Well McEntire is living the life with a few mares his size who accepted him into their herd like he always belonged there. They all kissed him! The BEST outcome for him. He was a bo**er at competition, and I don't blame him. If I was his age, I would've been over it too. Pyper was frustrated and it showed. But to me, they won the cutest award. They received 5th overall, and that's okay. It just wasn't their day. It's hard letting go of such a sweetheart, but I have comfort that his home is the best I could've wished for him. I have no doubt he will live the remainder of his life there, happily.

How we Promoted McEntire:
1. The Girl's had Lemonade Stands and posted on Salado People to come and support their endeavors with Bluebonnet. We had puppies there too.
2. They took their horses to Garey Park in Georgetown and talked to all the kids about their competition, explained their horses were up for adoption, and let them pet them.
3. They took Invites (over 100) to school and passed them out to their friends and teachers. The Principal and possibly the Vice Principal said she would be there.
4. They submitted an article for Thursday's local paper.
5. They have put up flyers in town at local establishments announcing the competition.

I call this "I do not want a bath" I get this expression from Pyper as well, mainly because it means bed right after. McEntire hasn't had as many baths as Mayo because he is not a Pig Pen rolling around in every mud puddle he can find. So he feels he is dignified and clean without one! But this day, he needed a bath, it was hot out, and we are at convenient facilities. He wasn't feeling it.

I chose this picture because you can see the difference in the reaction between the horses! LOL. Mayo was NOT having it. He did calm down , but as you can see McEntire is cool and looking at Mayo like "What's your malfunction?"

This guy is the sweetest but isn't a dead head by any means! He has opinions, he isn't the most motivated to move any quicker than what he wants to do. He can do everything just fine, but really why? He just wants to be loved and fed treats and tender green grass. He wants a nice little stall to go into at his leisure at night, to stay away from those bo**ers. His trainer and him are two peas in a pod. They argue like siblings, but also appreciate each other and watch out for each other.

We've been finalizing routines, costumes, etc. Since we are working two horses at the same time, one horse is often off the side waiting his turn. Pyper decided a bit of noodle training was good while they waited. McEntire's expression says it all "Are you kidding me? I'm bomb proof" LOL!

We ran into our neighbors and classmates of the girls. I posted this picture on Mayo’s page as well. I will say that many kids approached McEntire and was able to love on him. He took it so well and as long as he got some grass here and there, he was great!!! Never once did he act ugly with all the attention from little hands. He is such a sweetheart.

Pyper loved the obstacle course at Garry park. I’m not sure the cowboy curtain did a whole lot!! Ha! Ha!

Working on the narrow space. Was a windy day and thought we might have some resistance but he is such a good desensitized boy. As long as he has had his grain, he is good to go!!

Went to Garey Park in Georgetown to try out the obstacle course and horseback riding lessons. It was fun until it got hot!!! McEntire loved all the available green grass!!

McEntire was awesome tonight and we figured out something about our little man. If you feed him an hour before you work him, he’ll do everything you ask. If you don’t, he’ll be a little hangry. The wagon pull was so no scary for this guy. He did awesome. Pyper was on her game too. Proud of them both.

While we all love dogs - and I personally want to pet ALL the dogs - this year we're not allowed to have dogs at the event, unless they're service dogs under the ADA Title II and Title III.

No McEntire didn’t.grow, this is our other bluebonnet adopted horse Lahna. She is a people person horse. Pyper worked McEntire this morning and played with the big horses this afternoon. She also rode Mayo, even trotting some. McEntire wasn’t exactly happy being left behind in his pasture. He was by himself for a while. I don’t think to was so much missing Mayo, it was him saying “unfair! Unfair! I want out!” LOL.
