It may be true that you can't buy love, but you sure can adopt it! A recent study shows Australians are now more inclined to adopt their pet, as opposed to purchasing from a breeder or pet store. According to the study released by Charities, 66% of pet parents now choose adoption, as the edict "Adopt Don't Shop" has gotten more traction. we're big fans of adoption and giving deserving pets their fur-ever home! Here are five reasons to choose adoption:
1.) You'll save a life – or two! More than 2.7 million adoptable dogs and cats are euthanized every year. This number would be dramatically reduced with an increase in adoptions. Every time an animal gets adopted, that frees up kennel space for another homeless animal to find their fur-ever home!
2.) You'll save money Adoption fees are generally well below the price that breeders charge to buy a pet. Plus, most shelters and rescue groups provide microchipping and spaying/neutering before adoption, so you won't have to pay for those services out of pocket.
3.) Lots of adoptable pets are already trained When you adopt a pet, it's common that they have already lived in a home at some point and may know basic commands before they even meet you! Not only does this save you money on a trainer, think of how cool you'll be when your friends come over and see Spot put on a show.
4.) The choices are endless Want a big pet, small pet, tall pet, short pet? Long hair, short hair, no hair, curly hair? Young, senior, hyper, calm? You're certain to find a pet perfect for your personality and situation!
5.) The love is unconditional The utter adoration your pet will have for you will never cease to amaze you. There's this special bond when you've rescued your pet and offered a true fur-ever home. And who doesn't love to come home to someone every day who's just over the moon to see you? So go ahead..."Adopt Don't Shop!"

In early October of 2022, we received a surrender request from a family in Australia that had three macaws in a dire situation; their mother had passed and the birds were left alone in the home. The relinquishment form stated “Needs real medical attention 2 birds are very plucked. No tails. The home is filled with mouse p**p and urine.” The woman lived alone and after her passing there was no one left to care for the birds. The birds are two seven-year-old blue and gold macaws named Romeo and Juliet and a ten-year-old green- winged macaw named Congo. We quickly responded, offering assistance and placement for the birds, and within two days, the family delivered them to Foster Parrots.

and value to the birds and the bird community and not just ask for hand outs. That being said, we are a Non Profit and about 10 days ago there was a very bad accident resulting in injury to Pearl, our beautiful female Eclectus. She was out of her cage running around on the ground when she was accidentally stepped on by a volunteer. Her leg was broken and required an emergency trip to the vet and quite the serious surgery. The Dr. put a rod down thru the bones and pins thru the side to keep the bones in place. We will share the crazy xrays on the fundraising campaign! She's doing well and is impossible to keep immobile and therefore reinjured herself. Right now we can use your prayers and positive energy. We are putting together a fundraising campaign for Pearl’s vet bills and will post further information soon. For any of you who are generous enough to donate, we'll greatly appreciate any contribution.
We ask that you please keep your eyes open for the fundraising campaign and kindly request that you share it with others, when it comes out, in order to help reach more people. We will also be following up with some posts about what we’ve learned through the process for an educational moment

Please who is interested in sponsoring this lovely Macaw?
Sponsorship is part of the Life’s Blood of Save Animal Rescue .
Sponsorship entails involvement, both financial and emotional, with the life and care of a specific bird here at the facility.
As a Sponsor you contribute to the basic care and well-being of the animal you sponsor. In return, you will receive regular updates and photos of your Sponsored bird.
Keep in mind that at Save Animal Sanctuary your bird is not sponsored by anyone else. The special bird you sponsor is yours for as long as you wish.
The wonderful Sponsors of Save Animal Rescue Pet birds often send treats and toys for “their bird(s)” (and their bird’s buddy or friends) during the holidays, to commemorate a special occasion, or simply “just because”.
In fact, a Sponsorship of a bird is a great gift for that person who has absolutely everything

Save Animal Rescue; We are based in Australia. We are a network of volunteers and foster homes scattered throughout Australia. The dogs, Cats and Parrots are being cared for in the private homes of foster volunteers. Please Visit our website for details and fill out the application form if interested in rescuing any of the available pets . Our mission is to rescue shelter, stray, abandoned and surrendered pets and to place them in loving homes. Our work provides refuge and a new chance for homeless dogs, enriching both their lives and the lives of the people who adopt them.. The adoption donations/rehoming fee we are requesting will help our medical program; 5-way vaccines, rabies vaccine, de-worming, blood test for heartworm and tick diseases, spay or neuter.

If you're looking for a new furry family member, why not adopt and save a life?. Millions of homeless dogs rely on shelters, pounds and private dog rescue groups to help them find their forever home, and a second chance at love. Save Animal Rescue is staffed and run by amazingly dedicated people who spend their lives trying to 'make a difference' in the sad, lonely lives of abandoned, abused, homeless and generally unloved animals.

If you're thinking about adding a new puppy, Cat or Parrot to your family, please consider adopting a homeless Bird or dog from a local pound or shelter.

It could be one of the best decisions you ever make.

This week we lost two souls, Jimmy & Norma.

