A little visit to newbold yesterday to start working on winter qualifiers. 🐎

A rather hectic morning, but we managed to get there on time, Georgie was a superstar, I however, have to get to grips with riding him forward when he goes into himself a little, a couple of sat nav errors made to top of my useless riding 🙈

I was super pleased to see the canter work from home has started to creep into my ring craft, just to work on the same energy within the trot work. We even managed to come home with a 🥈 & 🥉 frilly.

We have been working at home on training, at first I was a little disappointed that I hadn’t achieved this in the ring, but on reflection there was lots of improvements.

What a beautiful weekend it was!

Sunday we went of to vale view for an attempt at the summer area festival, we were lucky to get qualified after missing the winters and the majority of the qualifying period due to an tying up episode, so I was over joyed to be back!

We have spent lots of time training and there wasn’t a huge prep , Georgie hadn’t been in the ring for a good month or so and he really does enjoy performing, which unfortunately left us short on some marks due to jogging in the walk.

I was over joyed by our performance, we really are starting to get some marks in, his paces are becoming more consistent as is my attempt at Holding him together and executing his straightness without letting him wiggle! We came 14th out of a big class, pretty mediocre score of 62, just shows that sometimes the bigger picture is more important than the result itself!

When it comes together it’s great, and if it doesn’t it’s a great learning experience 🐎❤️

I also had two lovely clients out eventing at buckminster, both rode fantastically, one taking a 3rd and one 12th!! Very happy coach 😁

Thankyou to for seeing the potential in myslef and Georgie and pushing us to achieve for correctness , and always there for support on top of fab coaching!

Thankyou to my team, my sponsors, staff and my amazing liveries for incredible support 🫶

Georgie and I had a fantastic training session this weekend at with kirsty.

We had been working on some bits throughout his training schedule at home and it’s always so rewarding to feel, see and hear the progress.

To think of how he is starting to look now, compared to where we began it really is a remarkable journey, which I am loving (mostly) every minute of.

We are still more years racing under the belt than riding horse, but he’s starting to resemble a dressage horse 🐎

Busy busy at home, a couple of holiday liveries, a sales livery, one of my own in for sale who wants to stay 🤣🤦‍♀️ Georgies on top form with baby bert sneaking up behind him, so lots of riding 🐎

So berts been stepping up the work slowly, junping once a week, lots of hacking and some flatwork, he’s taking to the work like a duck on water and LOVES to please. Here’s a pic of him at the end of his first ever gridwork, some baby mistakes made but he’s bold, he’s brave, smart and keen.. very exciting 🙏 🤩

Thankyou to my amazing groom for being pole and camera man, always the best support from you. 😇

Georgie and I trotted of solo yesterday for BD, I had huge problems with weather to go or not, later on after processing it all I had major anxiety about taking the big Ginge out by myself, he’s genuinely a saint away from home, but last weekend he was back to having a bronc on the trailer so it really does help having a second pair of hands!

We rode for a clear round, and although no videos I felt him really try for me, he must of known I was a bit despondent, the thought of even seizing competitions on him had been crossing my mind due to the lack of consistency and him not really feeling on form..

We managed to get a 🥇 & 🥈, a qualifying score to get us to the summer areas and two clear rounds in the tests, nice accurate, just a little throttle off to keep it polite.

Today we had the pleasure of , I was so excited to see her, tell her all about Bertie’s progress and how Georgie is and see her work her magic, which might help explain his reluctance within his work. Of course ellie worked her magic, we found he’s not sore in the usual places and in-fact had a new tension unusually on his side … likely from his fence hopping 🐎🙈

So here’s Georgie having a nap who is clearly so relieved that the tension has been addressed so much so that his bucking and party moves were left behind and instead he went to bed!

Bertie had a fantastic time being a text book boy, licking and chewing and yawning, overjoyed at all the attention! Super pleased he is in tip top condition as he steps up his work load.

With Thankyou also to for keeping us going and helping George feel comfortable within his work until Ellie saw him, that’s huge importance that he is still loosened up and not learning to stiffen up with tension.

Team work really is so important allowing the bigger picture to be seen, and not to mention my support from my team including my amazing groom, who not only does a fantastic job, she listens to me doubt myself constantly and go over and over options to better the horses care and well being.

