BONDED PAIR

Frankie (torbie) and Winnie (white/calico)

These girls are super bonded and have to stay together. They were adopted together as kittens and when Frankie started showing signs of FIP, they were returned to us. With the help of Red Rose Animal Rescue, they received 84 days of injections to combat the illness and have been held over 90 days post shots to ensure they’re good to go. Bloodwork ran again and NO SIGNS of FIP!! 🎊 🎉

They just turned one year old in July.

These girls are friendly. A little shy at first like all cats but definitely like to cuddle together and with the foster. They like to chase wand toys and eat lots of Churu.

Located at our Prison Pet Partnership program in Gig Harbor and they’re looking for a new place to call home!

Adoption fee is $150/pair.

Update: may have it sorted out, pending some additional details awaiting confirmation. 🤞

Transport assistance needed: looking for a driver (or two if one person wants to do pick up and one drop off). Need 8 cats picked up in Gig Harbor Saturday morning at 9am and dropped off in Tacoma. Then picked up in Tacoma at 3:45pm and returned to Gig Harbor.

You would need to have a vehicle large enough to hold up to 8 cat carriers. A smaller SUV like an Outback or RAV4 would work great, or a larger SUV or van. Depending on the sedan, might even be able to make that work. Can provide gas money if needed.

Adoption fees are $200/1 or $325 for a pair.

We need a receptionist 🤦🏽‍♀️

The amount of people who contact us is insane and enough to make a person go crazy (and this is only text - doesn’t count messenger and emails)

I’m 100% extrovert. Never in my life before running a rescue have I felt I needed to decompress and cringe when I look at my phone.

Now. It’s constant. I have to hide away sometimes so I don’t have a mental breakdown 🤪

26/08/2024

Things have to change. 😞

I will not go into another kitten season doing everything I do alone. We have helpers, but I still do more than one person should.

I need multiple committed people who have a passion for the cause, organized and willing to dedicate the time it takes to split stuff off… or, I have to start removing parts of what we do.

Right now I’m a bookkeeper, a volunteer coordinator, a foster, a foster coordinator, a spay run organizer for the public and our kitties, and partial driver (I drive part way), a TNR organizer and trapper and partial driver as well as caring for ferals before and after surgery and returning them.

I’m a maid for cat rescue. I’m a receptionist. I’m an inventory supply manager. I’m a fundraiser. I’m a web and social media content manager. The list goes on.

I’m tired.

Feisty Felines is looking to make *major* changes being: new partners, joining with another rescue or some parts of what we do will be dropped. 😞 and sadly, one of those may be TNR. Which hurts my heart, but with TNR comes kittens, which needs Fosters, which needs spay runs and adoptions. 😕

So unless I only start trapping in the winter so everything is TNR (also an idea I have), then it may have to be the first to go.

Before anyone offers to foster, or “I can help sometime, let me know if you need help”, I need to curb those with: I need partners. Volunteers are great, but I need duplicates of me. If that’s not what you’re wanting and willing to do, please stand by in hopes there is someone who can be a partner so we can accept more random help. And thank you for being willing to even do that. ❤️ because guess who would do all the coordination and scheduling and communication with the random helpers - yep. Me. 😕 and I just can’t do this much anymore. I’m at the end of my rope. 😞

I would like to only wear a couple hats. Not all of them.

We have the winter to figure it out.

But next kitten season, I will not do all I do alone anymore 💔

A woman WHO IS PHYSICALLY DISABLED - walks with a WALKER - came to me for revolution for two outdoor community cats before bringing them into HER home before surgery spots SHE booked Pasados for for FREE surgery.

People need to STOP making excuses and step up. Bc the few of us who do this are tired of excuses and tired of people wanting us to do it all.

We are just tired. Period.

Be like Michelle. Please.

I will not be having another yard sale on Sept 7/8. Thankfully the lady messaged me offering to hold the stuff until spring. I’m at a breaking point. And I have too much on my plate cat wise already plus too much of my own stuff (outside) that still has to get done before winter. For those who offered to help, I greatly appreciate it, and I would love help in the spring.

20/08/2024

Today I got told someone is not going to trap and fix 20 cats on their property because “they’re not my cats and honestly that sounds like too much work for animals that are not mine”.

