Meet Darth Vader
This brave Tom Cat was recently rescued by our team while battling a severe upper respiratory infection. As if that weren’t enough, poor Darth Vader also has no teeth and tested positive for FIV (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus) at Silverado Vet Clinic.
Thanks to a course of antibiotics and the dedicated care from his loving foster mom Kathy, Darth Vader is feeling much better! 💙
It’s because of your generous donations that we’re able to rescue cats like Darth Vader and provide them with the medical care and second chances they deserve.

Adorable Trio Seeking Forever Home or Foster! 🐾

Molly (Mom) and her two sweet sons, Eenie and Remus, are looking for a home or a foster! All three are:

Spayed/Neutered

Vaccinated

Microchipped

They are a little shy at first, but they’re incredibly sweet and will warm up quickly. They’ve been around dogs and, with the proper introductions, should be just fine with them.

If you can give them a chance at a loving forever home, please contact PVAR at 707-512-0144.

Malfoy and Moody, two adorable brother kittens, are currently up for adoption. They've recently moved to a new foster home, where they're learning to socialize with children, dogs, and other cats. Though still a little shy, they're making wonderful progress and adjusting well to their new environment.

Both kittens are neutered, fully vaccinated, and microchipped, so they're ready for their forever home. With a bit more time and patience, they’ll continue to thrive and develop into the loving companions they’re meant to be.

If you're unable to adopt, there are still other ways you can make a difference. By donating, you help us continue our vital work rescuing kittens like Malfoy and Moody.

**Barn Cat Update from Angwin**

Last week, we set up a relocation cage at a barn home in Angwin. Unfortunately, one of the cats managed to escape shortly after arriving. Hoping she stayed nearby — especially close to her sister, who remained in the cage — we set a trap. Instead of the escapee, we caught the local tomcat, Chuck.

We took the opportunity to get Chuck neutered and brought him back today, along with an additional female companion for the cat still in the cage, so she wouldn’t be alone.

To our surprise, when we arrived, we found a **dead rat inside the cage** — clearly left by the cat who had stayed behind. She wasn’t wasting any time getting to work! And it wasn’t a small rat, either.

People often ask us, *"Are your barn cat's good mousers?"*
**Yes — most of them are excellent mousers. ** Hunting is instinctual, and nearly all barn cats will actively go after **mice, voles, and small rodents** once they’ve settled into their new home.

Larger prey like **adult rats** are more of a challenge, and only about **1 in 5 cats** will take them on. But this girl clearly made the cut — taking down a full-grown rat *while still inside a cage*. That’s dedication!

Even when they aren’t actively hunting, barn cats offer a strong **deterrent effect** — their scent and presence alone can reduce rodent activity.

So, if you're wondering whether barn cats can help with a rodent problem, here’s your proof.

We’re happy to share that today we moved two of the colony cats to their new barn home!
They’ll spend the next 3–4 weeks in a spacious, three-story acclimation cage to get used to their new surroundings and new people. Once they feel comfortable and settled, they’ll be released to live in the barn full-time — and can officially start their new job helping keep the rodents at bay!
Most of the colony cats are now in foster care and have been spayed or neutered — they’re ready to head to new garden or barn homes!
If you or someone you know is looking for a barn cat, please contact us. These cats are healthy, fixed, and ready to help keep your property rodent-free while enjoying a second chance at life.

🐾 Cat Colony Update – Homes Needed! 🐾

Here’s an update on the cat colony that was kicked out of their home after their owner passed away.

Thanks to a great team effort, most of the cats have been safely trapped, spayed/neutered, and vaccinated. They are now safe in a foster home and adjusting well — but what they really need next is a forever garden or barn home.

They’re looking for a quiet outdoor home, steady meals, and someone to keep an eye on them and in return, they'll keep your property rodent-free and bring a touch of feline charm to your space. 🐱🌿

📍 If you or someone you know has a suitable outdoor home and a kind heart, please help us find them the second chance they deserve.

Berger the Kitten and I took a trip to San Francisco to pick up a motorcycle donated to Pope Valley Animal Rescue.

Thank you, Shane, for your generous donation — the money we raise from selling the bike will help support our rescue efforts.

Big thanks to Moto Lucia for making it happen, and to Daniel for your assistance.

Back home, I checked it out — and yes, the bike runs great!

Meet Grace,

Grace is a 3 month old kitten with the softest tabby stripes and the biggest, most curious eyes. She melts right into your arms and loves nothing more than to snuggle close.

She is playful, affectionate, and already showing that perfect balance of kitten energy and cuddly calm. Grace is spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped, and she is ready for her forever home.

Pope Valley Animal Rescue was just notified about a heartbreaking and urgent situation. After their owner passed away, a family of 4 kittens and 8 adult cats were thrown out of the only home they’ve ever known.

To make matters worse, the deceased owner's relatives—who took over the property—warned the neighbor not to feed them. Thankfully, the kind-hearted neighbor defied those orders and reached out to us in desperation.

Now the family has returned to "clean the house" and is threatening to get rid of the cats for good. The cats are no longer safe there and our priority is now to bring all of them to a temporary place where they will get proper care.

None of them are spayed or neutered, but once safe, we’ll provide full vet care and work to place them in loving homes or safe barn homes where they can live out their lives in peace.
