Today would have been LBR's 20th Anniversary. By the time I closed the rescue, over 3,000 boxers saved and adopted to loving families.

I look back on those days fondly, and I'm sad it's over. But I don't miss the work that went into it, or the late night disaster calls. Since Damon died, and I became a one income household, my paying job had to take precedence. I never, ever, considered taking a large salary to run this rescue. I never took more than the cost of a vanilla latte from the tip jar (once or twice). ❤️

I made mistakes running this rescue, I fully admit that. I never wanted to run a business, I wanted to save boxers. In that, I did a lot wrong, but what I did right by the Boxers we saved far outweighs that. ❤️💔

I have made so many amazing friends during this Legacy of love. Too many to name. I love you all.

P.S. The boxer in this pic, I named Sage. She was my first shelter pull in 2002, two years before Legacy was formed. She was adopted and named Lily. She became a wonderful foster sister to many LBR dogs in her life. ❤️

I got a Memorial tattoo of LBR Alum Hooper on Saturday. It's not completed yet, but 4.5 hours of inking was plenty. 🤣😳

This is Dexter. Dexter is the last foster dog with LBR and he's my foster. ❤️ Dexter is about 5 years old, super handsome, about 75 lbs, and needs to be an only dog. He loves to play with other dogs, but there are triggers that make him an only dog candidate. Food motivated and has a quirk about people knocking on the door that we need to discuss before adoption. Please share to help us find him the perfect home. ❤️

As some of you know, my LBR Alum Hooper, my Shark Boy, passed away last Saturday at age 7 from Dilated Cardiomyopathy. 😪 Hooper was my little Shark Boy, and this work of art means the world to me. ❤️

This custom muddy boxer in the bath with shark is dedicated to Hooper and Sharon. Many of you don't know but when I first started offering artwork to rescues, I didn't exactly get a warm reception. Many rescues either completely ignored me or flat out declined.
One of the first rescues to welcome Management and I, and our goal of helping raise money for rescue boxers was Legacy Always in Texas. Thank you Sharon and the Legacy followers for helping us on our mission to contribute to rescues through art. Hooper will be sorely missed 🌈

Hi Friends, Fans and Constant Supporters,

This hurts my heart to post this, but it's time.

The time has come to make this announcement. I have made the decision to close Legacy Boxer Rescue forever. I was dedicated to LBR from late 2003 until late 2016. After Damon passed, I no longer had the desire or drive I once had. Thankfully, some wonderful volunteers continued the Legacy until about 2021.

The lawsuit, which started over 3 years ago, which very sadly ended with Bowen’s passing this year, was a huge toll on LBR’s finances. But I would have done nothing differently. Bowen deserved to be fought for!

I am simply done. I started my rescue journey when I adopted Ginger from NCBR in 2002. 20 years of rescue is a LONG time! The heartache and drama sometimes overcome the wins.

I will always continue to rescue animals. Be they boxer, or otherwise. It’s in my blood, but I can no longer be the Proud Pack Leader at Legacy that I once was. But know, that I am so VERY thankful for the friendships I have made, the loyalty of everyone that has ever volunteered for LBR and the amazing amount of love that I have witnessed as we rescued over 3,000 Boxers as a team!

Legacy was a force in the rescue world, and we mentored many a new and upcoming rescue over the years. I am so very proud of all this team, and our fans, have accomplished over the years!!

Without your Constant Support throughout the years, we would not have been able to accomplish all that we have.

We are working with Austin Boxer Rescue/ Boxer Rescue to take on LBR’s current dogs needing adoption, and they will also be taking any returns et al as time marches forward.

We currently have 3 fosters, Laverne, Thatcher and Dexter. Laverne will be moved to a new foster home soon, and she’s a gem if you’re interested. Thatcher is Adoption Pending, but should something happen, we will continue to care for his needs. Dexter will remain a foster with me and Tammy until we can find a suitable home with ABR’s assistance. You can apply with DFW Boxer Rescue!

Again, thank you, from the bottom of my heart for always being here for the Boxers who needed us, and for being my friend. You have all left a legacy to be very proud of!!

Let me introduce you to this handsome boy named Thatcher. He is a 3 year old, 80 pound boy but don't let that scare you. He is actually very gentle for his size. He is neutered and has a docked tail. Thatcher is crate-trained up to 9 hours and is house-trained. He knows simple commands like sit, shake, and wait. He doesn't really play with toys much but LOVES to cuddle. He is very chill but can get the typical hyper boxer energy from time to time but has to quickly recover with a 30 minute nap 😂. He is dog friendly and kid friendly but has not been tested with cats but judging by his character, I don't think he would mind cats at all. He is such a good boy. And yes, his tongue does hang out from the side of his mouth and I love it. It gives him personality!
