Food aggression is something you need to nip in the bud really early. From day one we've always annoyed Roxie a little whilst she's eating to make sure she gets used to having her meal interrupted. We'll...
1. Always make her wait until our command before she's allowed to eat (this normally involved a lot of salivating (her, not us) whilst she's waiting)
2. Stop her from eating half way through her meal, take the food away, and make her wait before letting her finish
3. Tickle her and play with her ears/head to get her used to the feel of other dogs eating from the same food source
However, there are times when she still gets a little protective around her food. Like today in fact, when she was chowing down on some frozen duck necks (her new favourite snack) and she thought I was going to take them away from her.
So rather than let her get away with it, I ran through the whole food training routine again, and recorded it on video. The sounds she makes are hilarious!
Enjoy
