🧡Bernie Update🧡

Thank you to everyone who has donated and supported Bernie through his recovery. 🙏 This sweet boy is doing so much better thanks to your kindness and generosity!

He’s still receiving care at Can & Cats Veterinary Clinic, where the amazing team — especially Dr. Marcos — has been giving him so much love and attention. 🩺🐾

Bernie continues his weekly medicated baths, Dermoscent Oil treatments (thank you, Emily, for the Amazon Wishlist donation 💛), and immunity boosters. He’ll be rechecking his bloodwork next week as he keeps getting stronger every day.

Our adoption flight from Guadalajara to Portland last weekend was a huge success! 🎉 Two of our long-term fosters — both large breed dogs who’ve waited over a year for their forever homes — finally got their happy endings! 🐾❤️ And how cool is this… sweet Eliza’s final destination is Alaska! ❄️✈️ From the streets of Mexico to the beautiful mountains of the north — talk about a freedom flight!

💔 This is Bernie. And he needs our help.
Bernie was found on the streets – severely malnourished, covered in advanced mange, and in desperate pain.
We couldn’t leave him to suffer alone. Sl we took him in. Right now, he’s hospitalized receiving antibiotics, immune support, and treatment for severe infections and GI distress caused by his condition. His little body is bravely fighting on multiple fronts.
🐾 The hard truth: Our rescue fund is completely empty. For the first time in four years, we have nothing left. We’ve been hemorrhaging money on medical cases this year, and without sponsors, we can’t continue saving dogs like Bernie.
But we refuse to give up on him..
Bernie deserves a chance. A chance to heal, to know kindness, and to get a chance at the life every dog should have.

Meet Tara – a brilliant 2-year-old supermom who’s absolutely nailing parenthood! This clever girl creates diversions so her babies can eat in peace and showers them with the kind of love that builds confident, secure pups. 💛
When she’s off mom-duty, you’ll find her playing with squeaky balls, soaking up sunshine, or enjoying a good bully stick. Even with a houseful of chaos, she stays calm, sweet, and affectionate.

And the pups? They’re pure joy wrapped in fuzzy chaos! 🐶
They’re ~9 weeks old and will be ready to fly to their forever homes when they’re about to reach 6 months.

✨🐾 09/16/2025 - Tomas Update! 🐾✨

We are beyond grateful to share that the full $3,000 needed for Tomas’s dental surgery has been raised! 🙌💖 Thanks to an incredible outpouring of love—from donations on GoFundMe, PayPal, and one unbelievably generous gift—Tomas will be going in for surgery on September 22nd.

His family now also has an extra cushion for his ongoing care (heart recheck in November + monthly meds), which is such a relief.

From the bottom of our hearts—THANK YOU. You’ve given Tomas the chance to heal and live pain-free. We’ll post updates after his surgery. 💕

Two years ago, Tomas was rescued from the streets of Mexico and found his forever family through our organization, The MexiMutt Project. At 8 years old, he finally had the safety and love every dog deserves.

But life hasn’t been easy since. Tomas has battled seizures, heart disease, ligament tears, and painful dental issues since being adopted 2 years ago and now, he urgently needs a second dental surgery so he can eat and heal properly.

The surgery is scheduled for September 22nd at Oregon Veterinary Dental Specialists. The cost has been reduced to $3,000 —but his family has already spent thousands keeping him alive, and they can’t cover this one alone.

The MexiMutt Project is facing its own financial hardships right now. Donations are down, and our rescue budget is stretched thin. But Tomas can’t wait—and we don’t want to let him down.
