Almost 5 weeks old😊 We have had several people drop off our waiting list, I think because times are just a little uncertain. We sincerely appreciate when families really think it through! Taking on a new family member is a huge commitment and a big change.

Labor Day is a great day to let sleeping pregnant dogs lie😉 But the humans are getting ready! Washing all the rugs, towels, washcloths, toys today:) Just a couple of more weeks! Hopefully I’ll get a good clip of the pups moving more next week 🤎

We are expecting!! 🤎 Roca will be having our last litter the third week in September:) 🎉
It’s been a quiet, smoky😮‍💨, hot🥵 summer. So we have been staying close to the ac. My doggies need some exercise to get back in shape.
I was missing pups so much I headed out to the pasture to take some pictures. They’re not as cute as pups, but they’re still sweet.
More updates to come as Roca gets closer!! 🤎

The pain is real, especially with labs! Here in the country when going to the swimming hole, everyone, kids and all, would climb in the back of the truck and have a “dog blow dryer “ on the way home 🤣

Oh my!🥰This was in my personal memories today😢😊🤩🤎 They were six weeks and two days old. I asked (maybe begged) to take them home right after their vet visit (something we discourage 😅) But they grew up just fine! Love you girls!

This is a too much info post, but I want to share it anyway. 😬
Our doggies are good, great in fact. They get feisty in this cool weather, especially when they hear duck hunters in the distance. We had a couple of trips this year. The first one we let them free feed, which was a mistake, especially for Della. We get home and she is super chub. So we were working on getting her healthy, and making real progress, when she cycled. We were successful in skipping in the past and thought when we can do this again. Things were going good but it’s always really stressful. The whining, the pouting, the make sure this dog walks, and this dog is put up. Don’t let that one loose! Anyway, we were two days passed the critical time with signs that it was over, I thought we were in the clear. She was snappy towards DaBeau and sitting down. So I let her loose for a few minutes while I was cleaning their area. I should’ve known that if DaBeau thought it was still up for negotiations, I should be careful. but… Anyway. I was hopeful she didn’t take and scheduled a visit with our vet. She said, “Well, we didn’t see any puppies“. “Awesome!“ I said. She was confused, but I told her we were not wanting her bred. She did say she needed to lose a little weight and with that I agreed. The plan was when Della lost a little weight, and our trips were over, we would schedule her spay. Long story long when we get back from our second trip (during which they had a strict diet) and greet the dogs, I realized the vet was wrong. Those weren’t tadpoles in there. I started preparations, just in case. Scrubbing and painting the whelping boxes, washing rugs and towels, making sure we had supplies. She had 10 beautiful puppies Friday morning. She looks awesome and is doing great. At one point we thought that it could be a false pregnancy. In the end I’m glad it wasn’t. That can be so hard on them physically and emotionally. But her spay is scheduled for January. I don’t think she’ll get around that one. 😅
