I hope everyone has a safe and Happy New Year!
While the Lord has truly blessed me with being able to wake up each morning want to go to work and do my job with these animals. It truly has been a year of losses and lots of learning. Yes, I have made furever friends in these babies. A few things I learned from grooming this year:
1) When having a new client in front of you, truly listen the what the customer is asking haircut wise. If the haircut isn’t what was wanted the first time take from the pros and cons. You have to remember that this isn’t your pet and everyone has a style preference. You’ll get THAT proper haircut eventually. 💕
2) These pets come from all kinds of backgrounds (rescues, abuse situations, breeding facilities, neglect cases, etc.) Listening to their needs is your number one priority. Some pups need more attention then others. The whole relationship is built from trust!
3) Each pup will give you a specific lesson. All of these guys are special in their own way.
4) This job is rewarding! You can take a severely matted dog and free him/her from all of the pressure the matting gives. You can turn that scared dog into one that trust groomers again. You give these pets a spa day they deserve.
5) NO MATTER how many times a dog a**l glands on you, pees/poops on your table…it never gets any better🤦🏽♀️
6) As much as we try not to grow attached to these babies, we still grow to accept them as our family. When I hear that one of my clients is moving away or has passed, it’s hurts. It never gets easier💕😭
7) This job is not for everyone. I LOVE my job, I’m knowledgeable in it. I want to continue learning to be better and to grow to be the best that I can be. With that being said I am going to continue to do that, because this isn’t a job to me…this is my passion. 💕
With all the above being said I can’t wait to continue grooming and I will see everyone of you in 2023! 🎊
