Rules of the competition
Contest Dog Preparation: Prior to competition start, the dog should be clean, dry and free of knots. Nails should be clipped and and ears clean. Sanitary and pads may be trimmed. Colouring, other than to enhance the natural colour of the coat is prohibited.
Asian fusion and Asian fusion model dog allowed bows and collars and minimal colour
CREATIVE CLASSES EXCLUDED
For all Classes: Ring opens at least 30 minutes prior to prejudge. Contestants must be present for prejudging or disqualified
Check Grooming schedule for time don’t be late please.
Six weeks or more coat growth is recommended. adequate coat growth to make a distinct change in the dog’s appearance.
Products and Product Application: Chalk may be applied prior to or during the completion time period to for hand stripping classes or enhance coat colour. should not rub off on the judge’s hands. Hairsprays, finishing sprays and gels may be applied before or during the competition .when the class has finished all tools down including spray and chalk.
Touch up respray is permitted for group judging
Hair extensions maybe used of the same coat colour during the comp to enhance the groom.
bows are permitted for Maltese, Shih Tzu and Yorkie ,as they would appear in the show ring
ASIAN FUSION and Asian fusion model dog decorative collars and bows are permitted
CREATIVE CLASSES EXCLUDED,bling of all descriptions is encouraged
The competition dog must be age appropriate for competition , appear healthy, free of disease, open wounds, injuries and parasites, must not show signs of aggression , must be leashed when not crated or not being groomed,
Dogs on tables must not be attended at all times, either by the groomer or a nominated person
Judge will check the dogs at pre-judge, to make sure dog is entered in the right class and level at the right time .Check there is enough coat growth, preparation of coat ,clean and knot free .Check the dog is age appropriate ( 1 to 9 years approx) . Judge will make note of information supplied by the contestant such as missing coat, scars, warts, healing injuries, etc.
An assistance is allowed during the competition to assist the contestant during the competition.Ring steward should be told first.
Groomers assistant is to hold dog , no talking or couching or guidance.
A toilet break will take place during the competition. The time and length of the break will be announced at the beginning of each class.

Judges ,ring stewards and assistants will be available to hold dogs while groomers have a toilet break .Please pick up dog poo , bags will be available and dispose of in bins provided
NO discussion about your groom while on breaks.
No grooming on break.
Ring stewards will tell groomer when its time to start grooming and when breaks are being done and finished, no grooming until told to start.
When the grooming time has finished groomers should clear table of hair, tools and equipment , you may use a table cloth to present your dog , place a comb on the table and then stack and present their dog to the judge.
Judges will asses the groom for balance, symmetry, uniformity and style of the trim. For purebred dogs, must be to breed standard. For Freestyle Styling, the ability of the groomer to create the best possible profile for the dogs structure and coat type. For scissored dogs, the plush overall appearance without scissor marks, unevenness of coat
Hand stripped and/or carded dogs judges will look for proper technique to achieve smooth and natural appearance. Clipper work should be smooth and blend into the longer coat smoothly. The degree of difficulty with regard to the amount of coat removed, whether a pattern is created will be judged. how different coat type, texture, quality and quantity in groomed, and how the groomer grooms to hide dogs faults and enhance good structure.
Grooming clothes and covered shoes should be worn at all times. Good manner, attitude and good sportsmanship must be practiced at all times.
Please show respect for groomers, judges and the dogs and the building and grounds.
Dog handling must never be rough.
Groomers must take all care not to nick or cut the dog with scissors or clippers.
NO mobile phones, radios and headsets, hair dryers, written or picture instructions, or coaching by anyone outside the ring .
drinks to be in spill proof containers
Contestants must provide their own grooming equipment grooming tables and grooming arms, scissors, cordless clippers, blades, brushes, grooming loops, products, etc.
some Tables will be available for use but please notify us if you will require one when you enter competition
Cordless clippers are best to use , if power is require please state when entering competition.
You maybe disqualified if you are handling you dog in an unsafe manor, or abusive to others,2 warnings and then your out of the competition.
The judges word is final.Any complaints to be brought up at the time of the competition.
Fees will not be refunded in the event that a contestant is late, absent, disqualified.There will be exceptions for interstate groomers if covid boarder closures occur

Levels
First Timers
Groomers who have any skill level but have never competed in a grooming competition.
Novice
Groomers who have been grooming less than 2 years, and have not won a novice level in that class against 2 or more competitors .
Open
Groomers who have won a novice or intermediate level in that class with 2 or more competitors or have been grooming for more than 2 years
Masters
Groomers who have won an Open level in that class or voluntarily enter Masters level

