Rogue loves his first off lead walk!
He’s been on on-lead short strolls since he was unwell 3 weeks ago. He only got a little short of breath going up the hill at the end and soon was trotting back home. Lovely to see him rocking it when at one point I wasn’t sure we’d get another walk together ❤️

Rogue was a superstar today at the Talking Dogs Rally trial hosted by Armchair Pets. He said hello to some folk and did some hanging out before doing lovely pre2 and veteran level 1 courses. He got his veteran level 1 championship with only Aces in the level! What a brave and clever dog he is 🥰
Rascal was such a good boy at Dogstival today. He said hello to lots of people who thought he was cute, ate treats and hopped around the agility and barkour rings. Here he is with his new Perfect Fit harness kindly fitted by Dorset Dog Togs.
Rogue stayed home. He had the sofa all to himself. He enjoyed that!
Poor Rascal. Forced to lie on the cold hard floor.
Ignore the handmade blankie. The one he pulled out of his house which has a lovely cosy cushion. Also ignore the other dog beds. And the sofa with snuggle sack. Done that? Good.
Give Rascal all the sympathy for being a poor hard-done-by dog.
(and yes, Rogue has trained him well in the 'deprived dog face')
The boys are chilling out after a busy Halloween. Rascal came to the door to see all the fun costumes and hear all the excited noises. Rogue shouted (people touched his front door. Repeatedly) but has done really well for his first trick-or-treat experience. One tub of treats and 1.5 hours was enough for him so we're all done for this year. Apart from playing parkour with the empty sweet tub!

Both boys are having a nap after a busy morning of snoozing and 'helping' in the garden.
Rascal's been a star when being left at home while I go to work this week. I spy on the lads using my cameras and they are usually snoozing in their beds. The one time I heard noise was when Rascal was trying to persuade a napping Rogue to play (unsuccessfully!)

The boys enjoyed their walks yesterday. It was high tide so beach-time was minimal (not that either boy is impressed by the 'moving bath') and we mostly walked along the seafront. Rascal got to see lots of new things - arcade games, a funfair ride and an upside down plastic shark. Then they had a nice off-lead scamper at Big Mead before snoozing a lot!
The poor deprived boys have had to share a bed. It's not like there's also the crate, sofa and teepee ...
Later today their new custom-made dog crate is arriving so they can both chill out in style (while, no doubt, still looking deprived).
Look! Rogue does like Rascal!
Rogue isn't a big one for playing but he's starting to show some signs with Rascal. Subtle but it's there. Rascal is so good at knowing when to back off and find a stuffed toy for more classic play.
Rascal had fun this morning eating grass and rolling on insects. I'm not sure the insects had as much fun 🤣
Rogue got his his Veteran Level 1 title, and also an Award of Excellence. Yes, that's right. Rogue got an AoE! My Rogue actually achieved consistency😮(three 190+ scores for his first three VL1 rounds).
Yesterday the boys and I went to a lovely local Talking Dogs Rally trial. It was Rascal's first trial experience and he took it all in his stride: being crated while Rogue warmed up and worked, the barking of the agility competition also running and all the fun people to greet.
The new improved version of Rogue also took it in his stride too! Apparently there were people practicing agility near the ring while we were working, which neither of us noticed as we were fully focussed and enjoying the flow of the work and the courses. It showed in his scores: 197 and 204.
Thanks to the judges for lovely courses and standing out in the sun all day. Thanks to the other participants for your support since we started in 2016 - Rogue couldn't have kept rallying through all the challenges without your consideration
Today was our first try at eating a meal on our own mats and it was a big success!
We worked up to it with building value for Rascal's mat, then we tried it out with a kibble meal* in a bowl. We're going to work up to their usual raw food and enrichment feeders. All good practice for when we have a trip away from home or the playpen is phased out.
*Both boys have wonderfully robust stomachs that don't mind a bit of switching foods, and the kibble is their usual training treat
We had a lovely walk in the New Forest today. Rascal saw his first wandering-free ponies. He took his cue from Rogue and was totally unimpressed (including the 'why are you making me look at those? Boring!' face). Perfect reaction, wee-est woof!
Here's a video of the counting game, though my holding the phone threw him off a bit he copied Rogue. I love that I played it as I uploaded it and I got me a Rascal zooming to my feet in the living room
Rogue celebrated his 9th birthday by oofing at things, napping and eating. I think he is happy with his birthday present!
I is not spoiled. Teepees are normal things for doglets to have.

