So I may have made a new friend today. This is a jungle carpet python about 5yrs old & somewhere between 5 ¹/² to 6ft. They have a bit of a reputation for being a bit bitey and difficult to handle. DONT YOU BELIEVE IT!! I asked to handle him and he climbed up around my neck like I'd raised him from the egg and claimed me as his human. Who was I to argue? Their colors, size, broad head and body language make them a little intimidating (as if maybe that was nature's intent). But this gorgeous stud was a well mannered gentleman and quite the personality. We started a beautiful friendship today. The moral? Don't believe all of what you hear from others, meet the individual and allow them to show you who they truly are.

In light of the number of scams and dishonest creatures amongst the world, we have decided to implement some safety procedures here at Ripp’N Reptiles, when one of our babies is looking for new digs.

When looking to obtain one of our animals, if you do not speak with us via VIDEO CALL - so that you can view our faces and your new baby - then it is not a deal being made by us.

**Please take a moment to contact us directly to verify all details** We do this only protect ourselves and potential customers but also our animals.

Little late on this - not sure why - blame it on TJ’s brain. But we had an egg pulling in the middle of the night Wednesday (the 24th). This makes clutch #6 for the year!

Lucy is bred to C-3PO to try to prove out her genes - she is a Classic with 3 possible triple hets for Clown, Piebald, and Hypo. C-3PO is proven for Clown and has the codominate genes Super Pastel, GHI, and Yellow Belly and is also a possible Het for Hypo.

You’re seeing “Lyra” again. She shed this morning! That means she’ll be laying eggs in about 30 days. ❤️❤️❤️ This will be Lay #1 for 2024 - but technically Clutch #2 as we have eggs in the incubator from 2023 still.

The *Pre-Lay Shed* is what the hobby calls the shed cycle in between Ovulation and Egg Laying. This is our sign to prepare for eggs - which we start watching closely for around Day 21. 30 days is the average time they cook their eggs. But anytime within 21-45 days is also possible depending on temps and mom.

The pairing here: Wickett X Lyra
*Redstripe H. Clown X Pastel H. Clown

Great start laying foundations to an expanding project. “Wickett” was here as a baby in 2022 and we’ve been growing him up waiting for him to be ready.

Meet “Kawena” she is the only BCI here at this time. BCI = Imperator Boa Constrictor (or Boa Constrictor Imperator).

Her name originates from traditional island/Polynesian languages translating to “One/she who glows”. She literally glows with her coral highlighted sides, bright pink tinged cream colors, red tail, and red sienna markings. She’s only 1 year old right now and still quite the little girl. She won’t hit adult breeding size until 4-5 years old and she will be a rather large girl.

But for now she is TJ’s special girl as a pet. One day, in a bigger space she might just be a mommy though.

This is a sad day. The man is a legend and a role model for so many people in our hobby. He is at peace now and not in pain any longer, but our thoughts are with his family and crews that have the task of moving forward without him. We hope they can find peace and healing in the legacy and love that he has left behind.

On behalf of the Barczyk family and our entire team at The Reptarium, it is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved Brian Barczyk.

More than the guiding light of our organization, Brian's fervent passion for reptiles and wildlife, along with his steadfast dedication to education, has touched innumerable hearts and minds globally.

Our deepest sympathies are with Brian's family, his friends, and all those whose lives he has touched. We've lost an exceptional individual – a visionary, mentor, and friend. For those of us who had the privilege of working alongside him, Brian's absence leaves an immeasurable void.
As we navigate this difficult time, we find comfort in the memories and the lasting light of Brian's work. He will be deeply missed but indeed, never forgotten.

The Barczyk family invites you to join us for a Public Memorial Walk-through to honor Brian’s memory. The event will be held on Wednesday, January 17, 2024, at Heritage Church, located at 44625 Schoenherr Rd. Sterling Heights, MI 48313 from 1-3pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family encourages you to show your support by visiting https://thereptarium.com/pages/brianbarczyk . Your engagement and involvement are greatly valued during this time.

Also, at LegaSea's opening, visitors will find Brian's handprints. Guests place their hands in his, continuing his legacy in a simple, yet powerful gesture. Please continue to follow this page for updates.

Brian, we will see you in the next one. Everyone else, see you at LegaSea.

- The Reptarium Team.

This is “Lyra”.

Have you ever seen a ball python ovulate? See how it looks like she’s swallowed a nerf ball in her mid section? And how the underneath of her tail is sucked in?

This is completely normal and means that she is about 3 weeks from her Pre-lay shed and then in about 30 days from that she’ll lay eggs.
