Well Zoey got into the dress up clothes right along with Brianna and her friend Brenna this past weekend during a sleepover and here are the results!! She definitely makes a statement wouldn't you say?! On the flip side......she passed another milestone tonight while out on her evening walk with Dave, the dog with the bionic nose shoved her way into a huge area of briars and tall cone flowers and found a baby skunk! It was certainly old enough to spray her right in the snout :-P then , of course , Dave was so close that his clothes and hands got some but that just meant he was the perfect person to bathe her :-) Zoey is now cleaner than she has been since we got her and I can't wait to see what her hair looks like in the morning! Even wet there is NO skunk smell left on her!!! The formula we used to wash her was...... 1 quart hydrogen peroxide, 1/4 cup baking soda and 1 tablespoon pet shampoo. Let's hope we don't repeat this anytime soon!

The wonderful weather today allowed my daughter Brianna and I to venture out to the pool for the first time with her diabetic alert dog, Zoey. We were both a bit nervous about how it would go but the entire Greenbrier Golf & Country Club staff made it a relaxing, beautiful day. They were so fantastic from getting us chairs to distracting kids who wanted to stay and play with Zoey when she would start to get anxious with them around. Thank you SO very much for making my afternoon on Memorial Day an enjoyable, relaxing day and for making our first trip to the pool with Zoey a pleasant one. There were so many people at the pool today yet it seemed like someone always had an eye on Zoey and I to make sure we were okay and didn't need any help. There are simply no words to express how much this meant to me. Thank you again and we look forward to our next trip to the pool.

Zoey got a little too matted again. We tried so hard to keep up with brushing her but then couldn't find a place to get her cut that would do it immediately when we dropped her off so she wasn't away from Brianna for long. Finally found someplace and she was gone for 2 hours. After picking her up she rolled all over Brianna and would not let anyone else even take her outside to go potty! We have to win her trust back since Dave took her in at 8 am while Brianna was still asleep. Next time I think Bri and I will take her and watch thru the window for a little bit, go shopping, come back and watch some more and so on so she can see Bri because she acted so traumatized yesterday that we felt awful. I was getting to the point of considering buying a how-to dvd on dog grooming but this was a much better way to go!! And she is so adorable with flowers in her hair! They match the sweater Brianna bought her:-)

Okay, forgot to mention that Zoey is truly a Miss Priss like her owner. We have had several days of rain with this making the ground quite mushy. Zoey does not like rain and does NOT like to put her paws on the mushy grass. As you can imagine this made going potty a bit of a challenge! Brianna made the mistake of giving in to her at school and take her in to PE after a VERY quick potty break where she barely stepped off the sidewalk to p*e. Needless to say, after running a bit with Brianna in gym then getting tied up you can imagine what happened! I need to get a very special gift for the gym teacher after this week! Bri had to make good use of those pretty pink p**p bags!! She handled the whole thing in a very mature manner despite comments from classmates as she was taking care of things. I am so very proud of her!

Our little California puppy is getting a really quick introduction to some cold weather. Have had three days with temps only getting into upper 30's/low 40's. Here is Brianna taking Zoey for a potty break at school, in my coat since Bri never remembers hers!!

Zoey went to see "Rise of the Guardians" today at the Movie Tavern and did really well. An hour into the movie there was a big scene with heavy booming and Zoey let out a loud single bark! Brianna got a little flustered by it and took her out to make sure she didn't have to go to the bathroom. Of course, there were 2 little kids just down the row from us talking and crying thru the whole movie so don't think people noticed the dog bark :-P Once they came back into theater Brianna's sugar was up so Zoey alerted her a bunch till the end of the movie! She did her job and didn't get distracted...What a Wonderful Pup!!

Zoey had her first Thanksgiving with us and did fantastic, sleeping at Brianna's feet all thru dinner. Talked with her trainer, Breanne and told her Bri would give Zoey a hug from her. Here is the picture of her hug:-)

Been a busy 5 days since Breanne and Ed left but Zoey has done outstanding. She alerted Brianna to a low sugar during the middle of cheerleading practice in a huge gym. We had her tied to chairs where the moms sit and she suddenly would not sit still and started pulling me, chair and all, toward Brianna. We called Bri over to check her sugar and sure enough she was low. What an amazing dog and wonderful companion for Brianna. She alerted again during the basketball game on Saturday, gym full of people and Brianna out in the middle of floor doing cheer. Zoey was going crazy prior to halftime but I figured we would check her sugar after the floor cheer. By the time the cheer was complete Brianna was feeling the symptoms of being low so it took a bit more the bring her up than if we had done it when Zoey told us she was low. Won't put it off again when Zoey tells us her sugar needs to be checked!! Since last week Zoey has only missed one out of range level, pretty outstanding for a 1 year old pup. We are so truly blessed for finding N.I.D.A.D. Zoey went to school the last two days and stayed all day, acting like the perfect student! Will post photos tomorrow when Zoey and Bri are not so tired:-) Thank you again Breanne for everything!!!

Stressful first day of school for Bri and Zoey but they both handled things beautifully. Zoey accurately alerted at 11:30 last night and in middle of 5th grade assembly introducing her. Can't wait to spread the word about these wonderful trainers!! Thanks to Brea and Ed for all of your incredible support and love to give us such an incredible blessing in Zoey!

Zoey had a very busy morning with great alerts at each location. She went with me to brunch, then a beautiful walk out at the Sundial Bridge, and a few more errands before heading home. Public access with alerting is going great!

Zoey is currently with me up in Cottonwood, Ca. She was amazing on the ride up to Northern California. She is continuing to work on her car, night, and public alerts. So proud of this little angel at my side.

Zoey is doing great with her "scent" training. She really loves the rewards that she gets, no matter if it comes from a treat or as praise. Way to go Zoey!

Zoey has been doing wonderful on her "low distraction" scent training. We are now slowly adding more and more distractions. She loves to "play the games" that are involved with scent work and the treats and praises that she gets while doing it are the best to her!
