When I first came in the home, Max a very nervous golden doodle ran away from me and barked at me for 5 minutes straight. With positive reinforcement, calmness and patience, this was our interaction at the end of our walk - hugs and kisses! 🥰

Walker safety is so important. Although it’s never your fault as a walker if you get attacked or robbed, here are some tips to ensure your safety.

🐶 Be sure to walk dogs in well lit and safe areas.
🐶 Share your location with others.
🐶 Be sure to be aware of your surroundings. Make sure you can see and take mental note of people in the area and vehicles. Stay alert while walking.
🐶 Save important numbers of the pet’s owner or emergency contacts in your phone for quick access. Additionally, store the number to local law enforcement. In the event of a robbery or assault, your emotions can be all over the place and having these numbers on hand can save valuable time in getting yourself and the puppy help.
🐶 Take a picture of the pup when you begin your walk. Pictures come in handy in the event of the pet being lost or stolen. A recent photograph can help to identify them.

Parents, it’s also important that your pet is microchipped. Even if Gaga’s dog potentially get sold or set free somewhere, they’ll be taken to a vet who is likely going to scan them. Microchips have been beneficial in locating lost and stolen pets.

Can you believe Thunder will be 2 next month? We’re coming up on the one year anniversary of his rehoming and his new mommy has been so sweet about keeping me updated and staying in touch.

Sometimes, we have to make a hard decision about our pups, but you’ll always be your baby’s first love no matter what! They’ll never forget your kindness to them no matter how far apart you are. ❣️

Home safety tips for your pups/sitter/walker and home!

🐶 Find a new hiding place for your spare key. Under the mat is not okay in 2021. Invest in a lockbox or find a way for your sitter to access the home in a less obvious way.

🐶 Invest in security devices. Cameras, keypads for access, etc. are great technology for you and your pets protection.

🐶 Invest in a doggie cam like Furbo to check on your pups.

🐶 When you leave your home, make sure you clean and leave the home in order. That way, it’ll be obvious to spot things that are out of order or something in a disarray. Also it can be harmful for someone like a sitter coming into a messy home. You don’t want any liabilities for someone getting hurt in your home.

🐶 Leave dogs with only a little food and water if you plan to be gone for 3 hours or less. Have the sitter give them more if you feel they need it. But having pets eating unattended can be hazardous, especially puppies.

🐶 Leave leashes, treats, toys close to the door where a sitter can find them easily.

🐶 Make sure your pet has a tag with your emergency contact information in the event that the home isn’t secure after the sitter leaves or if the pets gets loose while with the sitter.
