A special brew of my 2 favorite breeds-naked neck and barred rock ever since I started obsessing over naked neck chickens a few years ago I started seeing photos of this mix and was determined to one day have it. Well, out of the 15 eggs we hatched from our barred rock/NNs I ended up with 1!!!! And he is my and joy. And yes. Of course it's a rooster 6 but that's actually kind of good because I can use him over my hens and hopefully get more of the barred/NN mix.

You might notice Frankie has a droopy eye. She is my little miracle chicken. She survived an accident in the 1st days of her life which should have been fatal. Her brood hen accidentally stood on her head crushing her skull.Frankie is now one of our most valuable broody hens hatching at high rates and being an amazing, nurturing hen to the chicks.

One of our two Rhode Island Red roosters,named Broken Toe. He's had one crooked toe since he was a baby chick and it ended up saving him from the chopping block; he was the only one we could easily differentiate from all the others, so the kids bonded with him. He's quite the handsome man now, isn't he?
