Kicked off the new year with finishing our garden project. We tilled half of our garden, leveled it, and covered it with cardboard and finally wood chips so we will no longer have to fight with weeds. The plan is to put in raised garden beds. It will be easier on our backs and easier for mom too.

Rescued this racing pigeon about a week ago. It had a wound on its side and a broken wing. We have treated him and kept it well fed. We contacted the national racing pigeon union and found the owner. Hoping he comes today.

Today’s harvest. I’m loving summer and all the time I finally get to spend in my garden uninterrupted and without having to rush off to work or attend to business at the port. Everyday I get to eat something fresh and organic that is grown here. Life is good.

Update on Sebastopols. Out of 4 eggs only one survived. 3 never made it out of their shells. I am not sure what went wrong. The sole survivor was this guy. But I had to help him emerge. When he came out he had a huge egg sac still attached which both horrified and filled me with dread because I thought for sure he would not make it. It was twice the size of what is shown here. It was touch and go throughout the day and by evening he seemed much stronger and was responding very well through touch and love and affection. C’mon little guy we are rooting for you.

Silky video. We have 2 of these absolutely adorable show quality silkies available. Hatch date 5/22. They are very sweet and affectionate you will love them!
