Our friends at @chesterfieldscanimalservices made some tough decisions last week, having to say goodbye to many dogs due to overcrowding. We have been dying to help them in this time of crisis. Yesterday, they put out a plea for 4 parvo puppies. The 5th puppy had already passed away. We had a foster offer and immediately got to work posting for transport help to get them to the vet. I’m not exaggerating when I say we were begging for help. We were posting on every social media platform and Facebook group, and texting everyone we knew close to the area. We sadly couldn’t get the puppies out before both the deadline. Our superhuman foster coordinator @niykeepaigee woke up at 4am today to get to the shelter first thing, and then get the puppies back down to Charleston. The puppies are going straight to one of our vet partners, @southside_animal_hospital where we will confirm with parvo tests if they indeed have the virus, and treat their symptoms. If they do all test positive, they will receive the monoclonal antibody injections. This is a pricey medication, but thankfully with them being on the smaller side, it’s not as expensive. We have had our fair share of parvo cases this year, and it has been a roller coaster. We’ve faced challenges we didn’t think were possible with this virus. We are going to try to treat these puppies with our new knowledge, and give them the best chance to survive. Update: we couldn’t get there in time for Tuesday but have someone going to the shelter first thing Wednesday morning. Please pray these babies make it though the night 🙏

Oh Caroline! This sweet girl sat in the shelter for quite some time. She finally got out thanks to a foster family who opened their home. They spent a lot of time loving her, spoiling her, and showing her how to be a normal dog. She came out of her shell and showed them that she has enormous amounts of love to give. She seeks attention and affection, and soaks up any love she can get from both people and other dogs. Caroline thought she found her forever home when she was adopted. She was sadly returned for being “afraid” of everything and having accidents. Once we got her back, we took her to the vet where she was diagnosed with a UTI which explains the accidents. We think her being “afraid” of everything was because she didn’t feel safe in that home. We are now searching again, hoping to find the perfect person/family for Caroline. Caroline is dog friendly, very people friendly, and has been great with kids as well. She is crate and potty trained. She prefers to be with her people as much as she can be. Caroline has done great out for adventures, walks, and to our events. She thrives with a confident person to follow the lead of. Caroline is so beautiful inside and out, and we are determined to find her perfect home. Interested in adopting Caroline? Adoptable Samantha recently got to have a fun weekend out and about on the town. Here’s what her temporary fosters had to say! “ INTRODUCING SAMANTHA! I had the pleasure of watching this sweet girl this weekend and fell in LOVE! She has a heart full of love and a tail that never stops wagging. Here's why Samantha is an absolute gem 💎: she is cuddly, gentle, and affectionate. She’s potty trained and crate trained and great with other dogs and children. She had heartworms but has been treated, and she is spayed, fully vaccinated, and microchipped. Samantha is the perfect balance of a love bug and an active partner in crime. If you're looking for a loyal friend to share your life's adventure and cuddles, Samantha is the one for you. Apply through Bridge Between Animal Rescue https://www.bridgebetweenanimalrescue.org “
Pampered Pup Day | Sparky Edition Adoptable Sparky had a fabulous “Pampered Pup Day,” with his volunteer Lauren Mayer, and we couldn’t wait to share it with you! ⭐️ First, we started our adventure at James Island County Park, where Sparky loved exploring the trails and taking in all the sights and smells. After a fun-filled walk, we headed over to Huriyali for a refreshing cold brew and lots of love from the amazing staff and friendly folks on the deck. ☕️ ❤️ Sparky was such a well-behaved gentleman, soaking up all the attention and enjoying every moment of his special day. 🐾🚗 He was relaxed and happy in the car, proving once again that he’s the perfect companion for any family. Check out Sparky’s adoption profile on our website! Applications can also be found there: BridgeBetweenAnimalRescue.org (Sparky is located in Charleston, SC)

Our shepherd boy Bernard officially had his big boy vet visit today. We knew it would be a little challenging to run essential tests considering he is still not feeling his best and is so sensitive. He was such a trooper, and thanks to the help of one of our amazing vet clinics and a lot of peanut butter, we were able to get bloodwork, a fecal, urinalysis, vaccines and even an ear flush done. When we first pulled Bernard, he was in really, really bad shape (as seen in the first few videos). We thought we had a foster lined up therefore we were not going to leave him there. The foster fell through, but he sure as hell wasn’t going back to the shelter. The AMAZING news is that when we first pulled Bernard, we thought he might be a hospice foster, but based on his bloodwork and diagnostics today, he is NOT! This boy is aging backwards and feeling young again. He has many years left. The BAD news is we STILL don’t have a foster, and he has been in “overflow” until one is found. He has a potential foster beginning at the end of the month, but we’d really love to get him placed somewhere temporarily until then. Please let me know if you can help! Bernard is an older guy who pretty much sleeps the day away. He loves to go outside and run around the yard now that he is feeling great, but he also does great on the leash for potty time, so he’s a great candidate for any type of home. He can do stairs. We have noticed he does not like to share high value items such as toys or food, and he does try to mount other dogs, (we think he was a likely used for a lifetime of breeding and it’s all he knows), so probably best to have low key dogs (or none) and the ability to give him his own space if needed. Bernard knows how to sit and is crate trained. He is overall an easy foster, who would thrive in a quiet home where he can have a space to continue to heal and relax. Please email if [email protected]
Thank you Tucker K9 Search and Rescue
Last night we had a huge scare when a dog got loose from one of our fosters. This puppy had literally just left the shelter, and is also a feral puppy who is a bite risk. We were terrified he would run off and we would lose him. I immediately contacted Tucker K-9 Search & Rescue and they immediately came out to set up a trap. We are so thankful they knew what to do and were so quick to come out. We knew no time should be wasted or we would risk him running off. He is now safely back with his foster. We didn’t even have time to introduce him before he became an escape artist. We are so thankful he’s home and his foster will be going the extra mile to make sure he doesn’t escape again!
Phoebe came to me after being dumped with a group of other dogs in the community. The boys in the group were all pretty sweet, but Phoebe’s trust was not as easy to earn. She bit me every time I’d try to get close. We had to corner her into a carrier just to transport her to my home, and then I had to keep her slip lead on so that I could get her to and from her crate. It took her longer than other dogs I’ve worked with to finally come around, but she’s made a huge transformation these last few weeks. She now loves to give kisses and get pets. I was filming her kisses out in the yard the other day, and she kept hinting she wanted to get closer, so I lifted her up on my lap and then was teary eyed and in disbelief at how sweet she was. It was a sweet moment I was happy to catch on camera. Earning Phoebe’s trust has been so rewarding. Now that I can pet her, pick her up, and walk her on a leash, it’s time to get her medical care started so that we can find this girl her perfect home. In the meantime, we will keep celebrating these little wins!
URGENT MEDICAL, DONATIONS NEEDED ‼️This sweet girl got out of the shelter through one of our fosters while she was waiting out her 10 day shelter stray hold. She had a microchip, but is believed to have been dumped by her owners. The worst part? She’s PREGNANT. Her stray hold ends today which means we can officially take her in. Her foster mom woke up to her seizing last night. When she went back to check her camera, she had already had one seizure. We’re so glad she was with a foster and not at the shelter, because she would’ve been seizing in her kennel and no one would’ve known. Her foster mom has rushed her to the vet for testing. We have no idea what we’re facing and wether or not her babies are okay. We know we’ve been asking for so much lately, and we truly couldn’t save these lives without the donations and support. Please if you can donate, any amount helps: Venmo: @bridgebetweenanimalrescue (last digits are 4153)Zelle: [email protected]: [email protected] We will update when we know more