ROR regional dressage championships 😁🐎🐎

With thanks to a very amazing friend I am slowly getting my head round the ror series, it’s so much fun to be out competing and seeing such amazing ex racehorses enjoying their new career. ( I promise even if my autistic resting face doesn’t look like I’m enjoying it 🤣🤦‍♀️)

Today we pulled it out the bag, our first trip out in the double for a while (brave move) a few mistakes when Georgie realised he couldn’t quite take off mid canter 🤭🙈

We came fourth In the ele, and third in the medium, considering that’s his 4th ever medium test and a couple of weeks ago we pulled out of a competition due to various issues… i think that’s a real achievement 😁🤩

Thankyou to for being there at the end of the phone for continuous support and encouragement when I really do doubt myself… and to my friend tiff for coming along and supporting me being top groom for the day!

The babies officially growing up in more ways than one …

He’s the little one and not shy of 17hh now 🤭🐎

I have been gradually increasing his work load over the last few weeks, he’s been enjoying his hacking, an occasional school and his first proper jump session!

It’s time to pick his passport name and start to think about registration for his competition name 😍😁

Any suggestions welcomed 🙏

A few snaps from our training session this week 🐎

We’ve had a testing couple of weeks with the big ginge, he’s always a bit tricky when the grass changes with his pssm type 2, so a couple weeks ago we pulled out of our comp and just spent the time working with my physio and trainer to get him happy in himself again.

We were both super excited to get back out, he loves going out to shows/training as do I. We rode through a couple of seasons all within the hour 🤣🤦‍♀️

Georgie was really tricky to ride again as he always is should he have some down time, he has to be reminded he can actually listen to the leg and have self carriage by easing him in gently and using exercises to help him achieve this.

He is really starting to come together and learn to be consistent within his work, hopefully if he feels as good as he has been we will be of to the regionals this weekend if any one is going do let me know, would love to say hi!

Its been a real relief having Kirsty teaching us once more, she has seen Georgie from the beginning and nos how he moves, how his brain ticks, how far he has come and most importantly how mine works to so really excited for the next few months.

After the most stressful day, near on resulting in a mental breakdown… Jeremy Clarkson I think my horse has taken it on to give your escapee animals a run for there money.. if you no you no 😁🤣

So i decided to post this amazing picture captured by . I’ve been keeping bert pretty hidden behind the scenes but this shot was hard to resist sharing 🐎🤩

Feeling super lucky to have not only helped start off in her photography journey, briefly had a few great shots from Barry barnard photography, and now my friend and long term client Sophie has taken up to capturing those special moments we value so much 🥰🤩

Georgie and I were persuaded by one of my lovely liveries to pop along to no stress dressage.

We had a fantastic day, was really nice to not have to worry about comp wear and just enjoy being in the ring. Such a beautiful range of arenas to ride in.

George warmed up and felt amazing, we had popped off to .farren last week for a training session and wow she managed to sprinkle her fairy dust (in the pi***ng down rain us both getting soaked might I add 🤣🙈)

I was so pleased with the warm up, the test was an added extra, we chose a different medium test to ride through, had a fantastic time, we did have a slight interruption mid test due to a accident else where on site, so we kinda lost our flow a fraction after a very confusing break mid test. I still couldn’t be more happier with the outcome esp under the circumstances, Pickering were fantastic and the rider that was hurt was ok 😁🙏

It was very exciting to have one of my liveries come to a dressage (not sure she agrees 🤣🙈)

What a fabulous day we had yesterday at the championship. The sun was out, a really relaxing environment for the horses 🐎

It was so amazing to see some familiar faces, friends made at these sorts of events that I met three years ago! One in particular is a real inspiration, and seeing the progression in person of her and her fantastic ex racehorse was just a real pleasure.

Georgie has been rather fresh as of recent, but somehow I managed to hold him together enough to finish 5th in the elementary and 6th in the medium. Both tests had some mistakes in (I completely missed out a halt 🤦‍♀️) I am so proud of how he managed his first ever attempt at medium 73, took to it like duck on water, just needs to become more consistent within his work when out and about.

Thankyou to the team that helped make this possible, a real amount of planning and man power goes into getting Georgie to competitions. To the two girls ._equestriann and .equestrian.019 that helped not only at the show but early morning to get the yard done before we left!

