Welcome to Willow Haven Animal Sanctuary and The Rescue at Willow Haven, Inc! We are a 501c3 non profit, foster home based animal rescue and sanctuary. The love, trust, loyalty, and support animals have to give is indescribable! We have made it our mission to save as many animals as we can. We take in abused, neglected, forgotten, sick, and elderly dogs and cats. For some animals we are their fore

ver home but for most we are just a stepping stone to their futures. Our incredible team of fosters and volunteers help change these animals lives forever! Some foster homes are the final home in a hospice case or they serve as a loving, temporary home while we find their new home. They teach manners, socialization, and LOVE! The Willow Haven family is changing lives for so many animals!

🐾Everyone please welcome Bentley to Willow Haven! This sweet older guy was surrendered to us because his hooman mommy is no longer able to care for him. He is a Yorkie, is 7.5 years old and weighs in at 6.5lbs. He will be hanging with his foster mom and finishing his vetting and then he will be available. He will need a quiet home so no kiddos. He is ok with other mellow small dogs that leave him alone but he is used to being the only animal. He was his mommy’s baby! Stay tuned for this

❗️❕❗️Hey Willow Haven village ❗️❕❗️

We are in need of a foster home for this amazing boy! Wyatt was adopted from us almost one year ago and due to unforeseen issues he is coming back to us, due to no fault of his own. One of his hoomans is having some health complications and as stated in our adoption contract, a Willow Haven animal MUST be surrendered back to us if the adopter cannot keep them. Once a Willow Haven animal, always a Willow Haven animal!! We need a foster home for the big guy since all our foster homes are currently full.

He is approximately 65lbs, about to turn 1 year old, one of his siblings had a DNA test done and it came back with Lab/German Shepard Dog/Bernese Mountain Dog/Poodle/Mutt. He is vaccinated but does need to be neutered (we had to wait because of his size per vet recommendation). He is crate trained and potty trained! Great with kids (has 5 in his home) and great with dogs (has a Frenchie in his home who is his BFF)!

Who can help us out? Crate, food, blankets will be provided by us!

🐾 Myles has been adopted! This sweet boy came from a county shelter after no one claimed him when he came in as a stray. He’s such a good boy and has done such a great job learning since being in his foster home. We searched for a home with experience with timid dogs and we found the jackpot! He gets two mommies who have experience with dogs that need a confident handler. They are so excited to continue teaching him all the joys of the world being a spoiled boy!

🐾 Bailee and Barbi have been adopted!! These sweet girls came to us with their three sisters when their hooman dad passed away. They needed all vetting including dentals and then we started searching for their new forever homes. They are the absolute sweetest, most loving little 4lb Chihuahuas! They didn’t have to be adopted together but their new mommy fell in love with both and wanted to keep them together for the rest of their lives! Their new mommy specializes in older doggies with health issues so she isn’t afraid of their disabilities. They hit the jackpot!! Their new home is already all set up for special needs dogs so their transition will be smooth!

🐾 Everyone please welcome Chanel (brindle female) and Louis aka Louie (white male) to Willow Haven! These sweet babies were dumped in a rough part of town. They hit the jackpot when a Good Samaritan with years of rescue and foster experience got them! They are now safe on board with us while she fosters them. Louie is very tiny, weighing only 2.3lbs, while Chanel weighs in at 6lbs. Louie has an abscess on his face so he’s on antibiotics for that. They are between 6-8 week old Pitbull mixes. They have started on their puppy vaccines and dewormer to get them all healthy. They are so sweet and loving, so thankful to be safe! 🐾

He’s doing so well. Surgery went smoothly with no complications. He is uncomfortable right now which is to be expected after his surgery and he of course hates his cone. Staples will be removed in 10 days and our sweet Archie will start living a pain free life! Thank you to each and every person who donated to help him! Your support made it possible for us to save this sweet boy and give him the life he deserves! We cannot wait to post his updates so everyone can see him healing and living his best life!

Hi there! My name is Bailee. I am an 11 year old long hair Chihuahua weighing in at a whopping 4lbs. I came into rescue with my four sisters after our hooman dad died.

