I have Bantam Cochin hatching eggs available from a flock of purebred quality birds. Colours in the flock are chocolate, chocolate mottled, blue mottled, splash, black mottled, and mauve mottled. All colours are in the SAME pen. Pick up is available , I can meet or ship at buyers expense. 60 per dozen, would possibly consider trades for other purbred hatching eggs of the same value. Fertility is 100% on farm however due to the many different variables involved in the incubation process I do not guarantee hatching eggs once they have left my hands. Birds are unavailable until 2025 Taking names for Spring 2025 chick waitlist *********************** Backyard Chickens and Ducks to announce that beginning Spring 2025, we shall be selling purebred Deathlayers Chicks will be sold straight run (unsexed) Pullets & young Roos available at 16 weeks Adults available (very limited supply) ************************ Prices: Chicks will be 70 each (firm) Pullets & Roos will be 100 each (firm) Laying hens will be 150 each (firm) Show quality hens & roosters will be 300 each (firm) and will have already been shown before selling. It is more than 400 years old, and is a truly rare breed. Males grow to 2-2.5 kg, females 1.5-2 kg The hens are non-sitters; and lay some 180 white eggs per year, of about 50–65 g in weight. Their name “Deathlayer” comes from the fact that (unlike all other chicken breeds), the females lay eggs right up to the end of their lives. Average life expectancy for this breed is 10 -12 years if they are well kept. We ship Hatching EGGS starting in April. We do ship chicks also. Hatching egg season is upon us! We will have Opal Legbar hatching eggs available in April. Fertility checks have been 90%+ the price is per dozen, and shipping is extra. These quirky little birds have so much personality. We have lines from Greendale Heritage Farms and Lisronagh Farm here in B.C. Opals are a rare variety of Legbars. They carry the dilute gene, making them a beautiful lavender colour with white/grey iridescent feathers throughout and a soft creamy chest. Opals are an auto-sex breed, which means the pullet and cockerel chicks hatch with different patterns. Chicks will be available starting April 1st and will keep hatching each Monday into June. Pullets are 30 each, cockerels are 25 each. Contact us to order chicks.

Speckled Sussex are a great dual purpose heritage breed. I have done 2 test hatches and both were over 90%. Selling for 40. A dozen but right now I am giving 18 eggs for the same price. Have one dozen(18) ready to go now, it takes me 2 days to get 18 eggs. So eggs are fresh. So I will need 2 days notice of when you want to pick up or shipping.

I am frequently asked about raising quail and their eggs so I thought I'd take a minute and tell you why we opted for these cute little birds when we were starting out.

***Why do you raise quail? At the time we started raising quail our HOA did not allow us to have chickens. We wanted to be more self sufficient so we researched other options and Quail was the undoubted winner.

***Why do you like them so much for your homestead? We lived in the suburbs and quail made the perfect homestead option because they are quiet, eat less than chickens, mature quickly (they start laying eggs at around 6 weeks old), lay an egg a day and require much less space (only 1sqft per bird), which means I can house 30 birds in a 8ftx2.5 ft area making it an excellent option for small yards. Our covey gives us more than enough eggs to feed our family AND sell them for eating/hatching to others.

***What do Quail eggs taste like and how can you use them? Honestly, we taste no difference in quail eggs and chicken eggs. We use them in all the same ways you would a chicken egg (boiled, fried, scrambled, for baking etc) and have never noticed a difference. We typically replace 1 large chicken egg in a recipe with 3-4 quail eggs and it all evens out. We use quail egg cutters to open the eggs quickly and save the shells to bake and feed back to our birds for added calcium. Quail eggs also don't carry salmonella, so they can even be added to smoothies raw if you want.

***Do you eat their meat? While we don't raise our birds as a meat source regularly, we do process the extra males from our hatches (or mean birds that are hurting others) and eat them. We like the meat (very similar to dark meat chicken, I'd say) but we just don't raise enough quail to have them be a full time meat source for our family.

For the first time this year we are offering East Indies hatching eggs & taking pre orders for ducklings. These ducks are a breed of bantam ducks weighing approx 2lbs full grown (similar in size to call ducks) & they are black with a lustrous sheen, highlighting a emerald green in the sunlight! We have a flock of 32 hens/12drakes. At the start of laying their eggs start out as almost black and as the season carries on they become lighter and lighter to a grey/green colour. Hatching Eggs are 60 /dozen LIMITED AMOUNT AVAILABLE. Ducklings are available for pre order (get on our waitlist) and will be 20/each and sold straight run (unsexed) as day olds.

Very nice used Sportsman Model 1266 poultry incubator for sale. We are selling one of our incubators simply because we don't need two. It operates well and is available for purchase immediately. With the egg racks that come with it you can incubate 144 eggs at a time. However, it can be operated with any number of eggs up to that point so smaller batches are definitley an option. It is a fully automatic and self turning incubator. It is in very good, clean condition. I can have it running for you to see it if I am given enough notice. It comes with factory instuctions and egg trays.
