Our pups like to play a little game called "steal the toy from each other" Thankfully they are good at sharing between each other and it is all in good fun, however this isn't always the case for all dogs!

Toys are super helpful for dogs, offering physical exercise, mental stimulation, and can even help to promote natural foraging behaviours. However, sometimes dogs can become possessive of toys, which can in turn cause conflicts with other dogs or people.
It's important to try not to escalate such situations with verbal or physical reactions, which could worsen aggression.

Instead, you could try to focus on positive reinforcement techniques like teaching "take it" or "leave it" commands, or even encouraging games like tug-of-war! Rewarding your dog's cooperation with treats and praise can help foster a healthy relationship with toys and help to prevent possessive behaviour.

"Ok so food time is generally also spew time cos my guys are olddd and used to fight each other for the food and havnt learnt to slow down now that’s no longer a thing and still wolf it down. Atlas loves to play tug with our Geometric Cage Balls!

Tug is more than just a fun game; it's a powerful tool for your pup's enrichment and overall well-being. When you engage in playing tug of war with your pup, you're not only strengthening your bond but also providing mental and physical stimulation.

So, next time you reach for that tug toy, know that you're not just playing – you're enhancing your dog's life!

How to teach your dog BOOP!

1 . Hold your palm out a couple of inches or 10 centimetres away from your dogs face.
2. When your dog turns to sniffs your hand, mark at the exact moment their nose makes contact. Then praise your dog and offer them a treat
3. Repeat the above steps until your dog is enthusiastically bumping your palm with their nose. Train in different locations keeping distractions to a minimum.
4. When your dog is consistently bumping your hand you can add a verbal cue like "Boop" or “Touch.” Say the cue right before you present your hand, then mark, praise, and reward when your dog touches your palm.
5. Now you can add distance. Start by moving your hand slightly farther away. Make sure as you move further away they are still consistently bumping your palm - if they are not move closer again. As they start to get the hang of it , try moving your hand higher or lower, closer to your body or farther away, etc.
6. Finally, add distractions. Start with small diversions like another family member in the room and build up to larger ones like the park.
