Legless Turtle Journal I'm a Murray River Short Neck turtle sharing my life and adventures with you.

About once a fortnight Legless gets a slice of carrot and she loves it! Stanley is not fussed with carrot so she has the whole slice. Cute how they, like us, have their food preferences.

Khloe has loved the turtles ever since they were babies and checks in on them from time to time. And NO it doesn't matter how much you shake your phone, she is not going to fall in. LOL.

I love turtles and had so much fun adorning black aprons with Aboriginal Jijaka Art Turtle fabric today! Have listed them for sale on Sunshine Coast Marketplace $22 each - hopefully they find good homes and make someone's day a bit brighter.

Look how I have grown: in 2018 I was so much smaller than my brother Stanley, my owners thought it was because I was the only girl in the family. But now I'm 3 years old and bigger than my brother Stanley!

My name is Legless and this is my journal entry for today: I tried to climb over our outdoor enclosure but when only your arms work as your one hind leg is a stump and other one lame, you could end up in this embarrassing situation and have to get your human to come to the rescue .... note to self - don't do this again!

A bit of background on our Legless. Legless got her name as she is literally leg less. Her full name is Leg-A-Less but no one will ever spell that correctly so let’s just stick to Legless. The urban legend is that when she hatched, one of the adults tried to eat her and in the process bit off one of her hind legs, the other hind leg’s toes and damaged her shell. No one knows what really happened, if she was born disabled or was attacked, but her story of survival against the odds is a good urban legend so we’ll stick to it. Her toe-less leg is a bit lame. She hatched in our son's primary school's pond and we were the turtle holiday home looking after 4 of them each holiday. When they got too big, we took Legless and Stanley home permanently.

Legless is a real "people-turtle" and loves one on one time. This video shows her stump - the reason she got her name.

Behold the turtle. He makes progress only when he sticks his neck out.

Stanley is Legless' brother and he LOVES exploring! He also likes to be picked up, but I had only one hand as I was holding my phone with the other, so no pickup today.

Happy Sunday everyone! This is my brother, Stanley, exploring the back yard.
