Our adoption flight from Guadalajara to Portland last weekend was a huge success! 🎉 Two of our long-term fosters — both large breed dogs who’ve waited over a year for their forever homes — finally got their happy endings! 🐾❤️ And how cool is this… sweet Eliza’s final destination is Alaska! ❄️✈️ From the streets of Mexico to the beautiful mountains of the north — talk about a freedom flight!

💔 This is Bernie. And he needs our help.
Bernie was found on the streets – severely malnourished, covered in advanced mange, and in desperate pain.
We couldn’t leave him to suffer alone. Sl we took him in. Right now, he’s hospitalized receiving antibiotics, immune support, and treatment for severe infections and GI distress caused by his condition. His little body is bravely fighting on multiple fronts.
🐾 The hard truth: Our rescue fund is completely empty. For the first time in four years, we have nothing left. We’ve been hemorrhaging money on medical cases this year, and without sponsors, we can’t continue saving dogs like Bernie.
But we refuse to give up on him..
Bernie deserves a chance. A chance to heal, to know kindness, and to get a chance at the life every dog should have.

We are beyond grateful to share that the full $3,000 needed for Tomas’s dental surgery has been raised! 🙌💖 Thanks to an incredible outpouring of love—from donations on GoFundMe, PayPal, and one unbelievably generous gift—Tomas will be going in for surgery on September 22nd.

His family now also has an extra cushion for his ongoing care (heart recheck in November + monthly meds), which is such a relief.

Two years ago, Tomas was rescued from the streets of Mexico and found his forever family through our organization, The MexiMutt Project. At 8 years old, he finally had the safety and love every dog deserves.

But life hasn’t been easy since. Tomas has battled seizures, heart disease, ligament tears, and painful dental issues since being adopted 2 years ago and now, he urgently needs a second dental surgery so he can eat and heal properly.

The surgery is scheduled for September 22nd at Oregon Veterinary Dental Specialists. The cost has been reduced to $3,000 —but his family has already spent thousands keeping him alive, and they can’t cover this one alone.

The MexiMutt Project is facing its own financial hardships right now. Donations are down, and our rescue budget is stretched thin. But Tomas can’t wait—and we don’t want to let him down.

🚨 Urgent Rescue Story – Mom & 4 Newborns Need Sponsors 🚨

Last week, a mama dog and her 4 brand-new babies were heartlessly dumped outside our local vet clinic. 💔 Our vet called us desperate for help.

Normally, we don’t take litters of puppies — it’s extremely expensive and requires around-the-clock care — but when we saw this little family, we simply could NOT say no and this family had NO other options.

Because these pups are in Mexico, they must stay in our care for 6 months before they’re old enough to fly to their forever homes in Oregon through . That means months of puppy food, vaccines, vet visits, and supplies — another reason we urgently need help. 🍼🐾 We’re looking for sponsorships for each puppy.

👉 It costs *(at least) $300 usd per puppy to cover their care and give them the best chance at a bright future.

🖤 Meet Blackjack 🖤
 This sweet soul has been with us for 4 months… and he’s struggling in foster care. Living with 12 other dogs has been overwhelming for him — he spends most of his days hiding in his doghouse just to find a little peace.

Blackjack is not a pack dog. What he really wants is to be your one and only — your loyal little shadow. He’s incredibly affectionate, gentle, and so loving with people.

🐾 Age: 4 years (estimated by our vet) 🐾 Weight: 15 lbs 🐾 Breed: Shih Tzu / Lhasa Apso mix 🐾 Kid-friendly? He’s never been around young kids.

Blackjack’s story is heartbreaking — abandoned on a rooftop after his elderly owner passed away. Neighbors say he was always kept outside, fed only with scraps. But somehow, this sensitive boy still trusts, still loves, and still hopes. 💔

Blackjack needs a quiet, calm home with someone who’s around often and can offer him the gentle, steady love he’s never known.

Happy Willow! 🥳 We are celebrating your happily ever after and here is what her family has to say about their sweet girl….

“She loves the sun and being warm and will sit outside all day if it’s nice out. She loves when we play with her lamb chop (the first toy we bought her oà) by throwing it, racing her to it and letting her beat us, then chasing her while she runs with it in her mouth. She has learned and grown so much in the year that she has been a part of our family. Watching her learn to trust and love us has been so rewarding. She is an absolute joy — a curious, stubborn, tough, sweet natured, intelligent, totally neurodivergent lil baby who fits in beautifully with us. Everyone who meets her loves her and she has fans across the city. She is an absolute star in daycare at .pdx , beloved by dog and human alike. She steals the show wherever she goes with her gentle and sweet demeanor and, let’s be honest, her cute little face. Now that we’ve moved out of our little apartment and have a house with a yard for her, she’s really begun to understand that this is her turf and we are her family. I’m so happy with how far she’s come and so excited to see what the future brings.”

Happy Banzo! We are celebrating your happily ever after today! Here is what his family has to say about their sweet boy…. “We adopted Banzo from the in December of 2023. He is a former street dog from Guadalajara and somehow was up for adoption for months without any applications until us! He was found as a puppy and is now about a year and a half old. From the moment he arrived, we were best friends He has adjusted so well and gotten great at walking on leash which is something he had never done before. I work part time at a doggy daycare and I love that Banzo gets to come to work with me! He really loves playing there with his doggy friends. He’s also great around cats and overall just the best little guy ever! He is my emotional support animal and I love him so much. Banzo loves going on walks every day, snuggling with me and napping, and playing and doing enrichment puzzles. His favorite vegetable is carrots, he is obsessed with them! He’s a smart little guy and so far he knows “sit” and “wait” and I am hoping to teach him some more commands soon.”

DOGS: Yes, she can live with other calm dogs.

CATS: No, she doesn’t like cats.

CRATE: No, she does not like to be in the crate/cage.

WALKS: No, she does not like to be leashed for walks.

HOUSEBROKEN: Yes, she is housebroken but you will need to accompany her outside in the yard, because she wants to be near you at all times.

ABOUT/HISTORY: Maybelle was rescued on December 11, 2023 running across a busy highway in Guadalajara. Maybelle is sociable and friendly; she gets along well with both dogs and people. One of her favorite things is cuddling in bed with her foster mom. Maybelle's ideal home would be one where her human(s) aren’t away for extended periods of time, as she adores being close to her people and will follow you around the house. She is a little Velcro dog and will make a lovely companion.

CURRENT MEDICAL ISSUES: Maybelle is currently receiving eye drops to treat an ulcer in her right eye and is under the veterinary care of Dr. Marcos at Can & Cats in Chapala.
