Allow me to share an EXCELLENT study I found that was published in the Journal of Orthopaedic Research:
"Effect of pulsed electromagnetic fields (PEMF) on late-phase osteotomy gap healing in a canine tibial model"

This research article outlines the effects that PEMF therapy had on late-stage healing in dogs that had a transverse tibial osteotomy performed. Essentially, from 4-12 weeks post-op, researchers administered PEMF to a group dogs that had a tiny sliver of tibia removed (this is done to correct instabilities/misalignments). The findings were summarized as follows:
"This study showed that PEMF stimulation provided faster recovery of dynamic load-bearing, a significant increase in new-bone formation, and a higher mechanical strength of a healing mid-tibia osteotomy."
This is in comparison with a control group of dogs that had the same surgery but did not receive PEMF therapy. While a bit old (2001), the study is straightforward and gives excellent results using criteria that makes sense for analyzing results in a being that cannot rate their pain on a scale of 1-10.