I am such a sweet, silly little girl! I absolutely love to greet my hoomans with tail wags and a little dance. I do have a physical disability, I do not walk well and am very wobbly. The rescue was told this started about 5 or 6 years ago. We don’t know what happened but I still have so much love to give! I need a house with mostly carpet as I walk best on carpet. I cannot walk on tile or wood floors. When I get adopted, I come with memory foam rugs too so I can get traction to walk. I absolutely love being carried and kissed…foster mommy always sneaks in kisses when she carries me.

I am potty trained to go outside. My foster home has been training me how to use puppy p*e pads too. I really love going outside and wandering around, there’s so much to smell out there! When I get really excited I will fall over so my new hooman will just need to pick me up and make sure I settle down ok. I am not in pain, I just walk a little differently from other dogs. I’m not crate trained, I just sleep in my bed when my hooman isn’t home.

I am looking for a quiet home without kids. I get along well with other dogs and cats!

Barbi is available for adoption!!

Hi there! My name is Barbi. I am an 11 year old chihuahua weighing in at a whopping 4lbs! I came into rescue after my hooman dad passed away. I came in with four of my sisters. We are all doing really well!

Barbi is partially blind but gets around really, really well! She has a front leg deformity, where they are a little shorter than they should be so she walks a little off. She doesn’t let anything stop her! She wanders around inside and outside without any issues. She doesn’t play with toys she would rather snuggle her hooman or sniff all the smells!

I am potty trained and love going potty outside. My foster home has been teaching me how to use puppy pads too but I still like going outside. I’m not crate trained, I don’t get into anything. I just sleep in my cozy bed when my hooman isn’t home. I am looking for a quiet home with no kids. I do well with other animals that are respectful of my space.

When I came to the rescue, I needed to be spayed and have a dental. Whelp I lost the rest of my teeth during my dental so now I don’t have any left. My tongue now hangs out all of the time. My foster mommy spoils me and makes me a mix of soaked kibbled and wet food…it’s really yummy. So please anyone that wants me needs to make me yummy foods too. I also munch on dry kibble throughout the day.

Hi there! My name is Isabelle, aka Izzy, aka sissy pie. I am a two year old Shih Zu / Poodle mix weighing in at 12lbs.

I was surrendered to the rescue after being used as a breeder dog. I had one litter the rescue knows of but they don’t know if I had more.

I am the sweetest, silliest, bounciest, happiest little girl. I love all animals I meet including dogs of all sizes. I like cats too, I don’t pester them at all. I even love kids! I’m pretty perfect. I absolutely love to run around outside and chase my foster doggie brother around. I don’t like to be outside alone so I always need a doggie or hooman with me at all times.

I am working on my potty training so any home that wants me is going to need to be patient and understanding with me because I’ve never had the training until coming into rescue. I’m trying to figure it out. I am crate trained and no longer have accidents in my crate! See I told you I was learning!

I need an active family and another small doggie in my new home. I love to snuggle and fall asleep on my foster mommy’s chest. I just walk right up and climb on her, no personal space rules apply to me! I need some leash manners as I haven’t been on one very much. I just get so excited to sniff all the smells and greet all the people that I can pull on the leash.

Hi there! My name is Bubs. I am a six year old Cocker Spaniel/Poodle mix, weighing in at 15lbs. I have been used for breeding in a puppy mill my whole life but now I’m in rescue and getting to be a dog!

I have been learning so much since coming into rescue. Living in a house was a big change and I did struggle at first. I was very nervous being inside. But once I got used to my foster mommy holding me I started to settle in. She gave me a bath, trimmed all my dirty hair off me, got all the f***s and urine off of me, got all the fleas off me, trimmed my toe nails. Man did I feel better just with that attention!

I am learning potty training and I’ll be honest, it is hard. I’ve never had to watch where I go potty before so I will need a patient home to continue teaching me. I am crate trained. I like other doggies and even like kitties too. I love to eat, I’m a solid boy. I don’t play with toys but I do sometimes run around with my foster doggie siblings outside. I walk well on a leash, I’ll go anywhere with my foster mom. I do fuss when I’m in the car but that should get better the more exposure I get to it.

