South Yorkshire Hound Society has space at their forthcoming Open Show on Saturday 12th July at Hillstown Village hall near Bolsover to co-host if any Hound breed club is looking for a venue.

We already have a couple of breed clubs joining us already but welcome any others who may be looking for a venue.

Entries are now closed and we are pleased to announce that we have a total entry of 445 for this years Open Show on Sunday 14th July.

Being a club run by Hound people we understand how busy it is with having shows around the closing date so as Blackpool was yesterday, we have agreed a weeks extension for entries to SYHS.

The new final deadline is now 30th June which helps with pay day too.

Meet The Judge - Heather McKenzie is judging Whippets at our forthcoming open show on Sunday 14th July at Hillstown Village Hall near Bolsover.

Heather was brought up with family dogs and knowledge of whippets from her dad who raced and lure coursed whippets back in the 1980s.

In 2007, Heather went to a local ringcraft training with her whippet puppy ā€˜Gerā€™ and caught the showing bug at 13 years old. In 2008 the Aberlark kennel was established and she has been showing whippets ever since.

Heather has travelled all over the UK showing whippets which are jointly owned and bred with her family. She is proud of the success she has had with her dogs at both Championship and Open level with multiple RCCs, Studbook numbers, Best Puppy in Breed, Best Veteran in Breed and a very special Reserve Best Veteran at Whippet of the Year 2022 with her home bred Bitch, Aberlark Cookies N Cream.

Heather began judging whippets in 2015 and thoroughly enjoy the hands on experience. She is very grateful to SYWC for supporting her upcoming judging appointment and thanks to the committee of SYHC for inviting her to judge a breed she loves most.
