ARTISTS GUIDELINES FOR BUILDING A SPIRIT CAT HOUSE:
Deadline for Completion: July 31,2022
TO ENTER YOUR SPIRIT CAT HOUSE YOU MUST REGISTER AT THIS LINK -https://forms.gle/hwCXSRPd6yBubevY9
Artists Guidelines:
1 ) The Spirit Cat House is purely decorative. It does not need NOT to be functional, it does not need to be hollow. The house needs to be able to endure in an outdoor environment for a
prolonged time period.
2) The Spirit Cat House you create will ultimately be attached to a wood pedestal that Garden City Community Cats Project will provide. Your spirit cat house needs be securely mounted to flat board which must be a minimum of a half inch thick so we can securely attach it to a 4 x 4” standard wood post.
3) The houses should be approximately 14 - 16 inches (length, width, height). Any shape – rectangle, square, round, amorphous - is acceptable. Turrets, steeples, figurines etc. may extend outside of those parameters
Your Spirit Cat House should be of a size that could fit a single cat but it is only decorative and will not actually be used to house a cat. We encourage creativity and diversity in exterior material and appearances. The exterior may be smooth and painted or have objects attached to it.
4) On the front side of each house there should be a painted or a constructed door. It is meant to be a representational door, not a functional door. We would love to see some model cats placed within or climbing on the exterior of your homes1
5) You may choose to design a house to be placed in front of a specific type of business in Garden City. You are welcome to partner with a local business who may want to participate. (A winery could have a house made of cork or glass in front of it, a RV center may have a miniature RV home, a mechanic may have a house decorated with nuts and bolts, coffee houses may want a tea kettle home, etc)