Yet they want me or someone to come do it for them. (Even tho my waiting list is 4 months out and I suggested they get appointments for these (friendly I’m told) cats and start fixing as many as they could right away.

People are why cat rescuers are at our wits end.

Dang. This cat I took on the other day (that someone tried to help and then they said she’s crazy. Nice one minute and scary the next)…

She’s in heat. 🤦🏽‍♀️🙄

And she’s a love….8m old. Probably her first heat cycle. (Maybe. She can actually go into heat as early as 4m old).

Ugh. No more surgery spots for 8 days. It will be grueling.

Sorry girl. Trust me. I want you to not be feeling that way either 🤣

Problems that affect a cat’s lower urinary system often prevent the bladder from emptying correctly or may even cause fatal blockage of the urethra, the tube connecting the bladder to the outside of the body. Very often the culprit is Feline Lower Urinary Tract Disease (FLUTD). Once called Feline Urologic Syndrome (FUS), FLUTD is not merely one problem, but a collection of clinical symptoms that may have more than one possible cause. Symptoms of FLUTD include frequent or painful urination, bloody urine and frequent licking of the urinary opening. One key to treating FLUTD is to determine the root cause, which may include bladder stones, urinary tract blockage, infection or cancer. If the cause of these symptoms cannot be determined, the cat is considered to have bladder inflammation (cystitis).

What Causes Lower Urinary Tract Problems in Cats?
* Stones, crystals or debris accumulation in the bladder or urethra
* Urethral plug (accumulation of debris from urine)
* Bladder inflammation or infection
* Incontinence from excessive water drinking or weak bladder
* Injury to, or tumor in, the urinary tract
* Stress
* Spinal cord problems
* Congenital abnormality

What Health Conditions Might Lead to Lower Urinary Tract Problems?
Endocrine diseases such as hyperthyroidism and diabetes mellitus can cause lower urinary tract problems in cats.

Which Cats Are Prone to Lower Urinary Tract Problems?
FLUTD is rarely diagnosed in animals younger than one year; the average age is typically four years. Male cats are generally more prone to urethral blockages because of their narrower urethras.

How Can I Tell if My Cat Has Lower Urinary Tract Problems?
The following signs may indicate that your cat is having trouble with his urinary tract:
* Inability to urinate or only passing a small amount of urine
* Bloody or cloudy urine
*Loss of bladder control, dribbling urine
* Increased frequency of urination or visits to the litter box
* Straining and/or crying out in pain when trying to pass urine
*Prolonged squatting in litter box
* Fear/avoidance of litter box and soiling in inappropriate places
* Constant licking of urinary opening
* Strong odor of ammonia in urine
* Lethargy
* Vomiting
* Increased water consumption
* Hard, distended abdomen

What Should I Do If I Think My Cat Has Lower Urinary Tract Problems?
Please see your veterinarian for immediate medical attention, especially if your cat is straining to urinate or crying out in pain. This could be a medical emergency!

How Are Lower Urinary Tract Problems Diagnosed?
To diagnose a lower urinary tract problem, your vet should conduct a complete physical exam, a urinalysis and possibly urine culture, blood work, radiographs or ultrasound.

How Are Lower Urinary Tract Problems Treated?
Because feline urinary problems are so varied and potentially serious in nature, your first step is to get immediate veterinary care. Depending on your cat’s prognosis, one of the following may be recommended:
* Antibiotics or other medications
* Dietary changes
* Increase in water intake
* Urinary acidifiers
* Expelling of small stones through urethra
* Surgery to either remove bladder stones or tumor, or to correct congenital abnormality
* Urinary catheter or surgery to remove urethral blockage in male cats
* Fluid therapy

What Can Happen If a Cat's Lower Urinary Tract Problems Go Untreated?
Untreated urinary problems can cause partial or complete obstruction of the urethra, preventing a cat from urinating. This is a medical emergency that can very quickly lead to kidney failure and/or rupture of the bladder, and can prove fatal if the obstruction is not relieved right away.

Any rescues or rescuers seeing this have space in a fungalo bungalow for ringworm?

Before we found out they had that I had already told her I can’t take them in. I have nowhere to put them. (Not to mention we focus on ferals). THEN I found out they had ringworm when I paid for a vet visit for one with a lump on his stomach that had open wounds.

