1/ Protect your home from break-ins

It’s a fact that during the vacation season, a house that’s lived in is less likely to be broken into. Lights on in the evening, a car parked outside or at the back, people coming and going. These are tell-tale signs that people are there. A real deterrent to prowlers with suspicious intent.

6 Ways to Keep Your Pets Cool This Summer 🐾🐾🏖️

As the summer heat continues, we can’t forget about our fury family members. Many people care for pets, livestock or service animals. It is important to keep them in mind when temperatures rise. Here are 6 ways you can help protect your pet from the heat this summer!

1 – Bring Them Indoors
The hottest parts of the day are typically between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. If they are outside during this time, be sure they have access to plenty of shade. Bring them indoors often to avoid overheating.

2 – Make Sure They Have Access to Water
Just like us, it is important for animals to stay hydrated to keep cool. Make sure they have access to drinkable water, and you are keeping their water bowls full.

3 – Properly Groom Your Pets
Many breeds of cats and dogs have fur coats that grow during the winter. All that fluff keeps heat insulated. This helps them stay warm in the winter but can cause them to overheat during the summer. Though they may shed some of that hair, frequently brushing them helps to remove excess hair and keep them cool.

4 – Avoid Hot Asphalt/Pavement
Oftentimes we do not realize how hot the ground is because we’re wearing shoes. Animals don’t wear shoes so pavement and asphalt can be painful and potentially dangerous. Walking your pets in the grass or avoiding taking them outside during the hottest part of the day can help. A good tip is to touch your own palm to the pavement to see if it is too hot for your animal.

5 – Never Leave Your Pet in a Car
On a 90-degree day, temperatures can reach 108 degrees inside your vehicle after only 10 minutes. Leaving your pet in a vehicle is dangerous even if it’s only for a few minutes.

6 – Know the Signs of Overheating
Pets can suffer from overheating. Knowing the signs and symptoms and early intervention can prevent death for heatstroke.

Symptoms include:

Excessive panting.
Rapid heartbeat.
Seizure.
Purple tongue.
Vomiting
Excessive thirst.
Unconsciousness.

🤔 FAQ : quelles plantes sont toxiques pour ton animal de compagnie ⁉️

☀️ L’été tout le monde profite de l’extérieur, humains comme animaux de compagnie. 🏡🌸 Et si les plantes et fleurs sont agréables pour décorer nos maisons et jardins, elles ne sont pas forcément sans danger pour nos chiens et chats 🙈. Evidemment, leur curiosité sans limite et leur désir d’explorer leur environnement peuvent parfois les conduire à des situations dangereuses et notamment entraîner des réactions allant de simples irritations à des intoxications plus graves. 😱

🐶🐱 Pour les animaux de compagnie comme les chiens et les chats, des plantes comme le lys, l’azalée et le laurier rose sont parmi les plus dangereuses 🪴. Mais ce ne sont pas les seules, on peut aussi rajouter :
🌿 Pour les plantes d’intérieur : l’aloe vera, le philodendron, l’amaryllis, le cyclamen, le ficus, le poinsettia, le muguet, la tulipe, la jacinthe, la jonquille, le yucca
🌿 Pour les plantes d’extérieur : le bégonia, l’hortensia, le chrysanthème, le gui, le houx…

🐶✨ Tu ne connais sûrement pas ce chien : le basenji 🌟

Tu connais le basenji ⁉️ Ce chien unique, souvent appelé le « chien sans aboiement », a tant à offrir et est pourtant si peu connu.

🐕 Le Basenji est pourtant un adorable chien qui convient à tout type de famille 👨‍👩‍👧 et qui se fond à merveille dans n’importe quel environnement 🌿. Il ne demande aucun entretien car est connu pour sa grande propreté, il est sociable, doux, mais aussi vif, sportif, protecteur et attentionné. Le chien parfait en quelque sorte ! 🫶🏼

👉🏼 Allez on t’en dit plus :
🔹 Le Basenji est originaire du Congo et se trouve être une race très ancienne. Apparemment, il descend du lévrier d’Égypte… 🐕🌟
🔹 C’est un chien silencieux mais expressif 🤫 : le basenji ne jappe pas comme les autres chiens. Il communique plutôt avec des sons uniques appelés « yodels ».
🔹 Il est intelligent et curieux 🧠 avec une grande capacité d’apprentissage
🔹 Il a un look aristocratique 🏆 : avec son allure gracieuse, élégante et ses oreilles pointues, le basenji est un véritable athlète canin au charme à tomber à la renverse
🔹 Il a une énergie débordante 🚀 : actif et joueur, il aime courir et explorer. C’est un chien idéal pour les familles dynamiques et les amateurs de sorties en plein air.
🔹C’est un chien qui demande peu d’entretien 🧼 : grâce à son pelage court et propre, le basenji est même connu pour se toiletter comme un chat !

Après avoir lu tout ça, je pense que le Basenji pourrait bien devenir ton nouveau compagnon préféré ! 😉
