I am in the beginning stages of planning an event to rescue as many dogs as possible from Houston, TX and get them to reputable rescues in and out of Texas.
There are so many aspects to figuring this out and I am starting by finding rescues to partner with and pet product companies that are willing to donate and start a fundraising raffle. I will be making a post of the fundraiser and predicted cost of the various aspects (ex: transportation, vet bills, supplies for day of, etc).
I am working on getting a small group of people to volunteer to help with planning and some to come on the day of the event which will be in May, likely the 15th.
The biggest need right now is fosters. My goal (its crazy, so prepare yourself) is to rescue 150-200 dogs out of Houston both from the streets and from a Houston shelter. For the dogs traveling out of state, they need to be quarantined for two weeks and have a health certificate from a vet before traveling, and some states do not allow heart worm positive dogs at all.
