We are excited to announce that breeding has taken place and we should have puppies due around August 1!!
Northern Star's Katching the Wind, JH (aka Harley) has been bred to 4X NSTRA Ch Outlaw Willie Little Pants (aka Willie).
Harley is a beautiful young female who is a 4th generation of our breeding program. She is a smaller female at 28 lbs, but she has a big motor which where her call name came from. She is very fast and athletic and LOVES birds...she is stunning on point. Harley has a fun personality and loves everyone. She's very smart and wants to please. Harley's sire, Bony Bud, was a true AA horseback dog with a pedigree you won't find anywhere else. Harley's dam is my liver female "Kat", aka CH Northern Star's Katch Me If You Can. Kat is everyone's favorite dog to hunt behind or snuggle with and one of my best producing females. Harley is OFA Good.
Sire of this, Willie, is one of my all-time favorite dogs, and was bred here at Northern Star Brittanys. He is owned and loved by Mark and Darlene Donovan of Bozeman, MT. Willie has had a wonderful career competing in NSTRA and is still competitive at 11 years old. He is a phenomenal wild bird dog as well as a loving companion. Willie's sire Footluce Louie Little Pants was an 8X NSTRA Ch and Willie's grandfather, Montana's Rusty Little Pants was a 6X NSTRA Ch. Willie's mother was a very special female, Suggs Royal Princess, MH. Princess was truly a once-in-a-lifetime dog for me who was lost in a freak accident at age 5; she was a direct daughter of NFC FC AFC Shambo's Dark Shadow. Her female line came from Rick Smith lines. We're excited to announce our Spring 2023 litter! Breeding has taken place and pregnancy will be confirmed via ultrasound in February. Fingers crossed we will have puppies due in mid-March, ready for their new homes in mid-May.

Our beautiful female "Allie" (Northern Star's Kahlua On Ice) has been bred to Bruce Heiter's exciting dog "Casey" (FC AFC Kid's Royal Casey). I considered several really nice stud dogs when I made the decision to breed Allie, but in the end I felt breeding her to this excellent, frozen semen son of NAFC DC AFC Renegade's Kansas Kid was the right choice for her.

Casey's is a handsome, stylish gundog dog whose record in the field speaks for itself. His pedigree is pure Brittany royalty both top and bottom. Casey is OFA Good.

Allie is one of the nicest young females I've been privileged to own and I'm proud to be her breeder. She has a pleasing, biddable personality and was one of the easiest dogs her previous co-owner, Kevin Stonehouse ever trained. He was guiding with her at 10 months of age and she was completely whoa broke, force-fetched, backing by 14 months. Allie is fast and snappy in the field and will start her NSTRA career later this spring after pups are weaned. Allie is PennHip .35, .35 and OFA will be done later this year.

Side note: My foundation female (Allie's gr-gr-grandmother) "Star" (Bullet's Northern Star) was sired by 32x NSTRA Ch Nolan's Last Bullet. Star's mother was Windancer Kansas Star, a frozen semen daughter of Renegade's Kansas Kid. I remember reaching out to Kid's owner, Diana Kubitz, many, many years ago to see if I could possibly get a Kid daughter but there was very limited semen available and a long waiting list for any potential litter.
I truly believe the cross between Nolan's Last Bullet with Kid daughters was one of the best crosses and produced great dogs such as FC AFC Brook's Little Pete, Bullet's Renegade Miss Megan who produced NGDC NAGDC FC AFC Peter Gunn, Beeline Miss Abigail, 2X NSTRA K-Nine's Beeline Bullet, 11X NSTRA Ch Split Creek's Medicine Man, 15X NSTRA Ch Beeline Bullet's Bravado to name a few. My hope with this cross is to recreate some of this magic and produce stylish, brag-worthy birddogs!

As with all of our litters we provide a health and hip guarantee, pups have their first shots, wormings, lots of love and socialization and prepaid registration. Littler will be Futurity nominated.

Northern Star Brittanys welcomed a beautiful litter of puppies that were whelped on 11-19-22 and will be ready for their new homes mid-January. We have one, possibly two liver and white males available from this very special litter. Both male pups were natural bobtails like their sire, Indy, and his grandpa Hobey.
Sire of this litter is GCH DC Wingra's Indy-GO! "Indy" is a handsome young dog who has accomplished so much and just recently turned 4 years old. Indy was shown at the 2022 ABC Nationals in Fort Smith, AR last month where he won the Dual Champion Sweepstakes and made the cut in the tough Best of Breed competition under the capable hand of Jessica Carlson. Indy's field record includes 4 hour placements including winning the Southern Open Brittany Championship early this year handled by Kyle Merrill. Indy also won a 45-dog Open All Age Stake in Thayer, Iowa this fall handled by Ed Tillson. We believe Indy has a tremendous future ahead of him and feel fortunate to have had the opportunity to breed to him. Indy's sire is the well-known and popular GFC DC Almaden's Under Lock and Key, better known as "Oudi", who was sired by GCH DC Masked Jack of Diamonds. Indy is out of Andi Christensen's lovely female, Ch FireStarter's Chasing the Sunset "Rae", who is a daughter of NBOB BIS BISS DC GC Sovereign's Chasing Legends "Hobey". Indy is OFA Good.
Mother of this litter is my beautiful female, CH Northern Star's Katch Me If You Can "Kat". This is Kat's final litter and she has produced top quality offspring in her previous litters. Kat finished her show championship with Jessica Carlson, but where she really shines is in the field. Kat is fast and snappy in the field and will hunt until you make her stop. She's hunted many varieties of birds across the midwest and was used two seasons on a guide string and literally had 800-1000 birds shot over her each season. Kat is always the fan favorite to hunt behind and believes every bird should be hers to proudly deliver to hand. Kat's sire is the handsome DC Schonhund's Winning Wager "Bogey" who is owned by Emmy Wollenburg. Kat's mother was my beloved female, "Lacey" who was sired by GCH DC Masked Jack of Diamonds and out of my foundation female, Bullet's Northern Star, who was a direct daughter of 32X NSTRA CH Nolan's Last Bullet. Love seeing pictures and getting updates on pups I've bred. Here are two littermate brothers at 16 months from our 2021 cross between 3x NSTRA CH Outlaw Willie Little Pants (Willie) x CH Northern Star's Katch Me If You Can (Kat). Just an FYI...both Willie and Kat were from (different)breedings I've done here over the years. I'm not a big time breeder, typically only raise one litter a year. The greatest joy I have is seeing the strength of the genetics come through that produces healthy, high quality, brag worthy birddogs
Tentative plans are to repeat this cross early next year for Kat's final litter.