Thankyou to everyone that makes this possible-

keeping Georgie happy within his work.

Georgie and I are finally managing to get back into the competitions 🐎

We thoroughly enjoyed our day out this week to onley, had a win in the elementry with 66.97 % and a 2nd in the medium for a 62.59 % which was fair as we had a long wait inbetween classes and we both were rather tired after our 5 am start so some tension snuck in with some loss in rhythm 🐎 😌❤️

I honestly felt so prepared after having a training session with which was kindly gifted to me, Kirsty has been a consistent support throughout my journey over the years and I am so excited to be able to get back regularly training with her, so much improvement from our last two trips out!

Kirsty will be coming to my yard for regular visits and will be available for coaching should anyone like to book In with her please message me. A real privilege to be able to bring her to the area!

What a miserable day ☔️ ⛈️

I’m starting to question my sanity as I spend my hours wading through puddles, changing coats and boots and mud lots and lots of mud 🙈

I did manage to get the horses all worked/ out the barn and only managed to get really soggy once 🙌😁

Here’s some snaps of .cooke boy Archie looking super smart and slowly transitioning over to help improve his flatwork, and help him become straighter which in turn will help his jumping 🐎

- your poor boots undergo some work from me, wet & muddy conditions and they keep on going!

Been working on the exercises you set me so excited to see your next report and the changes to his body.

keeping him looking his best and feeling great!

Today there was light at the end of the tunnel 🐎😴🤞

I’ve been wanting to right a post with an update for a while now, but not being able to find the courage or the words.

As I have seen from many of my fellow coaches/coaching buddies I am not alone.

I have a conditon (autism) where I try my best to communicate and when I find if it’s failing I can go mute. So sorry to some of my clients who I have not managed to get back to you. I do punish myself for not being able to accommodate/not being able to communicate and it really does put me into a ball of anxiety. I really love coaching and am very excited to be looking towards the future when I can find some reliable staff, I have been lucky enough to have an amazing lady who does help out, but I didn’t realise staffing would be such a hard task to sort. A very important lesson.

I have a yard of my own with 12 horses in my care, and when things get hard (weather ect) (emmergancy) my priority has to be the welfare of my horses/liveries.

I think the general population of the people within the equine industry will all agree the winter has been hard, but today there was long hours of beautiful sunlight and just general feeling of the months to come.

I will be providing a new booking system for lessons and clinics to help with planning and availability to make it easier, this will be accessible from my (soon to be live) website.

For those of you that wish to remain with me, I will be taking bookings in for next week with a gradual increase and much more of a reality of the hours I am on the yard and the hours I can spend off site.

I hope everyone felt the hope I did today, and the reason we all participate in the sport with our four legged friends.

Little Bert update here he is looking smart yesterday -

He’s been in the background a while now due to breaking and then his holidays, his illness and then more time of to grow into his frame, and if he needs it he will have more time 🫶

I’ve only ever retrained ex racehorses , that’s always been my sphere and speciality, whereas Bertie was bred to race but got himself in a situation of neglect due to ended up in the wrong hands. I had a great pleasure breaking him, a real fresh blank canvas and so brave.

From the neglect Bertie picked up some anxiety and vices , which the majority of the time you wouldn’t notice. I waited till he was four to break him, and have took it at his pace. He’s now five and still very Green and learning every day.

Bertie’s taught me that all horses have their own clock, he is still growing and developing strength, and I have to keep accessing where he is mentally as well as physically.

So although he’s in the back ground , on very light work, he is very much part of my life , I adore him, but I have to listen to his body and his mentality, when the time is right I will step him up, but for now he’s enjoying his life being a horse and developing in the mind and body. 🐎🫶

He enjoys his regular sessions from who has been part of his journey from day one 🫶

We took .cooke Archie for an arena rental last week, whilst Lucy has gone off travelling for the year, she has left Archie with me for some training.

