We are officially up and running! In order to continue to rescue abandoned, neglected, abused, and surrendered farm animals we can always use any generous donation from our supporters.

Many farm animals used for consumption live in unsanitary and inhumane conditions. The CCF Foundation connects the community and the rehabilitated animals through animal assisted activities (AAA) to create lasting memories, understanding, compassion, and education of the love that farm animals can provide.

Thought for the day... After having baby goats for 8 weeks, I’m think goat yoga would be a nasty experience. They aren’t just cute and cuddly. They eat your hair, p**p everywhere, and p*e on everything!! But we do love them. ❤️

So, I've been doing a little experiment with Charlie. I read some research that said horses like music. I have discovered that he loves to have the guitar played to him live (my son-in-law and husband will occasionally play for him), but wanted to see if different types of music would impact his attitude as he was alone during the night. This last week or so I have tried Lynard Skynard, Nickel Creek, Mozart, Bread, Jewel, and an audiobook on the civil war. The only day he was cranky with me was the day I made him listen to Jewel. Has anyone experienced this with horses and if the music does actually help? If you have tried different music, what do your horses seem to enjoy? At least he will be cultured, right?

Charlie and Radar are best buddies. Radar is a terrier mix and is about 10 years old. He was found as a stray at the softball field where are daughters were playing ball. We took him to the vet and he wasn't chipped, so we put up flyers and he was never claimed. He's an amazing little guy! We have been so blessed to have him as a part of our family for the last 9 years. Remember to adopt a rescue - it makes a difference! 💕

I wish we could rescue them all! As humans, we need to be better and treat animals with love and compassion.

So very true! :)

We don't know a lot about horses, especially a mini pony. In our research, we discovered that Charlie could probably benefit from a friend (besides chickens and humans). One of the recommendations was to get him a goat friend. Four weeks ago we added Smith and Wesson to the mix. Talk about a huge learning curve! We are currently bottle-feeding these little guys and for anyone unfamiliar - goats can be gross. They seem to want to p*e on everything! Charlie's fresh food included. Poor little Charlie.

Charlie and his 'chicken factory' decided to camp out on the back patio today since we had severe thunderstorms earlier. At least he didn't try to camp out in the kitchen this time.

Update - Charlie is doing well after the storm. We actually brought him into the basement because the winds were so bad and circulating. He seemed happy to be out of the storms! :)

Our Journey

In 2018, our family moved from the city out into the country to enjoy the countryside and beautiful scenery in the area. As we forged ahead with this transition, we have made a lot of mistakes and will continue to learn everyday to become better. However, one of our biggest adventures started with a few chickens and, in October 2019, we added a dwarf pony to the mix. Charlie is a mini pony who has dwarfism. He is six years old and he was listed in an online marketplace. Due to the previous owner’s situation, they were unable to keep him and he was going to be sent to auction the next day if we were unable to take him. Needless to say, it was fated. Charlie is our baby and everyday we learn something new. We will continue to add other animals as we move forward and we will share our journey with them all. #hotmessfarmers #whiskeycreekranch #charlieandthechickenfactory
