For long we have misunderstood breeds, their needs and how this relationship with dogs really works. The most common thing I hear is, you can help Labradors or Retrievers with love, but a German Shepherd - needs a tough hand. Well, thank God it’s not true. Every ‘bad’ behaviour is a need not being met- physically, emotionally, nutritionally or specie specific and you need a team partner to help you understand the same. Jawan (name changed) has helped me believe in how love, understanding and management can help you help them.🤍🌸

As a communicator, I don’t aim to find lost animas, because a lot of times they aren’t necessarily ‘lost’. Cheeku boy was very clear in his conversation that he needed some time out and he will come back on his own for sure. He said he needed a night’s time. He couldn’t have been more clear, and like a good boy, he kept his promise! He came back as the night passed. I love my little clients who hold on to what they say.🥺❤️

Dog walks change a lot during winters and we start humanising our dogs even more. We put them in warmers and put little boots on them, however it’s very important to know that they are built different and a lot of them are able to withstand the cold during walks, especially the furry ones.
An elderly dog or one with joint pains would need a warm coat to be comfortable when going out for a walk. Maybe the younger ones will too but please notice their reaction after wearing the clothes and they will tell you whether they prefer it or not. Now coming to little boots, most of them dislike wearing these boots because they are unnatural and most don’t actually need them. They can also throw off a dog’s balance and friction. The pads of a dog's foot have a gripping texture that allows them to cling to a variety of surfaces, such as rainy roads, dirt, floors, etc. Dog shoes are similar to when humans wear socks on a slippery surface, when our grips are gone, we start to slide. It’s very important for you to check the texture of the shoes so that the dog’s gait doesn’t get affected. Post your walk clean your dog’s paws with lukewarm water and towel dry.
If a dog especially an older one suddenly stops wanting to go out for walks once the weather turns cold then it could be that they are uncomfortable somewhere in their body and possibly have joint pain which is made worse by the cold, damp weather. Speak to your vet and nutritionist to get your dog to be at its best and don’t force them for a walk. You can interact just as much at home or do only a quick garden stroll and come back.

Things to keep in mind when you see a dog near you. 1. Avoid eye contact. A lot of times our response to fear is by showing aggression, so we tend to stare and scare them away. Never ever do that! 2. Don’t bark back at them. Well, hello, no! 3. If they come near you, try to stand still and let them sniff. Cross your hands and stay still, they will sniff and go away. Don’t run or pace, that will make them chase you. 4. When going to meet a friend, ask them already about the dog situation in the locality and if they have any pets, understand the temperament beforehand and take the do’s and don’ts beforehand. 5. See if you are scared of a particular dog- size, breed etc. and start the interaction accordingly, I have seen some people are scared of puppies because they are high on energy and some are scared of adult big breed dogs. See if you have a fear and start interacting with pets that you know are calm and senior, and slowly work your way back. 6. Dogs are great at sensing fear, so try to stay calm. I know it’s a lot to do when it comes to controlling your own emotions but just thinking of a happy place or listening to good music with your earphones on might help when you see a dog approaching you. Of course, there are a lot many factors involved, but these tiny tips might help you around dogs. Overcoming fear or phobia takes more than this and you may need to seek help.
