My rant of the day… I don’t get why people always say hibernation/brumation is not needed for pets just because you don’t plan on breeding them. It’s something that is very natural and healthy for their bodies, it regulates their hormones which helps especially if you have a female that can lay eggs with or without a male present. Pet or not I will always advocate for this — You don’t even have to do it EVER year, you could do on 1 and off the next and so on. You will have a longer living, healthier animal by doing so, and you get to save on food for a few months. I truly believe the majority if people who don’t are just too lazy to look into how to properly do it. Your pet has evolved to do so, let it! 😵‍💫

Vin Russo of Cutting Edge Herpetological’s pictures of Hundred Flower Ratsnakes (Orthriophis/Elaphe mollendorfii) circa 1989 that he was sent back when he and his brother did some importing by a collector contact they had. There is speculation the specimen in the first photo is a hybrid, made with a King Ratsnake, or an entirely undiscovered species. Reposted from Rob Zerkle.

One has a long ago healed injury, I think from the breeder I got them from catching it too hard, so hip area looks funny but doesn’t effect day to day life whatsoe...
