Momma and I took our first really good walk of the New Year today and then we had an excellent training session. I was, as always, a very good boy.

Momma has gotten a little relaxed in my formal training sessions so we discussed it over the holiday break. We've agreed to four goals for the new year: earn
Trick dog title, go to at least 23 nights of dog training classes together, do a minimum of 23 dedicated training sessions every month and be ready to take therapy dog certification exam at the end of the year.

Any other doggos have goals for 2023

Mom is doing a lot of traveling for work right now so I stay with Grandpa and Aunt Susie. I miss mom but she calls every night and Grandpa invites me up into his lap so we can talk to her.

I had my first big boy check up this morning with our wonderful friends at Oaklandon Family Vet. The doctor pronounced me absolutely perfect.

I'm a smart and good boy. Momma and I finished obedience class together. Next week we start our next class which is novice obedience. One of the ladies said "He might bark a little until he settles but you two clearly love working together."

Tonight in obedience class momma asked Maddie to work with me for a bit. Maddie's dog Leo is really big but I'm the perfect size. Maddie did an awesome job and I was a very good boy.

This is my grandpa. Today he got to see me do my work. We visited a friend of his in a rehab facility who misses her doggos. She was so sweet and gave me lots of pets.

Momma and I visited with M & G today - our two hospice patients. I struggled with the elevator a little in one of the facilities but otherwise, I was a good boy. One of our patients really likes me and I can tell that I make his day when we visit. Loving being a volunteer with .

Momma and I need to discuss boundaries again. I moved into this position while sleeping. It's been a big day. I had to spend an hour alone in the car and then we visited with Aunt Gayle's momma in assisted living. I was a very, very good boy and I am very tired.

During a visit with Gigi's Playhouse Down Syndrome Achievement Center, therapy dog Woodson was making his rounds and saying hello when he stopped to focus on one participant. He leaned in as she was petting him, and she wrapped her arms around him and started to cry. They stayed that way for a few minutes and the staff said they have never seen her be still for that long.

For those we visit who are not always able to discuss their emotions, our therapy dogs have a way of calming what cannot be expressed through words.
