🐾Meet Ryder, a sweet, energetic, and curious boy. He loves to chase feather wands, toy mice and anything that moves! He's a social, snuggle bug who gets along other cats, dogs, and kids. When he's not running around playing or exploring, you can find him just chillin' in a cat tree, purring himself to sleep.
Ryder is definitely a cuddly, companion cat, who loves to be with his people as much as possible.
He would thrive best with an active family, who can provide plenty of play time and shower him with affection.
Trust us, once you meet him, you won't be able to resist his charm! ❤

🌡️ We’re all feeling the heat — and so are the animals with no doors to walk through or fans to lay in front of. As the temperatures climb, stray and outdoor animals are especially vulnerable. This is our reminder that compassion doesn’t have to be complicated — just consistent.

Here’s how you can help:

🐾 Leave out bowls of water, but change them often! Stagnant water can breed bacteria and illness.

🌳 Place them in shaded, cool areas whenever possible — under porches, beneath trees, inside, or any shaded area.

🆘 If you spot any animal suffering from heat exhaustion, try to:
• Gently cool them with a COOL* damp towel (*too cold = risk of shock)
• Offer drinking water nearby
• Post quickly to local Facebook or Nextdoor groups for backup or rescue aid

💛 These small actions can save lives. Let’s show up for the animals who don’t have anyone else looking out for them.

This handsome boy is celebrating another lap around the sun today! ☀️🥳 Arizona is one of our amazing special needs cats. He has CH (cerebellar hypoplasia), a condition that affects his coordination, but he’s never let it slow him down. He’s playful, resilient, and full of love—and we think that makes him even more special. 💛

Meet Kali 🩵

This 5-month-old Husky mix is all kinds of stunning — with her black and cream coat and piercing blue eyes, she turns heads everywhere she goes. 😍

Kali is playful, smart, and full of that classic puppy energy. She’s just starting to settle into shelter life, so we’re still learning more about her preferences with other animals or kiddos — but as always, a meet-and-greet is the best way to see if it’s a match!

She’s got so much love to give, and with a face like that, we don’t think she’ll be here long! 💫

A huge THANK YOU to the incredible 6th grade class at Rostraver Elementary for organizing a donation drive for our shelter from May 1st to May 21st! 🐾📚💛

Thanks to your hard work and the generosity of your school community, we received an amazing haul of supplies to help care for our animals. 📦💞 From food bowls to laundry detergent, every item will make a difference for pets waiting for their forever homes. 🏡

🌟 Meet the newest stars of HSWC! 🐾

These wonderfully diverse pups are ready to find their forever homes—and we’re so ready to help them get there. 🏡

First up is Quinn, a curious bluetick hound mix with a nose for adventure. 💙 Next is Gracie, our snaggle-toothed sweetheart and certified heart-melter. 🥰 And last but never least is Emmy, a sleek black beauty with energy to spare and a love for zoomies. 🐕‍🦺💨

We’ll be sharing more about their personalities this week (unless they find their families first—fingers crossed!), so stay tuned as we highlight what makes each of them shine! ✨
