💔💔 LISSR mourns the loss of volunteer and friend Artie Kinsley, who was a dedicated member before moving upstate. 😢😢Artie and his wife Helen supported our organization in many ways, from fostering and transporting animals to donating baskets for our Holiday Party and adopting Buddy B. Herder, Melody, Bear and BoBear. Artie will be remembered for his warmth, kindness, and lasting impact.

🐾😢 Bridget and Anthony said goodbye to their beloved George this weekend. George joined the rescue in 2019 along with 10 other shelties. When his photo was shared, Bridget and Anthony instantly fell in love with him. George was a kind and gentle soul who adored being petted. Thank you, Bridget and Anthony, for giving George a life filled with love and joy. RIP sweet boy. 💔

🐾 Update on the Shelties from Upstate! All three are at our vet's office (Dr. Lynch) undergoing medical evaluations. Bloodwork has been done, and we’ll have the results by Saturday (7/5). They need grooming, which will be taken care of as soon as possible. After that, they’ll be ready to move into their foster homes on Tuesday.

Today was an exciting day for LISSR. We took in 9 shelties from an owner upstate who was no longer able to care for her precious dogs. We contacted a group called Pilots to the Rescue, who help rescue dogs around the country. Besides using planes, they also have large Sprinter vans, which they use for transports. They were so happy to help us out and transported the dogs from upstate to Long Island. We also worked with NJ and Maine Sheltie rescue, who will be getting some of the dogs that we brought down. We are looking forward to getting to know these wonderful pups and then placing them in loving forever homes.
