Not All Plasma is Created Equal 🟰

Understanding Alpha-2-Macroglobulin (α2M) and Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP)

α2M is a large protein that plays a crucial role in the body's natural healing process. It acts as a "trap" for enzymes that can damage tissue and binds cytokines that cause inflammation, helping to reduce inflammation and promote tissue repair.

PRP is a plasma component that contains a high concentration of platelets, which are rich in growth factors that can stimulate healing and tissue repair. However, it also contains many other proteins and pro-inflammatory cytokines which can cause an inflammatory response. PRP is sometimes used for that inflammatory response to signal to the body that a certain area needs more help.

Alpha2EQ™ contains no platelets, no white blood cells, and no cytokines to get in the way of the α2M molecule, allowing the product to specifically target your horse's inflammation and help quiet down the treated area. 🐴

IF YOU THINK/ KNOW YOUR HORSE HAS SQUAMOUS CELL CARCINOMA CHECK THIS OUT!

🤔 Does your horse have Squamous Cell Carcinoma (SCC)? If you have a horse with light or pink colored skin, as they age, the incidence of SCC rises. This disease is challenging to treat because of the lack of effective treatment options, however is treatable if caught early!

The most common places to see SCC in the horse are the eyes, ge****ls, around other areas on the face and mouth or legs. It can also be found in the stomach and nasal cavities.

Things to look for include:
👉 Discoloration of non-pigmented or pink skin
👉 Lumps or bumps on non-pigmented or pink skin
👉 Areas of light skin with irregular hair loss or raised plaques

This study is looking at a product to reactivate the horse's own immune system against tumors of this type.

We are looking to enroll horses that:
☑️ Are at least 12 months of age
☑️ Have a minimum of one probable SCC tumor (must meet size requirements)
☑️ Are in generally good health or have a stabilized chronic disease

This is a 155-day study with 12 study visits. If your horse qualifies for the study, all study related visits, physical exams, blood work, and study product will be at no cost to the owner*.
(*Horses must meet additional criteria to be considered for the study. Horses with ocular, periorbital and eyelid SCC are excluded.)

📍 If your horse has been diagnosed with or you suspect that your horse has SCC (excluding around or in the eyes), give us a call at 623.581.5508. We will go through an initial screening call to make sure your horse is eligible and will fill you in on details from there.
