Unfortunately after one day and night back outside Thumper has stopped eating again. We’ve brought him back inside as it’s easier to administer medication and critical care, he has a mega fan keeping him cool and we are also able to keep an eye on his poops - we are watching him like a hawk and keeping everything crossed for some movement!
Thumper has taken to standing in his water bowl 🤣 he seems relaxed at the moment although I’m in no doubt he’s feeling very uncomfortable.
We will be looking to bond Thumper asap with resident rescue Phoebe. We suspect he’s unhappy at being in an enclosure by himself and may be the reason behind these bouts of stasis and general deteriorating of his wellbeing. He perked up very quickly when inside surrounded by humans and cats! Although he has his friends Monty & Rosie, Isla & Aspen very nearby outside, it’s not the same as having your very own companion or being fussed over regularly.
That’s going to be our mission over the summer… we don’t expect it to be easy as Phoebe is a very happy and independent single lady who has so far snubbed every potential partner - but we feel Thumper may be the one for her. We’ve watched his character carefully since November 2021 and are hopeful that their individual characters will work well together.
Update on Thumper.
We decided to bring Thumper inside so that we could keep an eye on him plus it makes it easier to monitor him - urine, poop output and administer meds and critical care etc, he appeared to enjoy his little space especially as it was equipped with a mega fan!
I massaged Thumper’s tummy regularly last night and was thrilled to start hearing some positive gut sounds - lots of popping and gurgling.
We filled his pen with a variety of different foods including lots of his favourite treats - with Gut Stasis, you need to get them eating asap so best to try absolutely everything.
Thumper had greens, a pear, a banana, hay, dried dandelion and his favourite fruity biscuits, all in a bid to tempt him to eat.
Late last night having drunk loads of water, he started to nibble on a pear and a little dandelion but it was nothing to write home about.
This morning, he has pretty much cleaned up everything that was left for him and there are lots of poops!! They’re not the ‘golden nuggets’ we like to see, they’re dark and hard but expected after an episode of stasis. We hope that throughout the day his gut will continue to work it’s magic and he will soon be back to his normal self!
Lilly Honeysettbeale from Lilly’s small pet bakery came to visit us today bringing a herby heart treat for each of the bunnies! These treats went down an absolute storm.
A freshly baked delicious and nutritious treat for all the buns (all 11 of them)
Harribo was the first to get a treat and he was thrilled with the tasty goodness!!
Thank you Lilly!!! ❤️🐰
We at Flossy’s Rescue Fluffle 💯 recommend Lilly’s small pet Bakery.

Happy Birthday to our littlest rescuer! Bexi Griffiths
🥳 🐰 ❤️
Poor Aspen… he’s such a brave little bun!
A top to toe check of Aspen revealed an injury behind his right ear 😔
Do you want to hop again?
Yay or Nay? Shakes head!!! 🤣
Harribo is absolutely hilarious!
Bonnie post surgery.
Bonnie had her spay procedure today. She’s not doing as well as we hoped she might - we are judging her by our previous experience but all bunnies are different.
She’s in a cage to restrict her movement especially during the next 24 hours. She may struggle to maintain her body temperature post anaesthetic (this is why we won’t neuter any of the outdoor buns until late spring) so she has a snuggly bed of barley straw and fleece blankets in abundance.
I have just syringe fed her critical care (she’s not being eating enough, barely anything) to ensure her gut is being stimulated to prevent gut stasis (as I’ve said many times before, we need to avoid gut stasis at all costs)
Of all the buns I’ve had to care for in a more complex way, she is without doubt the sweetest and most amenable.
Feel better soon Bonnie BonBon ❤️
Thank you to the wonderful team at Oakville Veterinary Surgery for their exceptional care, as always of little Bon today. 🐾 💚
I am that bunny lover…
Even them eating is cute!
Intense bonding going on at Flossy’s Rescue.
Bonnie will be having her spay procedure soon, it’s important to me that I have a strong bond with my bunnies especially when I know they will need surgery. Bonnie will need to be closely monitored after surgery to make sure she is eating properly and managing her pain. If a bun trusts their caregiver, the process of aftercare will be so much easier, particularly if we encounter any problems that require her to be held (check of stitches) or medicated by syringe for pain relief/critical care food to prevent gut stasis.
She looks like she’s not enjoying it, but she was - she was chattering away, like purring in cats but the bunny version!
The playground is open!!
The buns love it, especially Monty and Rosie 🐰❤️
Spots the zoomies & binkies from Monty!
Said thumping … by Thumper!
A fun video put together by the fabulous JD!
We hope you enjoy it.
Happy New Year everyone ❤️🐰
Bath time 🛁 little Harribo having a bath. He’s ever so tolerant but he doesn’t like to be disturbed! 🤣 especially when he’s having his bits cleaned… I mean who would?!! 🙊
Our first disabled bunny 🐰
Meet Harribo.
Harribo suffered a nasty injury when he was a baby & subsequently has limited use of his back legs.
Harribo is a cheery little boy & incredibly affectionate. He requires regular physio to strengthen his back legs, assistance with cleaning as he struggles to get to his bottom - he has two bottom baths a week and regular water wipe washes.
It’s a new challenge but we are delighted to be looking after him.
We don’t know the long term prognosis for Harribo yet but having suffered an injury which initially left him paralysed leading to extreme urine scold, he’s come a long way over the last few months already 💚🐰
