London Horse Show
What better way to spend an evening than watching world class dressage to music 🇬🇧🎶🥰
Advanced Medium 🧚
Here’s Megan and ‘Fairy’ smashing their advanced music freestyle this morning for a qualifying score 💪🏻 of course a horse called ‘Fairy’ had to have perfect twinkly, magical sounding music. I supported Megan with her freestyles this past year and it has been a pleasure watching her and her lovely dancing partners go out and achieve such brilliant results 🎶🥰
Here’s me! Competing my own music! Yes it does happen sometimes when I get a chance 🤣 I took my 6 year old out yesterday to get some winter quals and she got a 70% so job done ✔️ this is music that was made for her as a 4 year old and I also haven’t been through it since we competed it when she was 4, so I will admit I improvised the floorplan on the spot… but I think we got away with it 😜 and we got great marks for the music and the judge commented on how well it suited her… which is always reassuring! She will be having a new floorplan and music for next year and I’m really looking forward to putting it together.. it will be a totally different vibe to this one… 😉🩷🎶✨
Advanced medium freestyle
Thursday was a rare day… I got to compete one of my own freestyles! 😅🎶
I’m usually so busy with everyone else’s and getting my own horses regional qualifications for the straight classes (especially in the summer season) that I very rarely nowadays get to do my own music.
This was such a special one as I last competed it 5 years ago when Darcy and I were competing at FEI junior level (feels like yesterday) but we haven’t ridden it since! It was also her first show back after a year and a half off with an injury, so it was very emotional all round.
Enjoy 🥰🎶✨
Novice Freestyle
So, yesterday I got to do one of my freestyles on my own horses! 🎶😁
I put this test together back in April/May 2023, when this particular horse was a bit wild and very babyish 😂 we haven’t ridden it through since we last competed it in June 2023!!! (Although I don’t recommend being like me, please practise your tests beforehand!) I don’t have a 20x60 at home (yet) and being so busy arena hires are a rare luxury and I have to choose who needs to go the most, we were winging it!
So I will be updating this floorplan to my lovely girls current level of work… as you can see we did the bare minimum of canter work and our ending isn’t quite as dramatic and show stopping as I’d like it to be because at the time centre lines were squiggly lines and halts lacked the all important ‘immobility’ part, so doing them out of a nice chilled walk with very little of the actual centre line was our best bet 😂
So although it now needs updating, I think it’s a good example of how you can use a freestyle floorplan to work with your horses strengths and weaknesses, particularly with youngsters who are stepping up a level.
It wasn’t mistake free as you can see but still just so enjoyable and fun to do a music class, thanks to Saddlesdane for putting them on 🎶