I am looking for a quieter home so no young kiddos for me. I love to snuggle on the couch touching my foster mommy at all times! I would really like for my new human to be home with me a lot or be able to take me with them so we can go on adventures together; it will help build my confidence more! I like to explore in the backyard so a fenced yard would be great in my new home.

🐾 Everyone please welcome Sparty to Willow Haven! This sweet old man Pomeranian came to us last week. His hooman mommy is in the hospital and unfortunately isn’t going to be able to go home. He is absolutely shattered and heartbroken. He looks for her everywhere! He howls for her! He paces and paces looking for a way out so he can go home! This is the devastating reality of when an animal loses their human. He’s bonding to his foster mommy now, took him several days to want to be touched by her. He is learning the routine in his foster home. He was said to be about 10-12 years old. He weights 8.5lbs. He needs a dental, neuter, heartworm test, and vaccines then he will be available for his new home. He needs a physical fenced in yard, no kids, quiet home. He ignores other dogs and loves kitties! 🐾♥️ Update on Archie ♥️🐾

The surgeon had more time to review Archie’s case and he doesn’t feel the leg can be fixed the way he originally thought. We got a second opinion and that opinion coincides with the first surgeon: trying to save the leg most likely won’t work. Please know we have kept him on several pain medications this entire time and he is not suffering! He is happy, healthy, and enjoying being spoiled in his foster home!

So Mr. Archie is scheduled for an amputation on August 20th. Since he is so young and it’s a hind leg, he will heal well and not even know he’s any different! He will have less pain and less chronic issues with the amputation. So please say some prayers and send him good vibes for a successful, smooth surgery and for a sp*edy recovery!

🐾 Sloan has been adopted! This sweet baby came to us with her four other sisters after their hooman daddy passed away. They were so sad but did an amazing job healing their hearts. Sloanie is the biggest snuggle bug that just loves to be with her hoomans. She and her new mommy get to spend all their time together doing whatever it is they want to do! Gardening outside in the beautiful flower beds, sun bathing, or just hanging inside Sloan now gets the life she was used to before!!

🐾 Lula has been adopted! This sweet girl had a rough start in life but boy did that all change the day she came to us! We worked on her manners, just the basics like sit, no, off, potty training, and crate training. She missed out on a lot of training due to her previous life but she was so smart and learned so quickly! She absolutely loves every dog she meets, likes kitties, and LOVES kids. Adults can still be scary but she’s being a brave girl getting over her past fears. She gets a mommy, daddy, four kiddos, four kitties, and a boogie brother!! And a huge fenced in yard with a pool. Did we mention she loves water?! We are so beyond proud of her resilience and bravery. Overcoming a rough life is challenging but this sweet girl is doing so well! Go be great Lula!

🐾 Everyone please welcome Ace to Willow Haven. This little scruffy Terrier mix busted outta the shelter this week too! He’s estimated to be about three years old and he weighs 12.5lbs. And boy look at his wild hair. He is headed to the groomer soon to get his glow up so stay tuned! He is a sweet boy but can also be sassy as he settles in, he can be a nervous boy. So he needs a patient home that is willing to continue his training and confidence building. Stay tuned for this cutie patootie! 🐾

🐾 Everyone please welcome Raisin to Willow Haven! This handsome little dude was sprung from the shelter earlier this week. He is said to be a Dachshund mix, we think there might be some Corgi in there too. He’s approximately 2 years old and weighs in at 23lbs. He’s a happy little guy, loves kitties and other small dogs! Myles is available for adoption!!

Hi there! My name is Myles! I am an 8lb Pomeranian. We believe Myles to be about 15-18 mos old. We don’t really know for sure because I was found as a stray and went unclaimed. But don’t worry, my foster mommy came and saved me from the shelter and has been spoiling me ever since!