Salon Freestyle
8.30 am saturday pre-judging
9.00 am start grooming
This is for groomers to show their salon talent displaying pet clips, cross bred dogs in salon trims, purebreds are to be groomed into a style which is NOT its own breed standard. Modified breed trims, teddy trims or transforming their subject into a different breed profile.
All 4 levels will be judged in this class, First Timers, Novice, Open and Masters. All levels eligible for runner up in Group and best in Group, who will compete for Best in Show and runner up in Show
Terrier
8.30 saturday pre-judging
9.00 am start grooming
This class is for purebred dogs with wire coats such as schnauzers, wire haired dachshunds, cairn terriers etc and must be styled to their breed standard.
Competitors are permitted to either Hand Strip or Clip their dogs.
All 4 levels will be judged in this class, First Timers, Novice, Open and Masters. All levels eligible for runner up in Group and best in Group, who will compete for Best in Show and runner up in Show
Gundog
8.30 am Saturday pre-judging
9.00 am start grooming
In this class purebred dogs belonging to the gundog category must be styled to their breed standard. Competitors are permitted to either Hand Strip or Clip their dogs.
All 4 levels will be judged in this class, First Timers, Novice, Open and Masters. All levels eligible for runner up in Group and best in Group, who will compete for Best in Show and runner up in Show
Creative
12.30 pm pre-judging
1.00 pm Saturday start grooming
3 hour limit all creative
Creative will be in 2 categories, Themed and Artistic Design.
The best in each group will be eligible for Best Overall Creative in Show

Australian Creative Grooming and Seminars
Category 1 Themed
In Themed section groomers will create their dog into a representation of a characters from a cartoon, film, mythical, extreme scene Design etc.
All permanent colour dying to be pre-done.
3 hour in the ring to achieve your special creation
semi-permanent dying ,styling, sc******ng , blow pens, air brushing Chalk, Glitter, and other adornments done at the competition
All 4 levels will be judged in this class, First Timers, Novice, Open and Masters. All levels eligible for runner up in Group and best in Group,
Category 2 Artistic Design
In this section Groomers can create any colourful Artistic or Abstract designs, or Patterns, from the simple and elegant to full colour and out there .
All permanent colour dying to be pre-done.
3 hour in the ring to achieve your special creation
semi-permanent colour, clipping, Sc******ng, Styling, blow pens, air brushing Chalk, Glitter, and other adornments at the competition
All 4 levels will be judged in this class, First Timers, Novice, Open and Masters. All levels eligible for runner up in Group and best in Group,
Asian Fusion
8.30 am Sunday pre-judging
9,00 am start grooming
Open to all purebred and mix breed dogs. All purebreds are to be groomed into a style which is NOT its own breed standard. This is for groomers to show their talent displaying Asian Fusion inspired pet clips, modified breed trims, teddy trims. The use of chalk and temporary colours, bling collars and bows are encouraged .
All 4 levels will be judged in this class, First Timers, Novice, Open and Masters.
All levels eligible for runner up in Group and best in Group, who will compete for Best in Show and runner up in Show
Purebred Scissor
8.30 am Sunday pre-judging
9.00 start grooming
Groomers in this class are required to style a Purebred dog in breed specific trim. All dogs to be scissored no hand striping .
All 4 levels will be judged in this class, Novice, First Timers, Open and Masters. All levels eligible for runner up in Group and best in Group, who will compete for Best in Show and runner up in Show
Poodle
12.30 pm sunday pre-judging
1.00 pm start grooming
Groomers in this class are required to groom a poodle of any size in a recognized poodle trim. Poodle feet, and sanitary areas to be clipped prior to the competition .Poodle faces and tails to be done during judging.
All levels are eligible for runner up best in group and best in group,who will then compete for best in show and runner up in show
Model Dog Traditional
12.30 pm Sunday set up to be judged at the end of poodle class
All Model Dogs to be entered as a completed groom.
Model Dogs to be presented in a traditional breed trim, any breed.
All levels will be eligible for runner up best in group, and best in group.
Model Dog Asian Fusion
All model dogs entered as completed grooms.
Model Dogs to be presented in Asian fusion Style, temporary colours and Bling allowable .All levels are eligible for runner up best in group ,and best in group