Jimmy, an old boy who couldn’t stand by himself, had growths all over his tummy, ulcers and infections on the back of his neck. Norma who had a large visible tumour on her tummy and a mass on her eye. When she went for surgery multiple aggressive tumours were found.

Jimmy & Norma, we are sorry that you were abandoned and felt so alone and scared. We are sorry that you were left for so long without treatment. We are grateful to have met you both and hope that in your last days spent with us you felt loved, wanted, safe and happy.

When we lose an injured neglected soul we have to carry on and help the rest who are waiting for us. Today please do not only think of Jimmy and Norma, think of all the staff here who are so sad that two lives were lost. We tried.

ANY FARM VETS ON HERE?? Any of you ever dealt with goats. We really need some extra opinions on our young goat, will travel anywhere in N.Ireland to try find an answer. He is family, we want to do all we can to heal him! Everytime we think he has started to heal, suddenly he is back to where he began. This time round his legs had improved for a good week or more, he couldn't run still but he could stand and walk without falling over. Today he is back to dragging himself around. (Who knows tomorrow he might be able to stand again on his own, but he can't go on like this walking one day and paralysed the next.) He can stand when we put him on his feet, but soon wobbles and falls over again and can't get up without help. (This improves slightly for a while but seems to return.) We have been to two different vets, but no one knows what happened. Both vets have tried different treatments, but he hasn't improved much on either. He was a happy, healthy and lively boy; then one day he woke up wobbly and it started from there. He is healthy in every other way in the sense that he eats well, drinks his bottle, p**ps are perfect hard balls, wags his tail when he see's us coming. It's hard watching someone you love being unwell, I don't want to give up on him if there is a chance of him getting better or improving till he can at least have a good quality of life. He is only around 5-6months old, he is castrated, wormed up to date, had his injections etc. He has always been small for his age but grown at a steady rate as a bottle fed baby. This is a desperate plea for help, to see if anyone can help save our baby boy Junior! He is a baby he should be able to run and play like he used too 🙁

IMPORTANT, PLEASE READ & SHARE! ‼️‼️🔴
Did you know that black dogs, older dogs and greyhounds are some of the hardest dogs to find homes for? Why, I hear you ask. Sadly whether intentional or not, most people are biased when it comes to dogs needing homes. Smaller or younger or brighter coloured dogs are often preferred. What hope does that give dogs like Dora? Dogs like Dora end up spending years waiting on homes, because even their rehoming posts do not get the likes or shares they deserve.
Dora is 6yrs old, she has lived her entire life in a greyhound racing kennel before coming to us along with her brother. Dora has never had much life experience other than living in a kennel. Can you image 6yrs locked in a cell, never experiencing a warm soft bed in a home? She is loved here, she is fed, watered, walked, cuddled and respected; but we are still not a home! Dora would be a perfect dog for an older person/family, she is such a calm and gentle girl. She could live with another medium/large dog pending successful meet and greet. She would also be more than happy as an only dog as she has waited her whole life for the chance at a loving home. She has been good with kids, but as she has never been in a home she has never had to live with kids so older kids might be better.
Today Dora got to experience being in a house for the first time in her life, during their time here we try and give all the dogs some time in the house to try and help them get used to house hold noises etc. but the sad reality is that it is often only a few hours at a time for most of the dogs as we can not keep them all indoors. Simply because we have our own dogs, and all small dogs, pups or rehabilitation dogs tend to live primarily indoors with us.
In total we have 7 lurchers and greyhounds all needing homes, and yes they are all black or black and white. Our youngest is a 1yr old greyhound and our oldest is an 8yr old Lurcher. But they are all friendly dogs. None of them can live with cats or small animals, but dont let this put you off as they make the best addition to a family when given the chance. ❤

Dinner is served 😛
Today the greyhounds and some of the lurchers who get raw food are having: Minced tripe, beef and chicken (with offal and bone). Along with cooked pasta, raw chicken wings, egg and a few supplements and vitamins to ensure full health ❤ (They also get dry dog food on top.)

***Disclaimer: always do your own research if you want to feed raw, what works and is best for some of our dogs might be different for others.*

She is very much a people dog and will enjoy getting love, attention and a lot of cuddling. She is looking for an active family, and a fur brother to play with. Before being adopted out, Doggie Rescue provides all of the necessary medical care including vaccinations, spay/neuter, and treatment for various medical or behavioral issues. We spends an average of $1025 per dog. which require professional behaviorists and trainers to bring some of these dogs to their full potential and adoptability so rehoming fee help us cover some of the expenses.

About Us

Paws Centre for Rescue. We are a non-profit charitable organization run entirely by volunteers working hard to ensure every Dog who is brought into our program is placed with a safe and loving forever family. We have found homes for surrendered, abandoned, unwanted or displaced Dogs. Paws Centre for Rescue has no paid staff. We have no expensive administrative expenses. We do, however, have volunteers working tirelessly to ensure all of the Dogs in our care get the second chance they so richly deserve. One hundred percent of the money we raise goes to helping our Dogs and around 80% of those funds go to vet care and behavioural training.