As you can see in my pictures I only have one eye but don’t worry, it doesn’t slow me down at all! It was surgically removed before I was found as a stray and the surgeon did a great job! I do have some quirks because of my limited sight. I get a little startled by sudden movements and loud noises. I prefer to be approached under my chin for scratches so I can see your hand.

I love the company of other small doggies. Large dogs make me nervous so I can’t live with them. I’m good with kitties too! I can’t live with young children because of the noise and movements. Kids 14+ with dog experience would be great though! More people to love me the better.

I love to be outside exploring and smelling all the smells. I do require a physical fenced in yard because I am a flight risk when I get scared. This is a requirement! I just love playing in the backyard. I learned how to “sit” and potty trained super quickly. I’m pretty smart. I am still working on my leash manners, I just get really excited when I’m on a walk because I have to sniff everything!

When I’m all done playing, I’m a great napper! I love snuggling my hooman or in a biggo pile of clean blankets. What can I say…I’m loving this spoiled doggie life! I am a velcro doggie and will follow you around seeing what you’re doing. When I want to tell my foster mommy I love her, I rub my face on her legs and hands and she just gets me so much love!

I am not crate trained though. The crate really scared me. I am a great boy and free roam the house when I’m alone. Once I settled into my foster home, I’ve really been able to show my sweet, loving, confident side. I really want a forever home that will love me this way and allow me to continue to grow into the bestest boy!

I lived my whole life in a family where I had six doggie siblings and clothes specially made just for me and all my sisters. My mom was a great seamstress. I love putting them on and dressing up. My sisters and I came into rescue when our hooman daddy died.

I am such a sweet little girl! I am potty training and crate trained. I actually am trained to sleep in my pack and play. I don’t make a p*ep when I’m in it. When I hear my hoomans are away I talk to them and get super excited! I just want a nice, quiet home where my sister Berry and I can live together for the rest of our lives.

I’m a silly girl and love to play with toys, especially the squeaky ones. My eyesight is not as good as it used to be so if you have stairs, please allow me to learn where the stairs are and assist me for the first few times. I can only do a couple of steps. If it’s more, please just carry me.

Hi there! My name is Berry. I am approximately a 12 year old Papillion. I am a nervous girl when I first meet people but I warm up with patience and time. My biggest fear is being split from Kelli. I am very dependent on her and we must be adopted together.

I love to play with my toys! I don’t mind kitties and other dogs, big or small. I am potty trained too. Sissy Kelli and I sleep together in our pack and play at night. We also go in it when our hoomans aren’t home. Oh and I love to eat. Snacks and mealtime are pretty great!

🐾 Everyone please welcome Isabelle aka Izzy to Willow Haven! This sweet two year old Shih Tzu mix was a breeder surrender. She’s just the sweetest girl that loves humans, doggies, and kitties. She has no hair on her sides from being mated so many times with male dogs and she was covered in mated hair on her face and ge***al area. The first picture below is her the day we picked her up, then we show the matted hair we had to cut off her eyes so she could see, and then a pic of her beautiful face. She will get a better haircut before adoption, this was just to get her comfortable and clean. She needs to complete all vetting and then she will be available for adoption! 🐾 Handsome little Griffin has been adopted! This little wild boy loves to run all around and play, play, play. His momma didn’t produce any milk so his foster mom hand raised him from the time he was one hour old! He is always looking to get into things and explore. He gets a mommy, daddy, and two doggie siblings! When he met his doggie brothers today, it was like they had known each other forever : instant best friends! And when he was done playing, he went right to his new mommy for snuggles. Oh the adventures this little guy is going to have.

🐾 Sweet Mavis girl has been adopted! She has just grown into the sweetest and sassiest little girl. After her momma couldn’t produce milk, her foster mom hand raised her from the time she was only 30 minutes old!! She was so tiny and still had so much personality. This little girl gets a mommy, a daddy, and two kitty siblings. She mostly just cares about hooman snuggles and getting petted. And that’s exactly what she will get in her new home!

