandary taken into account. This decision will not be taken lightly, and everything we do is for the betterment of pleshy’s life as we want her hopeful few years ahead to be with comfort and less required cleaning for her to deal with.

We will keep everyone updated as much as possible and if amputation is decided then we might be trying to organise a fundraiser that we will need you all to help us with.

Leo 🪽

You stole our hearts the second you arrived and you take a piece of our ❤️ with you over the 🌈

Leo joined us for the last chapter of his life in February this year. From the moment he arrived we knew his time would be limited as he has a nasty (non contagious) chest infection that caused him difficultly to breathe and would result in needing his nose cleared daily, nebulising and oral meds which we did, and he handled like a champ every time. 6 months of daily care wasn’t easy for anyone but Leo made it easier. He never made us feel bad or guilty for having to handle him, and placing him in positions he wouldn’t want to be in. He was an amazing little bun.

When Baloo went through his awful EC situation and was downed for 3 days, Leo would be there next to him. Even though he was always fighting his own battles. He did the same for Grandma Bear when she started to lose her battle.

He was a special one 💫

Leo spent his time at Hoppy with Baloo, Sweepsy & Grandma Bear who accepted him and Leo loved them all so much. Him & Sweepsy these last weeks have been joint at the hip ❤️

We miss you Leo, so much 💔

It’s a Rainbow kind of 🌈

Rainbow & parter Ramsey have been at Hoppy for a month now and have really settled down and although they are moving to their new home soon, we are making the most of soaking in this gorgeous girls total chill. You can find her sleeping anywhere where she is squished in as tightly as possible.

Ramsey on the other hand has a lot more energy to burn.
We are pretty sure rainbow pretends to be sleeping most of the time 👀 🫠

As of 21st June 24, we are full. We have just been asked to take on two more buns which we will at the end of the month.

We really need to get some adoptions organised asap and we will be positing all available buns in next few days.