The new sun tent seems to be a bigger hit than the giant dog bowl (aka paddling pool). And no, Rogue, it's not a tent for sunbathing comfortably! When the sun moves around this afternoon it'll be shady 😉
Uh oh. Yesterday's rally trial awoke the monster.
Apparently it's not too hot to train. Apparently spending all day at a trial doesn't exempt anyone from training the next day. Apparently we're back to 'there's no excuse not to train'.
What's worse is that the mini-monster is in full agreement 😳
Rascal practiced his sits with a verbal cue, and with a hand cue in heel, side and front, as well as some fronts with a platform and hand touches.
Rogue practiced his moving stand, distance down and drop on recall plus some rather dodgy angled recalls that need some work.
Now can I sit and chill, boys?
The prince and the pauper! While Rogue is pleased he gets the soft resting places to himself, he feels Rascal is letting the side down by accepting this spot. A proper chihuahua would demand the human stands up and either fetches the other cushion or just sits on the dog bed like a good human 🤣
Rascal had a busy morning. He had a little trip to the city centre for a T Touch learning session with Sea City Dogs. He was a superstar just soaking in all the distractions over the hour. He then had a nice walk back to the car through the park with all sorts of interesting things and a busy road. He loved saying hi to people who were waiting for a bus! (I'm glad I planned extra parking time for getting back to the car 🤣 - a 5 minute walk when carrying the puppy but way longer when he's exploring)
"Mum, there's a Roguey in MY pen!"
I finally remembered this hangy thing that's been sitting in a cupboard as it's way too big for any crate, but perfect for the puppy pen. Because Rascal has nothing to play with. Ever. Poor deprived puppy 🤣
Working from home is tiring!
Rogue is chief supervisor. Rascal is chief shredder. I'm not a chief - I just do the work ;)

The perfect recipe for peace and quiet: two marrow bones! Yes, the puppy has borrowed the hamster play pen to prevent inter-dog bone-related shenanigans.
Rogue's really got the hang of marrow bones now. Not like the days he waited for them to defrost and then shouted until I fished the marrow out with the handle of a teaspoon (great human enrichment, but not so much for the canine 🤣 )
Rogue was a superstar today in his first physio appointment since covid. He wasn't bothered by a change in room, and loved the sausage! The wee woof is rocking his svelte outline but needs to muscle up a bit :)
The boys had work-from-home lap snuggles and then a post-work family walk. It's a tough life being a 'huahua!

After he'd got so super excited, we had a nice calm sniffy time hunting treats in the lawn to calm him back down (and give Rogue something fun to do as bubble-chasing is totally not his thing)
Rascal and Rogue have enjoyed playing with the new enrichment feeder (yes, a new one, because I don't have a cupboard full of them already 🤣). I love how each explores it differently - Rogue bops it with his paw whereas Rascal gets his nose right in there.
Today Rascal and I went to The Four Horseshoes. Purely for dog training purposes, you understand ;) Rascal was a good lad and walked in on his own four feet. He started learning how being on the mat pays well in public. I forgot to bring toys so used a fabric pocket from my bag as an impromptu enrichment device and a knotted napkin as a toy!
Rascal was a superstar during his training session with Sea City Dogs today. So confident and happy.
We got home to find a little parcel from Outdoor Dog - Rascal's first titles (ODA-JP1 and ODA-PP1)
Rogue's old drying coat thankfully fits Rascal! Someone's not impressed at the downpour on our little walk.
Someone chose a roe deer leg when we went chew shopping. Technically he chose the massive deer leg, but we compromised on the wee leg. There's nothing like a nice chew when someone's turns into a sharknado.
My living room decor currently favours severed animal body parts since chews have to live on the window sill when not being chewed separately to prevent shenanigans between the boys.
I'm so proud of Rogue
Rascal went to Dogstival today. We went for a couple of hours so he could experience show-type noises (and learn about shopping - 'oh yes, I need that, and that and that'). He wiggled his hellos to quite a few people including the judges of the 'royal rover' class. He didn't make the top three but rocked his outfit with confidence, and held up the next class entering as everyone wanted to say hello to him 🤣 Rogue enjoyed a nice nap at home and the chews Rascal and I picked out (all the noms, none of the work. Totally Roguey's style!)
Two tired dogs have spent the afternoon napping. They had great fun with their aunties visiting. Rogue was a superstar and was able to be loose the whole time - even when the aunties walked around. Rascal gave high dose puppy therapy while the aunties tried not to die of cuteness (or squee when he was sleeping).

Looking for a fun activity for the Jubilee Bank Holiday? Rogue and Rascal recommend sitting on a mat! This is the most funnest thing ever, especially if you get to chase something yummy off the mat before running back to sit on it.
This is Rascal's third session with the mat where we were adding in a sit. He's a real smart cookie and is soaking up learning like a sponge!
This evening we had another session working on happy harness feelings for Rascal's PerfectFit Harness.
With how confident Rascal is, I confess to rushing it at first. Rascal was clear he wasn't comfortable with the pace so I've been working on the separate elements - chin targeting the chest piece, moving underneath the top piece, and the clicky noise of the clips.
Rogue has been very helpful in demonstrating how fun harness games are, and in letting us play with his bigger harness too. This is Rogue showing how to shove your head though a harness hole (though it's Rascal's harness so Rogue's big head doesn't fit!)
Lots of wagging tails and fun, and the bonus of some good lessons in turn taking (mainly for Rogue!)
