"Two charges have been laid in relation to an investigation regarding EJ Rescue Foundation. Airdrie's Municipal Enforcement confirmed that one charge falls under the business license bylaw, while the other pertains to the provincial Animal Protection Act.

Municipal Enforcement Officer, Sgt. Brad Tomlinson, stated that the Animal Protection Act charges are linked to a clause addressing individuals causing distress to animals.

According to the provincial Animal Protection Act, distress is defined as an animal that is deprived of adequate shelter, ventilation, space, food, water or veterinary care or reasonable protection from injurious heat or cold; an animal that is injured, sick, in pain or suffering, or abused or subjected to undue hardship, privation or neglect. "

I'm are aware that ej rescue has been posting that they are still in operation. I do not know anymore details than the screenshots being shared. This is the ej playbook - operations as usual. This doesn't surprise me in the least - I've had Ejs owner and volunteers lie right to my face - I don't believe much they say. I also have very little faith in the SPCA and any other officials being able to shut this place down. There is no regulation I can literally call myself a rescue set up a page and start selling dogs to people today.

I have no idea how after everything we have seen and heard that someone would still support them yet here we are - it's beyond frustrating.

How does this happen? Why does it go on for so long?

"There is no legislation governing the operations of animal sheltering agencies and no oversight body to ensure animals in their custody are receiving appropriate health checks and vaccinations, housed in appropriate facilities with biosecurity protocols, have been assessed and provided with training to support their eventual adoption, and position the animal for success in their new homes. Albertans should be comforted knowing there are many good agencies who do operate at a high level, but Albertans should also be aware that not all adhere to the same standards."

- people don't know it's even an issue to start with.
- people often prioritize getting the cute puppy asap over doing their research.
- people get very defensive that they may have given money or support to a organization that is treating animals poorly and double down on supporting the problamatic rescue.(I'm a former foster and volunteer - I also feel foolish for falling for it but know you are not alone and it's okay to speak up once you know better).

We must educate ourself, our kids, family and friends ❤️ or this will keep happening.

Not all animal organizations are created equal. We have been notified by folks that the SPCA has been at EJ Rescue daycare today and may still be there. Fingers crossed all dogs are safe and sound. That the spca finally intervenes.

“As an animal lover and supporter of reputable rescues, I am deeply disturbed by the conditions at a local animal rescue facility in Airdrie, AB. This facility has repeatedly shown disregard for the well-being of its animals. The environment is filthy, dogs are not properly fed or vetted and are left confined in crates for extended periods.

This rescue has been featured negatively in news reports several times due to its poor treatment of animals. Dogs under their care have been reported sick and some have tragically died as a result of neglectful conditions. Past volunteers and fosters have bravely come forward to expose these atrocities but no substantial action has been taken so far.

It's crucial to note that according to the Canadian Federation of Humane Societies (CFHS), all animal shelters should provide sanitary living conditions, adequate nutrition, necessary medical care and sufficient space for animals - standards this facility clearly violates.

We must act now to protect these innocent lives from further suffering. We call upon local authorities in Airdrie, AB to investigate this matter thoroughly and take immediate action towards shutting down this facility if it continues failing at providing basic humane care for its animals.

Please sign this petition if you believe that all animals deserve respect and proper care. Let's ensure that our community supports only those rescues which truly uphold these values.”

No dog should have to suffer for so long at "the rescue". I'm beyond mad at these recent posts by this not a rescue. Why did they wait for over two year to ask for help in this way? Why don't they have a current photo of this dog?!? The photo being used was posted Feb. 2022?!? It's almost the end of 2023 - like they didn't they even take current photos ffs. Hope the dog looks healthy still 😭
Over two years at that disgusting facility. No creature deserves this. I really wish the Alberta SPCA would step in.

Hate to say I saw this coming but I certainly did. How is this not a hoarding situation? Ej rescue brings in new dogs despite having a bunch suffering in shelter because they are not adopted. If these dogs get put down I believe it's 100% the owners fault. Volunteers have tried again and again to get her to prioritize these dogs, work with them to get them to a place where they are adoptable. Instead they leave these ones suffering in the doggie day care or with fosters who are not prepared and end up returning the dogs. Some of them for years! Years. All while regularly bringing in new dogs, selling off a ton of puppies and other dogs she brings in.

When I was a volunteer some of these dogs were in the shelter. - _- that was years ago.

Hey Y'all,

Yes Ej Rescue is still doing the same old gross disgraceful stuff. Yes we still get monthly messages with stories, questions and concerns about this so called rescue. They still get 1 star reviews with the same complaints from fosters and adopters that we brought up years ago.

I don't have a solution. I've tried for years to do this advocacy work and have recieved more pain and threats than progress.

I volunteered for this rescue. I now own a dog that was abused and neglected by this rescue. A special needs dog that I will have to provide special care to for the rest of her life... I have tried to tell people.

Seeing posts like this make me so angry. They purposely pull heart strings when they want to. They are saying they are at capacity but still want to take more dogs...when I volunteered and they were at capacity it was a complete disgusting s**t show.

Because not every adoption goes poorly.
Despite reading the negative review people still adopt.
Most have never even seen the daycare the dogs were living in.
There is little to no regulation on the industry.

At this point the page exists to help the people who have been screwed over not feel isolated or gaslit. I don't see a future where this "rescue" is ever closed. They will continue to profit off the suffering of animals, volunteers and adopters alike.
