Taking on the fat cats isn’t easy, take it from me. Giant corporations have resources, lawyers and influence which is both incredibly anxiety inducing and intimidating.
But when you believe in your cause, you have to stand by the truth and shout it out loud!
Here’s what I’ve learned from challenging the giants of the pet food industry over the past 12 months:
🌍 IT’S NOT JUST PET FOOD. Battling industry giants is universal 🌐. Many industries face similar challenges, where big corporations prioritize profits over people (or pets). I’ve connected with founders who are shaking things up and losing sleep like me. It’s the same story over and over...
⚖️ THEY HAVE LAWYERS... LOTS OF LAWYERS. Big players expertly protect their interests. The constant threat of legal action was overwhelming, causing sleepless nights. But when you’re passionate, you have to face that fear head-on. It’s okay to feel intimidated—as long as you don’t let it silence you.
📰 THE PRESS: FRIEND OR FOE? Navigating media is like walking a tightrope while juggling flaming torches 🔥🎪. One day you’re accused of misinformation; the next, you’re the underdog hero. It can reinforce the status quo but also amplify your message. I’m grateful for the positive coverage from journalists uncovering the truth. Landing a double-page spread in the Daily Mail was a game changer!
💓 IT’S EMOTIONAL. Pets are family. Telling pet parents they’ve been misled about their dog’s food is like saying you didn’t love the bride’s dress—you’ll get a strong reaction. People will react emotionally, positively or negatively. Be prepared for both immense support and backlash.
🗣️ SPEAKING OUT EMPOWERS OTHERS. Not everyone has a platform, but I’m lucky I do. By speaking up, I found thousands who wanted to voice their concerns but couldn’t. I felt like a lone wolf 🌙, but when over 41,000 amazing people (and their dogs) joined me, I knew others cared deeply.
When one person speaks out, it feels lonely—but together, we become a movement.
I’m so proud of everyone who’s joined me on this WiLD PACK journey.
We’re not just building a business; we’re challenging an industry.
And this is just the beginning!
