Laundry Detergent Plastic Bottles are toxic for the environment. They are mostly water in tough to decompose heavy plastic bottles. It is a marketing ploy to make you think you are getting a lot by making it big and bulky. Only 30% of the bottles ate ever recycled. So we are trying a better choice. I will let everybody know in a couple of weeks what I think of the sheet detergent that is eco-friendly.

Fabulous forever home! Buttons is the one Pamela Bassett paired with Bond to get him breeding. She is something else this one.

Well, I was having a great time at the LCWW Skyway Cat Show in Tampa until my genetic heart defect flared up this morning. The show was way more fun than Urgent Care. Good news though with both! Tugees made all his finals in a very adorable kitten class including 2x 2nd Best on Saturday! I had to absentee Sunday. Thank you, Judges!!! Always fun to see Gigi Guerriero and her cute little Toybobs! I saw 2 breeds I have never seen before... The Toyger and Lykoi. Loved them both. So unusual and very striking! Here are clips and pics. Congratulations to all. It was a very competitive show in a great venue with high-quality kitties and a big variety of breeds. I was impressed! As for my health, no more pushing myself too hard without proper sleep and hydration. And big thanks to Katrina Sortino for helping me with the kitties!!!

Kenny Currle and Lions & Owls Tortugo Dry, a.k.a. "Tugees," bonding in the show ring. Tugees is our F1 generation for our breed preservation project of putting the green eyes back on the Silver Tabby Persian. We are very pleased with him. Named after the Dry Tortuga National Park as he is a Florida Keys baby. His sister was born first, then Tugees. Those two grew up chasing green iguanas through the lanai screening and watching the fishing boats come and go as the fishermen searched for their loot of Florida lobsters and hogfish. Their sire is Pamela Bassett and my gorgeous GC Pajean's Telluride aka "Ghost" and my green-eye queen, Key West, a.k.a. "Kiwi." Kiwi has bright green eyes like those iguanas she and her babies chase. Pam's mom, Jean Bassett, loved the green eyes and Silver tabbies. Cat of the Year (COTY) GC BW NW PaJean's Trinket Love DM is this kitten's ancestral grandmother. These furbabies have a wonderful blend of curiosity for the wild blended with the temperament of a cushion and cream cat. They both are participating in a green-eye genetic study to identify the gene in feline genetics.

I am a huge advocate of DNA testing. This amazing Ph.D. has discovered so many scientific breakthroughs that make our cats healthier. Our two little kittens made their first studio performance debut. They are part of Dr. Lyon's latest DNA endeavor to identify the green-eye gene and tarnish gene. Cats with and without tarnish coming out of silver lines are needed for this study. So are Silvers with green eyes. So happy to participate and how fun to be on a studio production with a Ph.D. that I admire so much; and the charismatic Jackie Ott Jaakola who made this happen and does so much with fundraising and advocacy for EveryCat. EveryCat is the ONLY non-profit focused solely on feline health and has financed numerous feline studies which have led to scientific breakthroughs. Research Emphasis: Dr. Lyons’ long-standing research focuses on domestic cat genetics, particularly developing biomedical models. Her genetic interests are broad, not focusing on any one disease, including various health concerns and all organ systems. Her laboratory has identified over 30 mutations in over 25 genes including 21 diseases, cat AB / B blood type (2), and recently 2 diseases in wild felids. Dr. Lyons launched the 99 Lives Cat Genome Sequencing Initiative – an effort to have deep coverage on cats with inherited diseases and as an SNP resource for the community. During her tenure at the NCI, she worked closely with theriogenologists to produce a feline interspecies backcross between domestic cats and Asian Leopard cats (Bengal cats) as a gene mapping resource, which is now useful for phasing of whole genome assemblies. She continues to support assisted reproduction studies in cats and she has cryopreserved many cat biomedical models. Dr. Lyons works closely with veterinarians to firstly define genetic diseases. The veterinarians and clinicians then become partners in the genetic studies. She typically collaborates with veterinarians and clinicians around the world and publishes in veterinary and genetics journals and especially journals that focus on organ systems. Specific diseases remain of high priority, including polycystic kidney disease (PKD) and heritable blindness. She looks forward to developing drug and gene therapies and translational efforts, for one or more of these abnormalities to better develop the cat as an animal model for human disease. At UC Davis, Dr. Lyons had a partial research position at the California National Primate Research Center, producing 13 manuscripts via independent and collaborative studies. She has produced seven publications on forensics, over a dozen papers with significant disease defining and clinical components, six projects supporting reproductive studies, worked with over ten different species, and analyzed mtDNA from cat mummies as part of a National Geographic Explore production – The Science of Cats.

Special delivery by boat to the kitties today!!! Thank you, Bryan Helbig!!! I love you so much! This cat sanctuary is out on Pine Island, Florida which took a direct hit from Hurricane Ian. The bridge was taken out and the island is only accessible by boat or helicopter for now. Helping Paws houses 130 rescue cats out there, including rescue cats from the Cat Fanciers Association, and has a Leukemia and Special Needs Ward. It is sweltering out there without power and a/c. Bryan pulled a generator off his job site, so the rescue cats can have power and medical attention. ❤ He is not only my hero but one to others, as well. Thank you and I Love you, Babe!!!! So do the kitties! Stay safe Marni, Dana, and kitties!!! Thank you Charlene Campbell and James for helping facilitate this. Helping Paws will need donations too. And we are out of the gate! 🏁 🏇 CH Pajean's Telluride of Lions & Owls became a Champion, made finals, and won Best Champion and 3rd Best Championship in a ring! ❤🥂🍾❤ Pamela Bassett and I are delighted and thank 🙇 all of the judges who used him in their finals. Thank you 🙇, Cat Club Of The Palm Beaches, for throwing a fabulous show in the gorgeous riverfront, historical town of Sanford, Florida. The auditorium was bright and cheerful, overlooking the St. John River & Marina. The cats were gorgeous at the show- an excellent representation & quality of many different breeds were present. I'm sure the judges had a hard time with so many high-quality cats present, and kudos to the exhibitors for keeping up show coats during COVID. It was wonderful to be at a show again, meet new people, and see old friends- Southern hospitality & laidback 🌴 Floridian vibes 🥥 filled the air. I truly had missed the cat shows. Below is the highlight of Telluride's show weekend. Here he is making Best Champion & 3rd Best Championship—a fantastic start to his Grand journey. ❤ Things we love about Telluride: One of the sweetest expressions ever - he truly has an angelic face 😇 👼 Massive eyes 👀 like an owl 🦉 perfectly aligned with his nose on a beautifully domed head Humongous coat 🧥 with a mane like a lion 🦁 Teddy Bear Ears 🧸 🐻 🐨 No tarnish on his Silver Tabby Coat A big, cobby body A giant plume of a tail 🪶 A direct descendant of a COTY and out of the most awarded Long-Haired lines in the Cat Fancy World. 🏆 ❤ He's a lover! ❤️ This boy wants to snuggle and purr all day long.