Proud breeder brag. NSTRA Ch Double Shot of Jack Daniels (GCH DC Masked Jack of Diamonds x Bullet's Northern Star). At the 2022 NSTRA Trial of Champions in Amo, IN they started with 128 dogs. Jack made the cut through Rounds 1 and 2. In Round 3 this morning he missed making the cut to Round 4 by one place; only the top 12 scores moved on to Round 4 and Jack's score put him in 13th place. It was one of the best scoring runs he's ever had, but he needed a third bird and his bracemate beat him to it by a matter of seconds. This dog gives his all every time owner Kevin Stonehouse turns him loose in a trial. During the off-season he is a phenomenal wild bird dog and guide dog. Thank you Kevin for believing in him and developing him to the dog Jack is today. You are "his person" and the two of you are a team in every sense of the word.

We are excited to announce our spring 2022 litter due 4-2-22! CH Northern Star's Katch Me If You Can aka "Kat" has been bred via frozen semen to Bony Bud aka "Bud".
Bud was a true All-Age dog who would easily have finished his FC/AFC, however his owner retired from horseback field trials when Bud was just shy of finishing his championships. He was a tremendous wild bird dog and was also used on guided hunts and was a natural retriever. Bud was linebred Jamar Reno and his pedigree is stacked with the greatest dogs in the Brittany breed. Bred to females of various bloodlines, Bud has proven himself to be a very preponent sire. His offspring are bold and confident, athletic, natural birddogs who learn easily and quickly. Bud was a wh/orange dog, 32 lbs, and was OFA Excellent. Bud passed at 13 years of age: this will be his first frozen semen litter.
Kat is my beautiful liver/wh female and this will be her third litter. Kat was handled to her show championship by Jessica Carlson. She is fast and snappy in the field and could easily compete and be successful in NSTRA. She is all business in the field and will hunt hard until you make her stop: she has literally had hundreds of birds shot over her and is an enthusiastic natural retriever. She's captured the hearts of everyone who has met her with her kind, silly personality. Kat's pedigree includes great dogs like GCH DC Masked Jack of Diamonds, NFC/FC/AFC Shambo's Dark Shadow, 32x NSTRA CH Nolan's Last Bullet to name a few. Kat is OFA Good
We believe this litter could be one of our best yet. In 2020 we bred a half sister of Kat's to Bud. We kept a female pup from that litter and at 15 months of age she is rock solid on her birds, backs, retrieves to hand and is getting ready to run in her first NSTRA trial later this month. Other pups from that litter are showing the same traits and characteristics as well.
Pups will come with a hip and health guarantee as always. Availability will be limited with preference given to competition or serious hunting homes.

Speaking of starting the fall NSTRA season off with a bang...huge congratulations to "Jack" - NSTRA Ch Double Shot of Jack Daniels (GCH DC Masked Jack of Diamonds x Bullet's Northern Star) and his best friend and co-owner Kevin Stonehouse! Jack finished his Open Championship back in May and after a summer break picked up where he left off. He took a third place in Colorado (behind his young daught Spark who took second!), and then took a first the following weekend in Waverly, NE, and followed that up on 9-12-21 in Salina, Kansas with another first! He currently has 25 Open points with 21 of them coming from first placements. Couldn't be prouder of Jack and Kevin! Jack sired a nice litter of pups this summer for Brian Bauer and has a very nice litter due later this month in Hawaii for Rick Lee.

The fall NSTRA season is off to a great start! My girl "Sam" - Northern Star's Diamond Laced Bullet (10X NSTRA CH HOF Windswept's Clay Bullet x Northern Star's Diamonds & Lace, JH)- has been to three trials, one in Colorado, one in Nebraska and one in Kansas. Sam had placements/earned points at all three trials, but the highlight was at the Kansas trial on 9-11-21 when she took 1st in both Open and Amatuer! This finished her Amatuer Championship and she now has 6 open points towards her Open Championship. She's running great and so consistently...thank you so much to Kevin Stonehouse for all his hard work and expert handling of Sam! None of this would be possible without him!

Puppies moved to bigger, better living quarters today with more room to move and play. They will start learning to sleep in a crate and think of it as a safe good place on their own without even knowing it. 4 weeks old tomorrow. Mom Kat will hang out with them to make the transition less scary.

Puppies turned 3 weeks old on Tuesday! They were sleepy puppies but I tried to get some pictures anyway. Nails were trimmed and first worming done and they are eating puppy mush 1x a day.
