The typhoon has subsided, at least for now. The aftermath? Thousands of animal lives lost, most likely a lot more than humans'. 💔
Our team is dedicated to speaking up for the voiceless. And it absolutely breaks our hearts knowing that we, as a country, are still way behind with thinking of our furry companions when emergencies and calamities arise.
This is an appeal to, not just the PH government, but also to all pet owners. Please, please come up with emergency plans for your furry friends. Include them in your thoughts at all times no matter how difficult the situation is. Because their lives matter just as much.
We understand not everyone believes this. God knows how many times we've been hurt for hearing news about pet owners having to leave their pets behind because rescuers asked them to. Or hearing about pet owners realizing they've forgotten about their pets, and by the time they remembered, it's already way too late. Or not being able to bring pets to evacuation areas as they do not allow animals. I mean, really? It's a life or death scenario and some choose to only be accommodating to humans and not consider the fact that every living creature is in grave danger? We understand that the drive for survival in emergency cases is strong. But how much nicer and easier would it be if every person keeps compassion in their hearts, and bring about kindness to all living creatures in the midst of chaos?
We strongly stand by our belief that all lives matter. If you are with us, we encourage you to tap people in power to create disaster plans for the voiceless. We'll do much better as a nation if we start to think more about others, including those who cannot speak for themselves. 🙏
