Job perks…

This past September and October for roughly about 6 weeks this little guy was part of my day. Meet Tank!

I was contacted after a referral from Glenwood Pet hospital. I was able to assist with care directly from a veterinary nurse standpoint. He was only one week old when I started in home care with him.

Every parameter was monitored closely for progress. Patient response, food intake, daily weight checks, temperature, and hydration are just some of the items that were monitored.

A few weeks later … Bellah a little kitten was introduced to Tank and boy do these two have fun!

What an absolute joy to be able to see a little tiny baby pup grow and connect with a new little friend.

So happy to be able to bring veterinary nursing to pets when possible at home.

I still have to go visit
when I get chance, I am sure he is now called Tank the tiny twister. I definitely saw this as he started to grow!

Happy times!

Pets! Our Friends and companions! We provide them with everything... love, a home, care, health needs, enrichment, and most of all happiness....

Caring for our friends also requires time, scheduling, patience, knowledge of your pets routine, their likes and dislikes, and all sorts of items dependent on the life stage. Every day care is required, whether it is scooping a litter pan or taking your pup out for a stroll. They are our children literally...

*Sometimes our pets face challenges, which we the pet parent encounter as well.

*It can be challenging to get a pet into a vet clinic for a routine wellness procedure.....

*It can be overwhelming to have a pet recovering from surgery at home....

*Getting a pet adjusted to a new routine that involves medications, diet change, and home monitoring can be a lot to take in...

*Leaving for a vacation can be tricky if you have a pet that needs monitoring and medication. Uncertainty is definitely no fun.

Here is where I come in ....

Having a trained eye directly from the field of vet med is a good thing. Observation and experience make a difference. Looking for any subtle change in condition is what vet techs do.

I aided countless pet patients over the past 30 years with detailed care plans daily. Being on the floor and aiding with various emergencies, surgical, and medical patients is what filled my very long days. Always assessing pet patients for any changes regarding the current medical condition. Communication with clinicians and staff about patient care is and always will be my top priority.

When a pet is discharged from a clinic from being hospitalized you receive important information and your pet that you want to make sure is recovering well. Sometimes there may be questions that you may not have thought about at the clinic .. it can be a lot.

Post operative care and recovery from illness or injury involves so much.... everything from pain assessment, nutrition, urine and bowel movement production, incision care and so much more. These are just some of the parameters that I evaluated for pets post op or hospitalizations. Recovery time can definitely vary between patients. Sometimes treatment plans may need adjusted based on patient response.

I am here to aid by giving guidance with the disease process at hand by using my nursing experience directly from the field to make this new transition for you and your pet easier and less stressful.

Here to aid and support you and your best friends with optimal health, happiness, and wellness!

As always thank you for your support!

A vital part of a veterinary team. The Veterinary Technician. Making an impact every day in every way! Every section in a clinic works together to provide the best possible care for your best friend!

What most people think they know about veterinary nurses is just the tip of the iceberg 🧊

Disposable hand warmers contain elemental iron. Once the iron is removed from its plastic packaging and exposed to air, the iron becomes oxidized and heats up. If your pet ingests this part of a disposable hand warmer, it’s likely that they could experience symptoms of an upset stomach.
However, if the hand warmer was unused and ingested by your pet, thermal burns can occur in the stomach and vomiting or diarrhea with blood can be seen. If your dog swallows one of the hand warmers intact, it could also cause an intestinal blockage and require surgery to remove.
Always keep items such as disposable hand warmers up and out of paws’ reach, and when disposing of used items, be sure to make sure your trash is secured to where your pet can’t get into it!

What I love most about my in home pet care business…..

Making connections and friendships with people and their pets. Making things a little easier for them is a main goal of continued care.

Aiding and being a guide for all things regarding small animal health.

Using my  veterinary clinical experience of over 30 years directly from a veterinary nursing standpoint…to care for your best friend.

When I visit your pet…

You will always, always get 110 percent of detail.

That is how I work. Always have. Always will.

In practice, details are a must, along with many other things such as monitoring many parameters to keep your pet in optimal health.

It is not just a nail trim many times. It's more than that. I love to touch base about any concerns. It allows me to keep an extra eye on your pets' health from a veterinary nurses point of view.

I have been very lucky to have gotten to aid with a variety of things these past few months that have allowed me to use my nursing skills.

Everything from blood pressure rechecks, subcutaneous fluid therapy, ear care, eye medications, and insulin injections and glucose checks. Drop in visits for pets with or without the need for medication administration.

That is just a small part of my world this past spring and summer.

I write my reports with happiness and pride. Knowing that I have now come full circle with this new avenue of a career in veterinary technology.

Certified Veterinary Technicians in the state of PA are required to have 16 hours of CE every 2 years in order to keep their state licenses. This keeps CVTs current in many areas regarding animal health.

We also did some in home nail care with some of the pups, which they did great for. I was happy to give their parents peace of mind while they were away for a bit!
