Rex is all ready to see the applications for his adoption and to decide where he wants to go. He is now neutered, chipped and has clean teeth. His blood was perfect and his health check tells us he has several more years to share his joy. While Rex didn't grow up with other dogs, he was a perfect gentleman at the house of one of our fosters, getting along with other dogs and taking some sass from them too. He lived with cats before and really only had issue with young children. He has like every other human he has met and seems to have an affinity for men. Walks well on a leash and is house trained once he gets his routine. Please apply at lissr.net.

Lexi is a lovable, obedient, and playful sable Sheltie searching for her forever home. As a cheerful senior with a wagging tail, she’s the perfect companion for anyone wanting a loyal best friend. She’s housebroken, quiet, and gets along with everyone, including other dogs. Lexi adores belly rubs and walks. Though she’s a bit overweight, she’s making great progress on her fitness journey, already shedding a pound while in foster care. What more could you want from such a sweet pup?

We have received confirmation of locally acquired terrestrial rabies in a stray cat. The cat was found in Deer Park, Town of Babylon.
"As we continue our surveillance, we ask our residents to be vigilant. Rabies can spread among mammals, and from rabid raccoons to other wildlife such as feral cats. If you live in the western portion of Suffolk County, mind your pets, and if you see a stray animal that looks sick or injured, call a wildlife expert, as that animal could have rabies,”--Dr. Gregson Pigott, Suffolk County Health Commissioner.

Hi, my name is Lucy . I am a 4yo tri-colored sheltie and I am looking for my forever home. My owners, due to age and illness, were unable to continue to care for me, so LISSR stepped up. My foster family says I'm a little luv bug. I like to be hugged, petted and sometimes share your bed, (if you let me). I get along great with my foster brothers, we like to be in the yard and once in a while I get the "zoomies". I met my foster mom and dad's grandchildren, I was a little reserved at first, but when the treats came out, I was right there to get some of those. They said I was very gentle with taking the treats.

I am housebroken, crate trained, come when called and walk well on a leash. And I am up to date on all my vetting. Also, looking beautiful, since I went to the groomer. I am READY for my forever home. If you are interested in adopting me, please go to our website - lissr.net and fill out an adoption application.

Another sweet sheltie has crossed the Rainbow Bridge. Lilly was just a week shy of her 14th birthday. She was rescued from a terrible environment, then spooked and was on the run for a month before being reunited with Jackie. Lilly liked laying in the sunshine and taking long naps. RIP Lilly 💕

I had the chance to attend an Owl Presentation at Wild Birds Unlimited in Setauket, and it was both informative and fascinating. I had no idea there were so many different types of owls! We even got to pet a couple of them. 🦉 If you're interested, WBU is hosting another presentation this Sunday at their Oakdale location.

Meet Rex, a spry and youthful 10-year-old Sheltie! He’s heading to the vet for a neuter and dental check-up before moving to his foster home, where he’ll wait for his perfect forever family. This is his first real experience with other dogs, and he’s adjusting happily. Rex would thrive in an adult home, with or without other dogs. He adores everyone he meets but seems to have a special soft spot for men. He’s great on a leash and mostly house-trained (a little marking is expected initially). If you’re interested, please apply at LISSR.net. This adorable fuzzball will be ready soon to settle into his new life and is sure to transition easily to the right home.