I have been really enjoying working with him, he has a few straightness issues which myself and have been slowly correcting by working together for a more supple straighter boy. We are also working on his confidence as he’s a worrier🐎

I do love a spot of jumping (no one tell Georgie 🙈) I can’t wait to get out an about with him and see his progression whilst enjoying the journey🫶

After lots of hard work at home with , and we are back on the scene ready to gain our summer qualifiers 🐎

As per my bold manor I decided to hit the ground running and aim for ele and medium for qualifiers 🤞

We managed a very sweet ele on 64 % with a couple of costly mistakes (flying changes not yet required)

Then we had our first ever medium together and managed a 63% even with some variations in rhythm due to some excitement with the music speakers when j decided to take of his accoustic ears 🤣🙈 *** they defo work***

Considering we were not even at 50% of our best work I am so excited for what the future brings. 🤩🤩

We had such a lovely chilled day, Thankyou to Sophie for driving me, being top groom and just great company!

Thankyou to my team at home for stepping in when I was let down last minute by a staff member allowing me to still make it to the competition.

Not all wins are on paper 🤩🫶

Today we had our elementary area festival -

After very nearly not making it due to car issues, I have been so lucky to have borrowed a lorry , and with that I had to have a driver to 😁

This brings a whole new level of going to competitions 🤣

I am writing this as we are being driven home by a very good friend , in the most amazing lorry , with not one but two helpers. Feeling very lucky by all whom has been involved.

I was very anxious about upsetting him/having him drop weight due to stress, and perhaps ulcer flare up. After long thoughts we decided to go with the knowledge that it certainly wouldn’t be our best test due to him being in a different routine, but im super pleased we chose to come!

We were well prepared and took a little companion friend for him to help him feel more at ease 🫶

I also felt a little more assured as I took my b-complete from , to help support his appetite and his hind gut with some of their amazing electrolytes to support his muscle recovery with his pssm.

I also took with me syringe so I felt he had something in his tummy before we got riding to help make him more comfortable and prevent any irritation.

I gave him a long warm up encouraging him to relax and I could feel he was not very responsive and just a little away with the fairies 🥰

We received a 64% with a mistake and a little turbo mode in one of the leg yields and some inconsistency’s within the rhythm so im pretty darn pleased with him!

Then I went to check the photos and I couldn’t not buy after I could see the wonderful horse I had created, his whole shape and muscles are finally starting to change for the better and he looks strong within his top line 🙏

So here’s a comparison one of his first ever shows and todays shot 📸

There’s been so much going on at home with the horses and yard that I have no time to highlight some of the amazing horses I get to train. 🐎🤩

Here we have Vicky’s two very lovely boys, Charlie is the coloured whom I’m very excited for his future, a cracking horse with lots of presence and an incredible hind leg (sometimes so much so we hit the turbo power by accident 💥 🤣) - Charlie and I will be getting out to some pony parties together.

And then Simon, and equally smart boy whom we have helped him to become much more loose and supple given him a new love for ridden work, equally as excited to see him and Vicky out this year together 🫶🐎

It can really help as a coach to feel what is going on underneath the rider , many times I find the riders are doing a great job at hiding their horses weaknesses which can then be approached accordingly, it also can help if my clients can watch me ride to see what I am working on achieving with their partnership. Everyone learns differently and I have a rather large think outside the box within my coaching to help get the best results - happy horses and happy riders 🐎🫶

I take chilly days over soggy days (sorry guys) 🐎🥶

I’ve been able to enjoy the last few days of dryness working the horses at home and off site. The sunshine always provides the most fantastic setting for afternoon rides 🫶

We also had a visit from and had all the horses condition and nutrition looked at, i will do a separate post shortly!

I also managed to go to visit at Walsall which was organised by and had a fantastic day learning all about saddles, trees, the importance of correct maintenance and care as well as regular check ups.. which leads me to..

Here’s a couple pics of bertie who is now seeking a new saddle due to his ever changing shape, but he did go brilliantly in a friends equine today (of course he did 🤣)

We also have some really exciting news and will be expanding , so we have a vacancy for full, part , comp or sales/training, and as from April/may time will have more vacancy’s for 24/7 grass livery /retirement/young stock and a few more boxes 🤩🐎

I also have a clinic at home on the 27th and one at sudborough on the 28th! Something for everyone so get booked in!

I cannot put in words how lucky I feel to have such a great support from my clients and sponsors, but there has been a certain few people who have made my family complete and that I’m forever greatful 🐎🫶

The best Christmas present I received is Bertie is officially on the mend and soon to return to work 🐎🤞❤️
