😢💔Another Angel gained his wings. Barbara Humphries lost her sweet boy Tyler yesterday to a brain tumor. I spoke with Barbara last night and needless to say she's devastated. Barbara adopted Tyler as a puppy 13 years ago and they have been inseparable ever since. I remember how excited Barbara was when I called and told her we had a puppy for her. Barbara has been through a lot the past few years and Tyler was always by her side. RIP handsome boy. 😢💔

💔😢Please keep Diane and Ron in your thoughts and prayers, as they have lost their beloved Tabitha. She passed away in her Dad's arms. Tabitha was adopted in 2022 at the age of 11 from a terrible situation. Some of you may recall the two Shelties that came into rescue, whom we named Betty and Allan in honor of Betty White. LISSR is deeply grateful to Diane and Ron for opening their hearts and home to this sweet senior and providing her with the best two years of her life. RIP, sweet girl.

💞🥂 Buttons and Kim received their Christmas wish when they found each other. Buttons will begin the New Year and a new life with Kim, Tippy MacPuff and Kim's other dogs. Buttons and Tippy Mac Puff are quickly becoming fast friends. Buttons has hit the jackpot, and her wait to be adopted was well worth it. 😀🎊💖

🎅 Ambassador Trip wishes to extend his sincere apologies for not being able to wish everyone a Merry Christmas due to an internet problem that lasted for days. It has been a frustrating experience. However, now the internet is up and running, he would like to wish everyone a Happy and Healthy New Year. 🥂On behalf of LISSR, Ambassador Trip would like to express gratitude to all of our foster homes, transporters, generous supporters, and volunteers for their hard work during the year. Without their dedication, LISSR could not exist. Thank you for your commitment supporting our rescue Shelties💞

It is official! LISSR unanimously voted to name Trip as the organization's ambassador. Despite his physical challenges, he remains happy and accepts his circumstances. After consulting with Dr. Lynch, we have decided to try gentle massages along with Librella shots. As with all our rescues, we will do everything to make this boy as comfortable as possible Please wish him well.

😢💔Please keep Diane, Joe, and Kristen in your thoughts and prayers as they mourn the loss of their beloved Ty. Ty succumbed to kidney failure. Despite his challenges throughout his life, he was, well cared for, and loved. This is all LISSR wants for their rescues: to be loved and happy. Thank you for taking such good care of him. Rest in peace, sweet boy.

Compliments of the Suffolk County SPCA, Please read.

Please follow some simple precautions to keep your pets safe during the Holiday Season. This time of the year can be very exciting yet at the same time very stressful not only for you, but for your pets as well.

Tinsel should be avoided because your pet may think that it is a toy to play with and they may accidentally swallow and choke on the tiny strings.

In addition, do not decorate your tree with popcorn or other food items and remove all edible gifts from under the tree. Never hang edible treats, such as stockings filled with chocolate and other candies on the tree or fireplace where your pet can reach it. Chocolate can be toxic to their health.

Do not place chemicals in your tree's water. It may keep your tree fresh longer, but it can prove very harmful to your pets. Do not allow your pet to drink the tree's water because it can get dirty very quickly and many pine needles fall into the water dish. A tight-fitting tree skirt over the tree stand may help to prevent this. Always make sure your pet has plenty of fresh water in his/her own dish at all times.

Holiday plants, such as poinsettias, amaryllis, mistletoe, and holly are very poisonous to your pets. If these plants are ingested, they may cause vomiting, diarrhea, or even more serious problems. If you purchase these items for your home, please make sure that they are out of your pet's reach.

Before your family celebrations, make sure that your pets have a safe, quiet area where they can rest. It is best to keep your pet safely in a bedroom where they can escape from all the noise and festivities. If your pet enjoys having company come over, just make sure they do not become too overwhelmed.

After you have had your fill of holiday turkey, ham, chicken, and/or roast beef make sure you throw those bones away - do not give them to your pet! You might think that you are giving them a treat, but actually you may be threatening their health. Bones can splinter easily and cause damage to your pet's throat and intestines. Bones can also become lodged in your pet's throat, which may result in your pet not being able to breathe.

After your gifts are opened, quickly dispose of all plastic wrappings, ribbons, and bows that can be easily swallowed by curious pets.

Perhaps most importantly, PLEASE make sure that all of your pets have proper ID tags on at all times because if your pet were to become lost, you would have a much greater chance of finding them if they have identification.

Trip appreciates and thanks everyone for their kind wishes. He is resting comfortably after his long day today. Everything went well, but unfortunately, x-rays reveal a progression in arthritic joints from his previous x-rays. It is unfortunate, this situation could have been avoided. If he had been treated when he was first injured, he would not be in this predicament now. He's only 6-7 years.

Good morning everyone, Trip here. I would like to inform you that I will be undergoing another stem cell surgery tomorrow. I am confident that I am in the best hands with Dr. Lynch. The most challenging part will be not being able to have breakfast. I overheard mom telling Piper that she would sneak her breakfast to her.

💔😢 LISSR has another sad loss to share with you. Barbara, Charlie, and their two sons lost their beloved girl Haley. 😢 Haley came into rescue in 2011 as a seven-month-old puppy. Being part of Barbara and Charlie's family, she not only attended our events she also had Sheltie siblings to play, as Barbara and Charlie always had multiple Shelties. She not only had her siblings to play with but also the numerous Shelties that Barbara and Charlie fostered over the years. RIP sweet girl, you will be missed.
