The Mission of The Donkey’s Cross:

“We began our journey into animal rescue after seeing the needs of so many homeless animals. Donkeys are a loving and humorous animal but are often found homeless through no fault of their own. They live longer than their equine relatives and at times outlive their owners - or more sadly, outlive their novelty on a farm.

We focus on making a difference for as many donkeys as possible. While rehoming had originally been our primary goal, we have modified our mission from adoption to include sanctuary. Animals that cannot find a forever home will have a stable happy life at our sanctuary. “

It's a million degrees in the shade!! But the chickens want their "corn sickles", Hqmmy wants her mudd pool refilled, Waffles wants a snack and Lloyd wants winter back... we just want to keep everyone cool and safe in this messy weather - we are tired lol

It has been a busy few weeks - lots of work resurfacing paddocks after this muddy winter, fixing our water hydrant that lost its battle with the ice, fixing fencing, painting fences and all on top of the general donkey care lol... today it is getting ready for the heat wave and updating the "body clip" on a few of our residents to help with the heat...

BUT... the big news is....

Welcome Luigi!!!

Luigi is an adorable and in your pocket spotted little boy who came to us as an owner surrender after his bff passed - we tried to help his owner find a perfect match for him with a family but nothing worked out for him ... so here he is 🙂

He has found a friend in Lloyd and is in love with a big coal black morgan mare named R***r - so seems like we were the right fit after all 🙂

He is a sweet little dreamer so his first portrait (thanks AI) is in a field of posies
