I'm having several of my kennels completely redone with concrete floors and new roofs before the rainy season.

Out of 11 puppies from 2 litters only 4 puppies stayed in California. The rest went to Alaska, Texas, Oregon, Washington, Arizona, Oklahoma, and Nevada. Most flew here and I met them either at the airport or their motel with their puppies. Then they flew home with their puppy as a carryon. A lot cheaper and quicker than driving.

Another repeat customer, flew in to take their puppy back to their ranch in Texas to team up with their other McNab.

What's wrong here? In the past week, because I'm a dog trainer and also raise McNabs I've had 3 very interesting and disturbing phone conversations. All 3 calls were from different owners of McNabs dogs, not from me. All have major behavior problems. Biting is the biggest issue. One woman who's mother 80 years young lives with her. The dog attacks and bites the mother. She is afraid to leave the dog at home alone with her mother. Other anxiety issues as well. Another woman's dog protects her from and bites her own husband. The dog comes between them constantly. Anxiety issues with this dog also. The 3rd dog has anxiety issues cannot be left alone, relieves itself in it's bed inside his carrier at night.
With my vast experiencewith all dogs over the past 50+ years, I tried to resolve the problems with the best advice I could. But, the bottom line is, the breeders of these dogs should never have sold the dogs to these people.
MCNABS are NOT strictly a pet. They are a WORKING dog first, although they make great companions when in the right placement. They are NOT a pet first.
The last resort for these people is to return the dog to the breeder. A responsible breeder would accept the dog back and re-home it to a more acceptable working ranch. Come on you would-be breeders, be more responsible and place these wonderful McNabs into proper homes where they will succeed and not fail.
