📦If you have any items around your home that you no longer need, we have an easy and convenient way for you to donate them. You can drive into our Animal Centre car park 𝗧𝗢𝗠𝗢𝗥𝗥𝗢𝗪 between 9am-12pm, drop off your donations, and drive away!

🐾Your donations will be sold in our charity shops and online stores to raise vital funds for the animals in our care. As a self-funded charity, our shops are one of our main sources of income and help us to continue giving animals in need the second chance they deserve.

🧸We are also desperately in need of prizes for our tombola stalls at our upcoming fundraising events! If you have any unwanted soft toys, gifts, or unopened bottles, we would be so grateful if you could donate them to our branch!

Over the past month, six police dogs have been attacked in the line of duty, with one fatality. This demonstrates the ever increasing dangers that are present to serving police dogs across the United Kingdom. Yet, it is still not a regulatory or legal requirement for police forces to issue personal protective equipment (PPE) for example stab vests to police dogs, nor is it a regulatory or legal requirement for canine specific first aid kits to be installed within police dog vehicles.

It is unacceptable that this is still the case eight years after Police Dog Finn was stabbed in the line of duty in 2016. The lack of progress in upgrading the welfare support to serving police dogs is placing these heroic dogs in extreme danger, as without enhancements in PPE we will see more injuries and fatalities.

Therefore, we are seeking an urgent review by Home Secretary Yvette Cooper, and Policing Minister Diana Johnson, to ensure that this is top priority over the coming weeks and months.

🪿🦆PLEASE DO NOT FEED BREAD TO DUCKS & GEESE 🦆🪿 Feeding bread causes permanent damage to ducks and geese. They develop angel wing. They can not migrate or fly to avoid predators.
Cracked corn, corn, peas, mealworms, romaine lettuce, watermelon, grapes CUT into pieces, cantaloupe……are a few good options!

🐶We still have spaces available on our upcoming Puppy/Basic Training course starting on Wednesday evening (24th July) at Denhale Arc!

Your dog will learn vital foundation skills to help them behave inside and outside the home, around distractions and other dogs, including:
🐾How to sit and lie down
🐾How to get and keep your puppy’s attention
🐾How to cope with being handled by a vet and groomer
🐾How to walk nicely on the lead
🐾To go to their bed when asked
🐾To leave food and toys when asked
🐾How to come back when you call them
🐾How to stay

How much weight can a horse carry? 🐴

They can carry the weight of broken hearts, broken homes, and broken bodies. Countless tears sometimes comb their tangled manes. Moments when parents and friends cannot be there to help and hold a person, horses embrace and empower. They carry physical, mental, and emotional handicaps. They carry hopes and dreams; and they will carry the stress from your day when you can’t carry it anymore.
They carry graduations, they carry new careers, they carry moves away from everything familiar, they carry marriages, they carry divorces, they carry funerals, they carry babies before they are born, and sometimes they carry the mothers who cannot carry their own baby. They carry mistakes, they carry joy, they carry the good and they carry the bad. They carry drugs and addictions, but they also carry the celebrations.

They will carry you to success when all you have felt is failure. They will carry you, never knowing the weight of your burdens and triumphs.

If you let them, they will carry you through life, and life is hard, life is heavy. But a horse will make you feel weightless under it all.

People of all ages with physical and mental disabilities obtain beneficial results from an association with horses. Therapeutic riding is used to mentally and physically stimulate disabled persons and help them improve their lives through improved balance and coordination, increased self-confidence, and a greater feeling of freedom and independence. Hippo therapy and therapeutic horseback riding are names for different physical, occupational, and speech therapy treatment strategies that use equine movement. In hippotherapy, a therapist uses the horse's movement to improve their patient's cognitive, coordination, balance, and fine motor skills, whereas therapeutic horseback riding uses specific riding skills.

Horses also provide psychological benefits to people whether they actually ride or not. "Equine-assisted" or "equine-facilitated" therapy is a form of experiential psychotherapy that uses horses as companion animals to assist people with mental illness, including anxiety disorders, psychotic disorders, mood disorders, behavioral difficulties, and those who are going through major life changes.
