It’s time to change the law, one paw at a time 🐾
Federal Animal Rights laws in Canada are severely outdated, with Canada even receiving a grade of ‘D’ from the World Animal Protection Index.
In fact, under Canadian Federal law animals are still classified as property instead of as sentient beings, creating weak laws that leave ownerless animals like strays without protection and cause complications in custody disputes during divorces or theft.
92% of Canadians support stronger animal rights laws. Despite this, change has been difficult to implement.
We are excited to announce that all weekend (Saturday and Sunday) from 10am-4pm you can bring your pet to ADR Orillia and have them sign the pet-ition. This initiative has been created by and it is their goal to change Federal Law to recognize animals as Sentient Beings instead of merely as property; a change which both New Zealand and the UK have already made.

If you’re not sure how hot the asphalt feels on their paws, hold the back of your hand on the ground for 7 seconds. If it’s too hot for you, it’s too hot for your pup!
When possible, follow these simple rules:
1. Avoid pavement
2. Use paw balm or booties
3. Walk during the morning or later in the evening
4. Always have plenty of fresh, clean drinking water available
5. Use a wet bandanna to keep extra cool during walk time

🌼 Sardine - great source of Omega-3 fatty acids which are crucial for healthy skin & coat.
🌼 Chicken Heart - these are high in protein, which is crucial for cats since they are obligate carnivores (meaning they need meat to survive). These are also rich in TAURINE, which is an essential amino acid for cats, necessary for proper heart function and vision. Cats are not able to synthesize enough taurine on their own (like other pets can), so they must obtain it through their diet.
🌼 We recently brought home a lick mat from the shop for Sassy because as she grows she has been eating faster and faster. Lick mats are a great way to slow down eating which can help with digestion, reduce bloat, and make meal time more fun.
