Simon is a young cat with many challenges. Not limited to being blind but also diabetic. He is resilient and such a wonderful cat.

Simon has had a crazy few months. After thinking he was not going to see his first birthday we are on the brink of remission from his diagnosis.

In early January we visited the vet for a regular shot booster and check up. We were given medication for his icky poops and it didn't help.

February we did blood tests and only received a high glucose, it's almost unheard of for a young kitten to be diabetic. We went for a second opinion.

Late February we got a PCR and advanced blood tests done. The only concerning thing that was found was he has coronavirus. This is not the same as covid-19.

In March Simon was vomiting and we went to the vet the next morning and they recommended an ultrasound. It didn't find much except enlarged veins and arteries to his liver. This didn't make sense with anything else.

We did another glucose read. HE WAS DIABETIC. i was so relieved to know it was manageable. We have been on insulin for just over two weeks and now we have nearly PERFECT blood glucose numbers. We have been off insulin since 3/22 and we hope he is officially considered in remission on his FIRST birthday.

Simon is enjoying his haunted hotel. Currently one vacant room. Terrible roommates. Loud at night. Would not recommend.

We made a trip to the vet today and we are schedule to get his eye lids sutured shut to prevent any future eye infection. While he's under his trouble puffs will be removed. He might hate me for awhile. But today he fell asleep with dogs and cats barking and meowing everywhere. Hopefully no vet visits until November 23rd!

Simon was born 4/21/2020 in a tree. He found his way to a local rescue where he would find his forever home.