Mr. Archie had his vet check today to see what’s going on with his hind right leg. Whelp it’s not good news. He has a nasty break in his tibia! Unfortunately the injury is older and cannot be splinted. His only option is an invasive surgery and that surgery comes with a big price tag of $2500. He is only 1 year old and is so full of love and life! So we are fundraising so this baby can live the life he deserves!

Please help us help him! He’s had such a hard life from this horrible broken leg to being tied to a bus stop post and abandoned. Please donate if you can and please share this post and get his story out there. He deserves this surgery, we will not fail this baby like other humans have!

💔💔 It is with broken hearts we let everyone know our sweet Felix kitten passed away in the early morning hours this morning. When we got him last Monday, he was in rough shape. He was approximately three weeks old. He had wounds on his ge***als and severe abdominal bloating. He was seen by both of our vets (we use two different veterinarian practices for the rescue) and they both gave him their all.

We have peace knowing he felt love, yummy warm formula, clean blankets, and snuggles for his last 9 days on this earth. He was a perfect little baby, so sweet and sassy at the same time. He had the best purr, so strong and loud.

Fly high sweet boy! We will see you again one day. Please enjoy his cute baby pictures below. He loved sleeping in his foster momma’s hands/arms.💔💔

🐾 Everyone please welcome Georgie to Willow Haven! This 3 year old French Bulldog mix was found as a stray and taken to a shelter. She had severe mange and a pr*****ed re**um. She was in rough shape! The shelter fixed up the emergency and started looking for a rescue to continue rehabbing her. Whelp enter Willow Haven here! Georgie has a GI disorder causing chronic diarrhea and has a hard time getting nutrients. We are starting tests with the vet trying to find a solution to her pain! She is also still healing from her mange, so we are treating her skin trying to help the hair grow back. Georgie will not be available for a bit, we have to try to figure out the GI issues with our vet’s guidance. Please send her some healing vibes and positive thoughts! She is the sweetest little snuggle bug! 🐾

🐾 Everyone please welcome Archie to Willow Haven! This sweet boy was abandoned at a bus stop, tied to a post! Luckily a good samaritan found him and kept him safe! We are so thankful! He is approximately 1.5 years old, weighs about 25lbs (he’s all fluff) and is a Terrier mix. He has a bad injury to his back right leg, he is holding it up in the picture below. He is headed for X-rays to determine what we are dealing with. He is the absolute sweetest, happiest boy! He LOVES dogs, cats, and kids! He will make a perfect family doggie once we get him all healed up and vetted. Stay tuned for this guy! 🐾

🐾 Simone has been adopted! This sweet girl came to us back in December at the age of five weeks old, with her mommy and four siblings. Everyone got adopted rather quickly but for some reason Mo was just over looked each time. Whelp not this time! Her new mommy has loved her and has been watching her on our page for a while and decided now was the time! She gets a mommy and daddy, two little hooman sisters, three doggie siblings, two kitty siblings, AND six chickens! Lots of outside adventures and playtime and endless snuggles with her kiddos!

After completing his stray hold and no one claiming him, he is now safe with us to finish his vetting. His eye was surgically removed at one point and it was done well! He is a sweet, active guy but is also nervous with change. He will need a home with no kiddos. We are still assessing him to see what else he needs in his new forever home. He will be available for adoption soon, once he is neutered. 🐾

Today we said goodbye to our sweet old man Graham. He came in as a hospice foster two years ago and lived longer than we could have ever hoped! Graham was surrendered for euthanasia when he was 12 years old down in Texas. He was in rough shape but a rescue saved him. We fell in love instantly and had him sent up to us. He spent two years going on adventures and having all the love he could imagine up here in Michigan. Please keep his foster family in your thoughts and prayers as they adjust to life without their sweet, grumpy old man!

Update on Dexter McMuffin! He is getting so strong. Unfortunately his back legs don’t work well and his balance isn’t improving with his daily exercises. So we are getting him a wheelchair. We feel that with the stability and balance a wheelchair provides he will be more independent! He’s such a happy little man, purrs all the time and loves love! We will fight for him as long as he keeps fighting 😊😊 We are also building him a special high chair so he can be more stable while he eats.