The person took them in when the neighbor moved and left them.

I did what I could and I loaned her another kennel (she had 2) and I gave her terbenefine lotion, chlorohexadine wipes, disposable hospital gowns, gloves and a bottle of rescue spray.

Friendly. 2 adults (one preggo but I’m sorry. I plan to spay abort her Saturday so we don’t have more ringworm kittens and also, she can’t even take care of these much less that many more).

They’re in 42” dog kennels in her garage. Deep Lewis county but I can help arrange transport.

Does anyone have space:/

If you're fortunate to live in an area that has someone doing TNR, take advantage of it. Many of you (in the US) are familiar with transports that take (mostly) cats and dogs from the high euthanasia States in the Southeast to Northern states (where I heard years ago have zero euthanizations and few animals available for adoption because their spay/neuter programs are so strictly enforced). I've heard repeatedly on FB & from every TNR/rescue person I know that this is THE worst kitten season ever. We've been saying that every year for the last 17 years. (Why aren't people getting any smarter in knowing what needs to be done?)

Today a friend posted on FB pics of a beautiful tortie kitten (est to be 7 weeks old) that she'd recently captured, seemingly near death from starvation (frightened, being chased by dogs, very skinny). In an effort to help her find a rescue to take the kitten, I contacted a long-time rescue friend who told me they can't take in any cats because "Massachusetts is full." I had to confirm what I thought that meant. Sure enough, rescues in the NE are full. I don't always stay current with the rescue situation (since I do TNR, I'm not usually affected), but this is the first time since starting TNR/rescue (17 years ago) I've heard that. That translates to more cats and dogs in the SE States will be euthanized. There is NO WHERE for them to go.💔😿

PLEASE, in the name of compassion for all living beings, spay/neuter your pets.🐈‍⬛️🐕🐈🐕‍🦺💕

📚 Our BACK TO BASICS SERIES: female cats are “seasonally polyestrous" 🐱 They can have multiple cycles during their breeding season, which is influenced by the amount of daylight.

In the northern hemisphere, as the amount of daylight begins to increase with the winter solstice (12/21), the reproductive cycle of intact females kicks into gear, and most will go into heat by late January. A female cat will continue to go into heat every 1 to 2 weeks until she gets pregnant. Regular estrus activity will continue until the amount of daylight decreases (October). The feline gestation period is about 63 days, which is why we typically see the first kittens of the season arriving in late March. (Remember that a kitten reaches sexually maturity from 4 months of age!) 🙀

If your climate allows, NOW is the ideal time to spay and neuter feral and stray cats to get ahead of kitten season and end the breeding cycle before it starts. If you are in a cold climate and spaying is not advised because of potential harm to the females, you can start working on the males. (It takes two!) If nothing else, take inventory and restock your supplies. Make a plan! 📅

We have 8 beautiful super sweet and playful kitties looking for homes **in pairs**

The kittens have battled coronavirus (not covid and super common 80% of cats have had it before). But we want to be careful just in case not to make anyone else sick.

What’s wrong with them? The p**p isn’t perfect. It’s not bad. We have had them months and it’s so close to great but the problem is, they may shed the virus for weeks or more.

So we are looking for homes in pairs so they can either be the only two cats for while (or always) or they can be kept in a bedroom and using a separate litter box for awhile.

One litter is approx 5 months old. A dilute torbie, two dilute tortis and a grey tabby. DOG FRIENDLY and not contagious to dogs!

The other litter is approx 4m old and is a torbie, a dilute calico, and two dilute torbies.

They’re soooo sweet. Allllll girls lol

Let us know if you’re interested in coming to meet them. We put them together this weekend to free the foster up to take two others and I already had 4 so
Why not 8? lol.

Raise your hand if you have ever been smacked in the face for trying to kiss a feral kitten on the forehead 🤣 first 3 kisses were free. 4th cost me blood 🤣🤣🤣

Clearly his Purrito was too loose…

Someone has an entire shop (3 estates) of stuff to donate to us. What do we think of another yard sale before summer ends? It’s super exhausting - so much work. But do I have some peeps willing to help? ❤️🙏 maybe Sept 7/8 and days preceding for prep?

Surely all you trappers know this!! There are many great videos available online that cover the basics of trapping: Alley Cat Allies and Tomahawk, for example.
